Shownotes

Awareness is one of the most underrated power tools you can bring into your business and your life. When you understand how you operate instead of judging why you’re struggling, things start to unlock — clarity, energy, and momentum.

In this Three Thoughts for Thursday episode, Kim explores how awareness supports your temperament, your leadership, and your ability to build a business that feels aligned instead of exhausting.

You’ll learn:

• Why awareness begins with curiosity and a true beginner’s mind

• How awareness is active, not passive — and why “how” is a better question than “why”

• The Gestalt principle that awareness is curative and how it creates healing

• How one small awareness can trigger a cascade of insight, ease, and joy

• Why temperament work can reveal powerful truths about your patterns, your relationships, and your business rhythm

Think of this episode as a gentle archeological dig into yourself — uncovering the layers that help you run your business with more authenticity, authority, and ease.

Speaker A:

Welcome to three Thoughts for Thursday, where wisdom meets momentum.

Speaker A:

Here's Kimberly Beer, entrepreneurial, wise woman and cyber sorceress to share three sparks to challenge how you think, create and lead.

Speaker B:

Awareness is so important to being able to move through your life and your business with more authority, more authenticity, and more ease and more joy, for that matter.

Speaker B:

So today I want to give you 3 thoughts on Building awareness in your business.

Speaker B:

Because we are talking about temperament.

Speaker B:

And our Make It Happen Monday for this particular month has a lot to do with you exploring that.

Speaker B:

And in your exploration of temperament, you are going to come across awarenesses, or at least that's the plan.

Speaker B:

So my first thought around awareness is that awareness starts with curiosity.

Speaker B:

And it really helps to embrace that Zen Buddhist sort of mindset of the beginner's mind, of looking at something with a completely open slate and examining it from a perspective that you don't bring a lot of preconceptions and judgments into.

Speaker B:

A beginner's mind asks you to strip away all your conditioning, those family overlays, the cultural scripts, the generational frames that you're looking at, looking at life through.

Speaker B:

And it asks you to really approach this from a very curious, very open perspective.

Speaker B:

Before you can become really, truly aware, you've got to drop into that fresh, open beginner's mind and really have some curiosity to.

Speaker B:

To learn what you can really learn about yourself, about your situation, and how all of the different ways that you might be able to incorporate that awareness into your life.

Speaker C:

Which brings me to my second thought.

Speaker B:

Awareness is active.

Speaker B:

It is not passive.

Speaker C:

You actually go seeking for it.

Speaker C:

You don't receive it like some spiritual voicemail out of air.

Speaker C:

What you do is you go and you look.

Speaker B:

Taking a temperament sorter is one small.

Speaker C:

Step for awareness, or maybe it's a big step for you.

Speaker C:

I don't know.

Speaker C:

The temperament sorter for me was one of the biggest awarenesses that I have ever had in my professional life.

Speaker C:

As a matter of fact, it's a pretty big awareness in all of my personal life too, about why I was so tired, about why things in my business seemed so hard, about why I was struggling so much with certain things, and about how the relationships in my life were either thriving or failing based.

Speaker B:

On how much I was accepting of my own temperament.

Speaker B:

And those awarenesses were like a key that unlocked all kinds of beautiful opportunities and awarenesses.

Speaker B:

So shift your mindset from why is this happening?

Speaker B:

To how is it happening?

Speaker B:

Because why asks us to sit still and how asks us to go looking for action.

Speaker B:

It actually gives us a paradigm in which we can create change.

Speaker B:

So remember, awareness is active, not passive.

Speaker B:

My third thought for this particular topic, in relation to what it is for this particular month of episodes on the Be More Business podcast, is that awareness is both curative and additive.

Speaker B:

So Fritz Perle, the father of Gestalt, did come up with a saying that awareness is curative.

Speaker B:

Because a lot of times when an awareness becomes apparent to us immediately whatever that awareness was about gets better.

Speaker B:

And in and of itself, becoming aware becomes curative.

Speaker B:

When you know better, you do better.

Speaker B:

As Maya Angelou said, I have all the quotes today, right, but they're very true and they're very heartfelt.

Speaker B:

And awareness is curative.

Speaker B:

And if it's not curative in and of itself, it is the first step towards healing and towards creating a better world for yourself and a better process for your business in this context.

Speaker C:

So awareness works like archeology.

Speaker B:

It reveals a layer and then it reveals the next, and then it reveals the next.

Speaker B:

So once you start digging, the curative.

Speaker C:

Effects and the additive effects start to take hold.

Speaker C:

So that way you can take one.

Speaker B:

Awareness to lead to another awareness, to lead to another awareness, to lead to another awareness.

Speaker B:

And before you know it, that archaeology.

Speaker C:

Dig that you did leads you to some really profound things.

Speaker C:

A small awareness can create a huge shift in your business and your life, which can be a huge shift towards joy and ease.

Speaker C:

All right, that's three thoughts for you around awareness.

Speaker C:

I hope that this little insight is helpful as you move through this month of re sourcing your business.

Speaker C:

Going back to the beginning and taking a look at you, dear business owner, and seeing how you can utilize the awarenesses you get by doing a little bit of archeologically digging into your temperament and finding out where you can shift.

Speaker B:

Things in your business.

Speaker C:

All right, I will see you in the next episode of the Be More Business podcast.
