Picture the persistent sin that continually returns as a personal Goliath—intimidating, taunting, and seemingly impossible to defeat. Dr. Dave explains that besetting sin skillfully surrounds believers in areas of weakness, often producing discouragement after repeated failures. Yet David's response to Goliath provides a powerful picture of faith: he determined that the giant could be defeated. Christians must likewise reject doubt, remember previous victories, and recognize that although they can accomplish nothing apart from Christ, through Him they possess the strength necessary to stand against sin.

Section 2

Preparation becomes essential when confronting something that has repeatedly gained influence in our lives. Just as David prepared before facing Goliath, Dr. Dave identifies prayer, God's Word, Christian fellowship, sensitivity to spiritual warfare, and being filled with the Holy Spirit as vital resources for believers. The sin that continually taunts someone may appear powerful, but it remains a trespasser rather than an owner. Victory begins when Christians recognize the obstacle honestly, refuse to surrender to it, and make a deliberate decision to confront it through faith in Jesus Christ.

Ultimately, the believer's victory over sin rests upon the blood of Jesus, the grace of God, and the freedom Christ has already secured. Scripture declares that sin no longer has the right to reign as master because Christians are under grace rather than law. Dr. Dave encourages believers to approach God's presence through the new and living way Jesus provided, counting themselves dead to sin and alive to God. Instead of offering themselves as instruments of wickedness, they can yield themselves to righteousness. The power for victory is available, but believers must choose to take their stand.
