We're back again with Ippo! Listen in as the Southern Senpais give their review of Hajime No Ippo! Episode 21 through 30.
Howdy!
Speaker:It's the Southern Senpai Show.
Speaker:Where small town southerners explore big time Japanese entertainment.
Speaker:Anime, manga, and everything in between.
Speaker:Here's your hosts, Nicholas and DJ.
Speaker:What's going on y'all?
Speaker:Southern Senpais here.
Speaker:I'm Nicholas.
Speaker:I'm DJ, and we're two southern guys exploring Japanese culture together.
Speaker:What are we doing today, Nicholas?
Speaker:We are doing EPO episodes 22 through 30.
Speaker:Nope, we're doing episodes 21 to 30.
Speaker:21 to 30.
Speaker:Yep!
Speaker:So alright, so he's fighting Hayama.
Speaker:Hayama.
Speaker:Hayama.
Speaker:Hayama.
Speaker:To set the stage for this, Hayama!
Speaker:Hayama is a pretty boy.
Speaker:Hayama!
Speaker:Are you good?
Speaker:Yeah, I'm fine.
Speaker:Oh, sorry, go ahead.
Speaker:Hayama.
Speaker:Hayama!
Speaker:That's like what he's saying.
Speaker:No, go ahead.
Speaker:Hayama, are you good?
Speaker:Yeah, I'm fine, I didn't say anything.
Speaker:All right Ippo arrives to this match with Hayama, and he's a pretty boy,
Speaker:and he's got This shotgun punch.
Speaker:With all of these girl fans, and Ippo's friends are like Man, I
Speaker:might want to cheer for Hayama.
Speaker:They actually got a lot of They feel like they want to fight him
Speaker:because he gets all the girls.
Speaker:But then they're like, but there are a lot of girls here.
Speaker:So they feel like, oh, if we cheer with them, they'll like us.
Speaker:Then, Hayama is really confident Because he's never lost.
Speaker:Hayama's never lost before.
Speaker:Hayama's never lost before, and nobody's even presented a challenge to him.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:He's that cocky Yes a secret weapon called the shotgun which Ippo saw beforehand and
Speaker:then experienced for himself Firsthand because he's an in fighter and he went
Speaker:in and he got hit with the uppercut and it's okay cool So my plan is to counter
Speaker:When he tries to do that uppercut punch.
Speaker:So The training that Ippo has gone under these last few times
Speaker:Is his darting and dashing.
Speaker:What Ippo has been training so hard for, Is, whenever he comes for
Speaker:that infighter killer, The upper left, it's like a left uppercut.
Speaker:That's from the hip.
Speaker:He needs to be able to dodge that or he's done.
Speaker:Or he'll get hit with a shotgun.
Speaker:Or he's done and then and this guy also if that doesn't happen,
Speaker:he'll just throw a shotgun punch.
Speaker:Anyway What's your girl?
Speaker:The basically so the fight goes on and epo's getting his ass
Speaker:kicked Yeah per usual per usual.
Speaker:It seems to be like a trend here with the fights where it's Epo ghost in
Speaker:the fight has trained really well And then just gets his ass kicked
Speaker:in for the first couple of rounds.
Speaker:Yeah, like he forgets everything.
Speaker:He just forgets everything and then it's like most Emily, Oh my god, I love boxing.
Speaker:I remember now.
Speaker:I remember.
Speaker:It's okay, we've been doing this for two months and you forgot?
Speaker:Now I'm not a professional boxer, so maybe it's a little different.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It's probably all the brain damage.
Speaker:I'm just gonna go ahead and say it on on a limb here.
Speaker:It's probably what's happening and he's only 16 I don't know at this point.
Speaker:I think he's 17 now.
Speaker:Is he 17?
Speaker:Yeah, he's 17 now Because one thing I will say it's like they do so
Speaker:much with oh the movement of time Because months here months there.
Speaker:He's been boxing for what like a year now with this he gets his
Speaker:ass beat for a while, and then he starts to get the hang of it.
Speaker:Because Hayama's this is just another dude I gotta beat.
Speaker:I'll get my adoring fans, and it'll be These women are like, crazy, too.
Speaker:They're like, every time I, Ipoh hits him, they're like, No!
Speaker:No, you can't hit him, he's too attractive, we'll kill you!
Speaker:And it's dang, bro.
Speaker:It's a little much.
Speaker:It's crazy.
Speaker:Yeah, it's a little much.
Speaker:But that's almost that, that reminds me of You would think Michael
Speaker:Jackson's doing a half bowl, a half time super bowl out there.
Speaker:Calling girls fish.
Speaker:You're right.
Speaker:That, that reminds me of what's the big star right now for one of the singers
Speaker:was, had that chick on stage and it was like a seven year relationship.
Speaker:Oh, that went down the toilet?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I don't know.
Speaker:It was some rapper where this guy and this girl were together.
Speaker:They're at the front row and clearly the girl's a fan.
Speaker:She bum rushes to stage and then this guy like starts making
Speaker:out with her like behind stage because she bum rushed on stage.
Speaker:And the guy's just sitting there really?
Speaker:Did you just run up there?
Speaker:That was the end of a seven year relationship.
Speaker:And that just goes to show you, man.
Speaker:You like.
Speaker:You gotta buy your own tickets, alright?
Speaker:You gotta ask her like, It's You gotta ride in separate cars.
Speaker:And not only that You can't, you don't, you should never get her front
Speaker:row tickets to her favorite artist.
Speaker:Because if her favorite artist gives her that shot, especially
Speaker:if that's her one pass, dog.
Speaker:What are you doing?
Speaker:Same with same with, at the Super Bowl.
Speaker:Yeah bro, I would never.
Speaker:If my girl's favorite singer was Usher, can I have some backstage Usher tickets?
Speaker:No.
Speaker:No.
Speaker:No, but why?
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:All right, because you're probably if you get the chance.
Speaker:Call me insecure if you want to but it's more like yeah, just say it just
Speaker:like This guy's Usher and I'm not And if Usher wants you're going to fuck him.
Speaker:Yeah, what's the craziest part?
Speaker:It's you know this guy this boxer guy This Hayama.
Speaker:He doesn't even interact with these ladies.
Speaker:He just like brushes them off.
Speaker:He like does not care at all.
Speaker:But that's why they like him so much.
Speaker:Oh, that's true.
Speaker:That's true.
Speaker:It's the you can't have me mentality.
Speaker:And so Ippo Beats him and they are not, his fangirls are not happy at all.
Speaker:They are very upset, but there's another one of those things where he's
Speaker:one of the So it's, what's interesting about him is that he doesn't have
Speaker:one of those super sad backstories like the previous fighters do.
Speaker:But what he does, like even when he was fighting Miata in like his own gym.
Speaker:That rebel guy.
Speaker:His sad backstory is that his dad was a really talented boxer but his dad
Speaker:gave up because his type of boxing.
Speaker:His dad's boxing style didn't make him a world champ.
Speaker:So his dad gave up on boxing and Miata's I'm a child prodigy.
Speaker:I want to show that my dad's fighting style was actually good.
Speaker:Everyone has these sad backstories.
Speaker:Him, he was just like, I'm just a really hard worker.
Speaker:He was in it like he's not like a lazy pretty boy.
Speaker:He like trains super hard when everyone's gone He's still in the gym hitting
Speaker:it just a down to earth guy who?
Speaker:Doesn't care about anyone else, but yeah, I mean he still loses so he loses And
Speaker:at first, he thinks that's it for him.
Speaker:He thinks that's it.
Speaker:One loss.
Speaker:One loss.
Speaker:This guy has twenty wins.
Speaker:One loss.
Speaker:It's all over.
Speaker:It's all over.
Speaker:The girls are Hayama is.
Speaker:And then then, just as quickly as he was devastated, he was like, Ah, I'm
Speaker:all the greatest fighters I've lost.
Speaker:And he was like, Yeah, man.
Speaker:Yeah, of course like name like if Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and Sugar Ray
Speaker:Leonard Can all have L's on their record.
Speaker:I think you'll be fine.
Speaker:You'll be fine Floyd Mayweather Ray Jones jr.
Speaker:They all have L's on their record.
Speaker:Not a bunch of them, obviously.
Speaker:Not a bunch.
Speaker:But they got three Like Maximum, probably.
Speaker:Actually, I don't know, I don't know their records as well, but I
Speaker:don't remember either one of them having, any of the people I've
Speaker:named having more than seven losses.
Speaker:I don't remember that.
Speaker:No.
Speaker:No.
Speaker:But, but, then after that he fights Miata, Miata faces the
Speaker:Hitman style scary psychopath guy.
Speaker:Yeah, his name is Mashiba.
Speaker:Now here's something interesting about, Mashiba and Miyada.
Speaker:This episode 22, 23, and 24 was focusing on, it switches to where Ippo is not
Speaker:the main character, and it focuses on Miyada, as he prepares for the semi
Speaker:finals against Mishiba, and, Mashiba.
Speaker:And, Ippo, this whole time, he sees this girl from afar, who's like working at
Speaker:a bakery, who he's like really into.
Speaker:And then, after the match, because there was a lot of girls that liked Miata,
Speaker:and he was kinda popular, so then he's Oh, hey, there's no reason for you to
Speaker:be sad that Miata lost that other guy, he's a bum you know what I'm saying?
Speaker:He's like a really bad guy, and she goes, Don't talk shit about my brother.
Speaker:He's oh, I'm gonna fight you, brother.
Speaker:I'm fighting him next.
Speaker:Ha.
Speaker:It's a weird time to tell you this.
Speaker:Not only am I gonna talk shit, but I'm about to beat his ass.
Speaker:Ha.
Speaker:Yeah, it's The fight between Miyada and Mashiba, how would you describe it?
Speaker:I would describe it as Really great, but also at the end, Mashiba is just
Speaker:the dirty Yeah, I mean he Steps on his foot, Miata's foot and breaks it because
Speaker:Miata was going to beat him, right?
Speaker:And he sets on Miata's foot and breaks it and the great thing about Miata is
Speaker:because Ippo only won the last fight because he was like, oh I had to stick
Speaker:it out and win So that way because even Ippo and Miata made a promise that they
Speaker:face each other in the finals, right?
Speaker:Be true that, I promise, that's what's been driving Ippo, right?
Speaker:But now, me honest Ippo tries so hard, I don't want to let my friend down.
Speaker:It's really sad.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So he goes out there, unable to stand on one leg, and fights this guy.
Speaker:His dad tells him listen, you should just throw the match, okay?
Speaker:You have too many great years of boxing left.
Speaker:You have a great future ahead of you.
Speaker:You don't want to ruin it by getting too injured.
Speaker:You don't want to ruin it by injuring your foot too much.
Speaker:Just, listen, this is just a rookie championship.
Speaker:You have years of pro boxing ahead of you.
Speaker:Don't ruin that.
Speaker:But it's Pops, I got that dog in me.
Speaker:I got to.
Speaker:I promised Depot.
Speaker:I promised Depot.
Speaker:I got that dog in me, Pops.
Speaker:Sorry.
Speaker:I got the dog in me.
Speaker:So then what's also quite interesting is that even though So Mashable has like
Speaker:this like hitman style with the flicker jab that again is based off of like
Speaker:almost all special moves in here and all the special moves and boxing styles are
Speaker:based off of exclusively American boxing.
Speaker:So clearly there's a love for American boxing here.
Speaker:And but he, one thing I will say is that.
Speaker:He does get scared of Miata at the end.
Speaker:Miata fails to Cuz he's got that green in his eyes.
Speaker:Yeah, this is the thing that's been happening where they get a green look in
Speaker:their eyes, they're like, oh, that look!
Speaker:And it like, scares this evil guy, he's whoa!
Speaker:Cuz Miata almost wins!
Speaker:Miata almost wins, and then Mishima it's really plot armor how he doesn't win.
Speaker:And he gets he gets, obviously, Miata Because, you're thinking watching
Speaker:the anime, this is what I thought going into it, like alright, cool
Speaker:let's see the interesting way Miyada wins, and then we'll get to see Him
Speaker:and his best friend fight in the end.
Speaker:But he doesn't win.
Speaker:Yeah, and you're like, yo, it makes you hate this villain, it's such,
Speaker:it's actually pretty good writing.
Speaker:It's me and my friend, we're both distant rivals, so we're gonna fight
Speaker:each other in the championships.
Speaker:And then, boom, the villain takes out your best friend, and now you can't
Speaker:even fight your best friend, you can't meet your best friend at the top, right?
Speaker:You can't test your skill against the person who's motivating you.
Speaker:And Miata's dad didn't let him in the room after he lost.
Speaker:So he hasn't even Because Ippo runs to him and was like, Hey, he just lost
Speaker:hey, I'm trying to talk to him, right?
Speaker:And he's he doesn't want to talk to you.
Speaker:He has a message for you, though.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:And he says, I'm sorry.
Speaker:That's all he wants to say, but you can't see him.
Speaker:That's bro.
Speaker:That's crazy.
Speaker:And then Ippo gets like really upset.
Speaker:This is the first time we actually see him angry in the whole anime where he
Speaker:gets like super pissed Like he like dents a vending machine with a punch.
Speaker:He's like I'm going to murder this guy In fact episode 27
Speaker:is named death match, right?
Speaker:So and then the thing is so they train for their match, right?
Speaker:And the thing is also even though this guy's evil this Mashiba He
Speaker:also has a super sad backstory.
Speaker:He's got the crazy.
Speaker:So anyway, the what happens is Ippo breaks his hand.
Speaker:They're we'll say the backstory first.
Speaker:Oh, okay.
Speaker:So the backstory for the Mashiba, for Mashiba, is really sad.
Speaker:So first of all, he's the older brother of the girl that Ippo's
Speaker:in love with, like his crush.
Speaker:His, their parents, they're dead, right?
Speaker:Yeah, so their parents died.
Speaker:And no one would help them, so So now Mashiba Has to box to take care of them.
Speaker:He doesn't really want to box?
Speaker:He doesn't really want to.
Speaker:But every job he goes for, he keeps getting laid off because he's so
Speaker:bitter and jaded about the fact that nobody wants to help them.
Speaker:It's also because he has a record.
Speaker:So he went to juvie when his parents were alive.
Speaker:And then he got out, but he served his time as a criminal, right?
Speaker:But people had that stereotype about him that he's a criminal because of
Speaker:his previous record that every job he gets, they fire him afterwards.
Speaker:Now, I don't know how they run things in Japan.
Speaker:I am not Japanese.
Speaker:But here in America, we usually run background checks
Speaker:first before we hire them.
Speaker:First, before, but and his sister is super nice.
Speaker:Yeah, she cooks for him, she does everything for him, and he's like people
Speaker:keep forgetting about us, they keep pushing us aside, and I keep getting
Speaker:fired because they view me as a criminal, and then they basically bully me at
Speaker:my work, they keep bullying me it's crazy, cause he's like the evil guy,
Speaker:but honestly, these people are bullying Have turned him into the evil guy.
Speaker:Cause This is who he has to be to survive.
Speaker:And he's 18.
Speaker:Raising his, younger sister who's 17.
Speaker:She's like the same age as Ippo.
Speaker:So He's like people keep treating me like a criminal and that turns
Speaker:him into a Into a bad guy, right?
Speaker:He doesn't really want to fight He just wants to make money for him and
Speaker:his sister's like you don't have to box She feels really bad cuz he's oh,
Speaker:you don't have to box I don't want you to get hurt on my aspect and I can
Speaker:totally see this as me being an older brother I totally relate to him when
Speaker:he's look, it doesn't matter if I get hurt I need to take care of you, right?
Speaker:And that means that I got a box and get beat up all the time and da
Speaker:Then, I gotta do what I gotta do, and I promise you, once I'm champion,
Speaker:this will never happen again.
Speaker:I wanna give you the money, and you a better life than what I had.
Speaker:And it's God, now I don't want the bad guy to lose it!
Speaker:But but then there's the saying, it's What's the point of gaining the
Speaker:whole world if you lose your soul?
Speaker:Because he's literally killing himself and turning into a completely
Speaker:different Emotionally killing himself.
Speaker:Yeah, he's completely emotionally killing himself and turning
Speaker:himself into a psychopath just to help support his sister.
Speaker:But again At the day, I can't say it's not relatable.
Speaker:No, it's super relatable.
Speaker:It's wild.
Speaker:So then it's Dang, and then plus Ippo finds all this out and he's Man, I
Speaker:don't even know why I should be And then it's again, this is the guy who like,
Speaker:Cheated to, and broke his friend's foot.
Speaker:So he's clearly evil.
Speaker:This is it's just great writing.
Speaker:You know what I mean?
Speaker:He's evil, but then all of them have this really great backstories So you're
Speaker:like I don't want either of them to lose and it's something that's way
Speaker:different than like in american shows and television and like boxing usually
Speaker:the other guy is just bad, you think about rocky You think about Drago, right?
Speaker:You think about Apollo and Clubber Lang, and you think about with really, this
Speaker:is how boxing goes oh, both of them are, one's the bad guy in, in film and
Speaker:television here in America, one's the bad guy and then the hero boxer has
Speaker:to defeat them, and this one there's almost no one's a bad guy, it's just
Speaker:about life, this is just two people, And someone gotta go down, which is crazy.
Speaker:Somebody's gotta go.
Speaker:So Ippo comes into this match, right?
Speaker:Because the training that he's been doing, also, before this match, his
Speaker:coach tells him, and he's oh, because before every fight he has to learn a new
Speaker:skill that's almost impossible to learn.
Speaker:That he does every time.
Speaker:That he does every time.
Speaker:Plot armor and anime logic.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:Suspension of disbelief.
Speaker:They get so much story in these 20 minutes.
Speaker:It's freaking crazy.
Speaker:But this is where it's different, right?
Speaker:The part where it's different is basically Ippos are like, Okay this is
Speaker:his hitman style and this is what he does.
Speaker:What new skill are we going to learn?
Speaker:And he's Yeah, you're screwed on this.
Speaker:And he's what?
Speaker:I'mma keep it real with you, chief.
Speaker:You can't beat this guy.
Speaker:What do you mean?
Speaker:He's my trainer.
Speaker:What are you talking about?
Speaker:He's listen.
Speaker:All we're going to do is we're going to train super hard on
Speaker:all of your best strengths.
Speaker:And we're just going to hope that You can pull it out and you know what's crazy is
Speaker:that while he's fighting him He does break his fist he breaks his fist and breaks in
Speaker:because he does the elbow block, right?
Speaker:So this guy he does which is not illegal right in boxing But it's
Speaker:dirty, but it's a little dirty because the guy is fighting dirty, right?
Speaker:Cuz again for his sister, so he's blocking his punches by throwing his
Speaker:sharp elbow into his fist right and then he's like breaks Ippo's fist and
Speaker:makes him bleed but Ippo's so But we also have to understand that Ippo got
Speaker:very severely handicapped that before that, the bell rung before he could hit.
Speaker:The what's his name?
Speaker:Mashiba.
Speaker:Before he could hit Mashiba in his stomach.
Speaker:And get the dub.
Speaker:And get the win.
Speaker:That completely And they rang the bell.
Speaker:And Mashiba now knows his whole strategy.
Speaker:And, what's crazy about this is that the bell is often used as right
Speaker:as soon as someone's gonna win, that's when the bell always rings.
Speaker:It's got just good writing.
Speaker:And then especially, and then ironically, it ends up working out
Speaker:in his favor because Then, Mashiba, even though he's throwing his elbow
Speaker:to block those punches, he can't use his, he can't lift up his arm anymore.
Speaker:Cause it destroys his elbow.
Speaker:Cause even those punches are so hard.
Speaker:But what's crazy is that, Mashiba is such a G, that he's I'm gonna
Speaker:just fight you with one hand.
Speaker:He loses, cause he's fighting with one hand.
Speaker:This man got him clinching.
Speaker:The thing is also, His coach tells him the same thing that Miata's dad tells him.
Speaker:Cuz, he sits there, because He's dude, you have too many good ears.
Speaker:He's broken his hand, right?
Speaker:And, so the coach is like, sitting in the corner, he's like, How's your hand doing?
Speaker:Listen, Ippo, you're bleeding.
Speaker:I can see you bleeding through your glove.
Speaker:And he's I'm fine.
Speaker:He's no, I can see the blood.
Speaker:Coming down your wrist.
Speaker:It's smushed.
Speaker:You should really throw this match.
Speaker:This is just the rookie tournament match.
Speaker:You've got way too many really great pro years ahead of you.
Speaker:So go ahead and let's just call this match.
Speaker:And it'll be fine.
Speaker:And he's No, he's also No, I'm built different.
Speaker:But also, He's also, if you don't throw this match, you might
Speaker:have to retire after this match.
Speaker:Because you can't use your hand anymore.
Speaker:Because you can't use your hand anymore.
Speaker:That's even more and he's I don't care.
Speaker:I got that dog.
Speaker:I got that dog in me!
Speaker:And they're like, I can't believe you.
Speaker:Dude, you're hurting yourself.
Speaker:Can't stop coach.
Speaker:Why?
Speaker:Because I got that dog in me!
Speaker:The other guys, the the other Asian dude, he's this is crazy, and he's nope, he's
Speaker:gonna do it, so we might as well try it.
Speaker:Oh yeah, the general man, the other corner man is you should be throwing this match,
Speaker:you're throwing the towel, he's look.
Speaker:I'm too experienced with boxers.
Speaker:Boxers are so thick headed there's nothing I can do at this point.
Speaker:It's that's not true.
Speaker:Yes, you can.
Speaker:Throw her in the towel.
Speaker:Yes, you can stop this person.
Speaker:Yeah, but then the boss, my boxer's gonna hate me, and he's not gonna me.
Speaker:But he'll be alive.
Speaker:And so he basically is like, all right, listen, do this.
Speaker:He said, go in, But keep hittin him with those body shots.
Speaker:With your left hand.
Speaker:With your left hand.
Speaker:And only use your right hand like one more time.
Speaker:To knock him out.
Speaker:Because he is hittin this dude with some really solid, Punches.
Speaker:Power smashing body shots.
Speaker:And it's like Mishiba just just eats him.
Speaker:One of the, like you were talkin about, he keeps he says Mishiba thinks that, Now
Speaker:that he's punched and broken his hand.
Speaker:He's oh, he's gonna use a different strategy.
Speaker:Ipo's nah, man I'm gonna keep doing this.
Speaker:And Roshifant, the evil guy, is like This man, this dude's insane.
Speaker:This man's crazy.
Speaker:This nigga's serious, bro.
Speaker:What do you mean you're gonna keep doing it?
Speaker:So even after the fight So he, so Ippo wins and becomes like the
Speaker:Eastern Japan Rookie Champion, right?
Speaker:And then so as soon as he becomes the Eastern Rookie Japan Champion,
Speaker:the very next episode this guy named, his name is Sendoh, Takashi
Speaker:Sendoh, but they call him Rocky.
Speaker:And not for, also though we have to say that as soon as Ippo wins
Speaker:the fight, because what ends up happening is he breaks his arm, right?
Speaker:He can't move his elbow anymore, and Ippo finally gets the knockout, and
Speaker:Ippo's please don't get off the ground.
Speaker:Please.
Speaker:He gets counted a ten count.
Speaker:And he's still coming after Ippo, after the match!
Speaker:Yeah, Majima tries to fight him afterwards.
Speaker:He's bro, it's over.
Speaker:Go ahead, take that L, dog.
Speaker:Go ahead, hold that.
Speaker:Just go ahead.
Speaker:So then, the, he's oh So he becomes the Eastern champ.
Speaker:The Western champ, his nickname is Rocky, but his name is Takashi
Speaker:Sendoh, is oh yeah, we should fight.
Speaker:And the upcoming a tournament so we can fight each other and he's yeah,
Speaker:sorry No, I can't do that because my hand is broken and it'll take like
Speaker:literally Like my hand just won't heal in time for us for you and me to have
Speaker:a fight before the next tournament.
Speaker:So You know the western guy gets really ticked off.
Speaker:So what do they hire a super?
Speaker:They hire some nurse, who's hot, who's super hot nurse, who was it?
Speaker:He's okay, we'll pretend you're just judo champion, who can possibly
Speaker:help you heal up your hand faster.
Speaker:So he goes over, and it's just this super hot nurse.
Speaker:What and he was like very sexual with him for some reason and she's like people
Speaker:keep staring at his chair at her chest Yeah, and she's you know what we could
Speaker:do is I could just numb up your hand Haha, so you don't feel the pain but
Speaker:afterwards it's gonna it'll fucking hurt.
Speaker:It'll hurt so bad You're like even to the and then Takamura was like, I
Speaker:haven't even done much talk so Actually, the nurse follows them to one of their
Speaker:training Oh yeah, by the way, we forgot to say, Takamura also won a belt himself.
Speaker:Yes, Takamura and like Very easily, I might add.
Speaker:Yeah, he won a well He was, he he got hit down a couple of times, but then Ippo was
Speaker:like, Hey, I believe in you, Takamura.
Speaker:You're the greatest.
Speaker:And Takamura was like, Bro, I can't lose in front of the squad?
Speaker:And then that's how he wins beats this guy.
Speaker:He's Bro, my motivation is to look good in front of the squad and the hoes.
Speaker:That's my motivation.
Speaker:But she, so Whenever he goes to see the doctor, right?
Speaker:Because what ends up happening is Ippo Accepts it's listen, I can't box for two
Speaker:months like even three months, right?
Speaker:It's three months.
Speaker:Yeah, he can't box for three months because he has his whole fist has to heal
Speaker:but the actual fight Is in two months.
Speaker:It's like in two and a half, two months because his former bullies come up to him
Speaker:and are like, Hey, yeah, congratulations.
Speaker:You're the champion.
Speaker:And he's, yeah, they're all his friends now for some reason.
Speaker:And he is you guys have been watching my fights.
Speaker:He's we've been watching every single one of 'em.
Speaker:We've been cheering you on, man.
Speaker:He's you guys have been beat my ass for 10 years, 15 years, it's
Speaker:cringe, but all right, you're cool, I guess I have some fans, whatever.
Speaker:And he's like, when's your next, you're gonna, you're gonna really kill it
Speaker:in the All Japan tournament, right?
Speaker:And he's not really, I broke my hand.
Speaker:And they're like, oh, man, you gotta fight.
Speaker:And I also bring him to their other bully friends, the other gangster friends,
Speaker:and the other gangster friends are like, oh, you're a hero, and he's seriously?
Speaker:You guys all hated me before.
Speaker:But then what he ends up doing is he ends up helping his mom out
Speaker:with her fishing business, right?
Speaker:Because he's just doing basically road work.
Speaker:And then, what he ends up doing is asking his mom, because the Sindoh guy comes
Speaker:to him and is dude, we got to fight.
Speaker:You a bitch, right?
Speaker:You a bitch?
Speaker:And he's bro.
Speaker:This guy is fucking crazy.
Speaker:Why do you care about fighting so much?
Speaker:And he's I just got that dog in me.
Speaker:Dude, so he jumps on a flight.
Speaker:Yeah, and flies all the way over to Ippo just to tell him that he has to fight.
Speaker:Because he's sitting there bugging everybody.
Speaker:And the thing with Sendoh is Insert sad backstory, Sendo's parents are dead, he
Speaker:lives with his grandmother, and he gets into fights to prove how strong he can be,
Speaker:so that way he's I have to be strongest so I can be the strongest for my grandma.
Speaker:And so then, because he's the all western hero, right?
Speaker:He's like a hometown hero over there, and he's no longer a gangster like
Speaker:person, he's like a hometown hero, and the and these little kids are
Speaker:like, Hey, you should like, buy us a PlayStation remember you said you'd
Speaker:buy it for us when you became champion?
Speaker:When you became Western champion, and he's Oh, I'll do it when I win the All
Speaker:Japan champion and they're like he's like they're like elementary school
Speaker:kids They're like fascinated with him cuz he's like the hometown hero and
Speaker:they right, you know So everyone but he's I know I don't want to let my
Speaker:hometown down But I just love to fight!
Speaker:People think I'm fighting to save the day!
Speaker:But really, I just like to fight!
Speaker:So he hands the kids, he's I got something better than the video
Speaker:game I said I was gonna get you all.
Speaker:Here's some money.
Speaker:Here's some tickets.
Speaker:Oh, tickets to the fight.
Speaker:To see me fight these people.
Speaker:And even He so Ippo, when he comes and bugs everybody in the gym,
Speaker:Ippo then comes in and he's Ah!
Speaker:It means Sendoh.
Speaker:Sendoh.
Speaker:When Sendoh comes to bug everyone in the gym, and, but then Ippo
Speaker:comes in and Sendoh's There you are!
Speaker:And he's We gotta fight right now!
Speaker:We gotta fight!
Speaker:And he was like, Who the fuck are you, man?
Speaker:Really?
Speaker:What are you doing?
Speaker:I don't know who you are.
Speaker:Are you kidding me?
Speaker:You don't know who I am?
Speaker:I'm the Western Champion!
Speaker:You're the Eastern Champion?
Speaker:I'm the Western Champion.
Speaker:We got to settle this.
Speaker:And the coach is like I'm not gonna lie, Sendo's one of my favorite characters.
Speaker:And the coach is Hey why don't you go do some road work since You
Speaker:can't your fist is all messed up and Sendoh's that's a great idea.
Speaker:Let's go do some road work.
Speaker:We gotta do it together, hurry.
Speaker:And he's can you keep up with me?
Speaker:And Ippo's what are you doing here, man?
Speaker:What is your issue?
Speaker:But then because Sendoh wants to fight so bad, Ippo's you know what?
Speaker:I actually really want to beat this guy's ass.
Speaker:So then that's when, that's why he goes and begs his coach like, Okay,
Speaker:we gotta find someone to help me out with this so I can beat up this guy.
Speaker:Yeah, his mom, he goes to his mom and he's Listen, is there
Speaker:anybody that we work with?
Speaker:Don't you have a doctor or something that you work with?
Speaker:Can you please set me up an appointment?
Speaker:And then that's what happens.
Speaker:And then the doctor comes.
Speaker:That's the judo champion.
Speaker:Yeah, she comes out of nowhere.
Speaker:I don't know how she knows where they're training.
Speaker:I think, no, not the, his coach calls her.
Speaker:Oh, yes.
Speaker:And then, so they're doing the crab walks.
Speaker:They're doing crab walks to strengthen.
Speaker:She then puts him on this regiment to strengthen his hand.
Speaker:His shoulder.
Speaker:And his, because he's look, you've been throwing all these punches so hard, but
Speaker:your shoulder muscles are really weak.
Speaker:You're putting too much force into just your hand and forearm, and
Speaker:that's why you broke your hand.
Speaker:You punched so hard.
Speaker:That you broke your hand, but not That your body can't handle
Speaker:how tremendous your power is.
Speaker:I'm just like, what?
Speaker:That's, what?
Speaker:That's not, but that's So then you need to build up your shoulder Like, you
Speaker:can't even throw it that hard if your shoulder muscle's that messed up, but,
Speaker:that's the thing like in baseball, right?
Speaker:You cannot, I think it's like you can't throw faster than like 108 miles
Speaker:an hour or 110 miles an hour because the law of physics literally won't
Speaker:allow your arm to throw that fast.
Speaker:I have heard that before, but the amount of times that scientists
Speaker:have said, The laws of physics say, and then humans do it anyway.
Speaker:That was like the that was like the thing with back in The four minute mile?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:They said it was physically against the laws of physics for
Speaker:anyone to run a four minute mile.
Speaker:Then some guy does it back in like the early 1900s, and since
Speaker:then tons of people do it.
Speaker:It's very common to, it's hard to do, but it's still people
Speaker:in my high school did that.
Speaker:I think that My, my low, my lowest time is is for a mile.
Speaker:When I was in high school and running like that I was a part of the track
Speaker:team it was like 425 so I'm and I'm not a professional track athlete.
Speaker:So if mine was 425 Mine was 920 You shouldn't admit that doubt that whoof this
Speaker:you take off those Rockley weights, right?
Speaker:But yeah, so that's what kind of happened between 21 through 30.
Speaker:We are rolling through this anime right now.
Speaker:Yeah, we are definitely rolling through this anime and but anyway, so what ends
Speaker:up happening though at the end though is we find out that he is going to try
Speaker:and fight and then that's what Sendoh is oh my god, I'm gonna have to fight.
Speaker:And yeah, upcoming, and then I hear the next episode is filler, but we'll
Speaker:find out, we'll find out next time.
