- Cervidae: A family (category) of mammals including moose, elk, caribou/reindeer, and different species of deer. In most species, males grow and shed antlers each year, they have split hooves. They are ruminants meaning they have four stomach compartments and chew cud.
- Herbivore: Creatures that eat only plants, such as leaves, grass, fruits, or vegetables.
- Antler: Branching bones that grow on the heads of deer family animals. They grow each year covered in soft velvet, harden for the season, then fall off (shed) and regrow.
