-:
Join me here each week to find out how.
-:
Now after the last 2 weeks episodes, 1 on being unbusy and 1 on full disclosure, recognizing my total humanness and my total
-:
busyness, I am now delighted to let you know that rest club is up and running.
-:
If you want details of rest club and how to join me for an hour of calm of peace, please take a look in the show notes. Now, today, comfort zones.
-:
There is light and shade in the comfort zone, elements to bring growth, elements that maybe bring a bit of pain.
-:
You won't ever hear me talking about stepping out of a comfort comfort zone. No, thank you.
-:
I'm the girl you will hear talking about gently pushing the edges of our comfort zones. Look.
-:
If leaping out of a comfort zone brings you massive joy, you thrive on it and work best that way. Please carry on.
-:
I'll be cheering you, championing you, and offering to hold your coat whilst you go out, get on, and do whatever deeply uncomfortable
-:
thing it is that you want to do that helps you to thrive, but just know that's never going to be me.
-:
When I first decided I was going to drink less, the edging of my comfort zone looked like thinking about it.
-:
I thought about it a lot for a long time, years, in fact, before I could even talk about it.
-:
This was me nudging the sides of what felt comfortable.
-:
I no more wanted to be sober than I want to skydive, bungee jump, or even step off the side of the curb sometimes.
-:
Once I'd thought about and then started to talk about drinking less, I felt safe to take some action.
-:
I was able to nudge that comfort zone again by cutting down, moderating, reducing my harmful drinking, and then a new normal existed.
-:
My zone of comfort had grown, and it had happened over time, and it didn't even hurt.
-:
When I was eventually ready to try my year long experiment and go alcohol free, it didn't feel like such a huge leap.
-:
It felt planned, prepared and possibly even achievable.
-:
The ways my professional comfort zone have been expanded in 2023 include many, many public speaking events at well-being days
-:
and festivals, writing articles for huge publications, being filmed for a new promo video for a charity, writing a best selling
-:
book, and training as a coaching supervisor.
-:
My personal comfort zone has been pushed further than I would have chosen for myself.
-:
The loss of my beautiful dog, cancer, teenager exams and college transitions, family illnesses, and accidents.
-:
It is all part of life being a bit lifey.
-:
So if your comfort zone feels safe, secure, and stable, and you like it there, stay.
-:
Don't let anyone tell you growth and good things only happen outside your comfort zone. That is simply not true.
-:
If you fancy tiptoeing to the edge of your comfort zone and nudging the edges, do that.
-:
And if your comfort zone is so tiny, you spend your life outside the edge doing those crazy things, then good for you.
-:
