Shownotes

In this episode of The Kingdom Corner, Matt Geib continues his prayer to obliterate oppression from Ephesians 3, finishing up 4b-6 of his 6-point prayer.

[00:02:50] Matt reiterates his first 3 points: (1) From Eph. 3:16b – Be infused with the power of His spirit in the inner man to give you stamina and perseverance. (2) From Eph. 3:17a – Receive the power to remain, abide, or dwell in Christ. (3) From Eph. 3:17b – Receive the power of establishment by love. (4a) From Eph. 3:16 – Receive the power to connect with and influence the Kingdom of God, that is, His people.

[00:06:27] Matt discusses the “breadth” of Christ’s redemptive work being spoken of here by Paul and the church’s call to “comprehend” it.

[00:08:25] Matt further discusses the “length” of God’s calling on the believer’s life, referencing Ephesians 1:18 and 1 Peter 1:18-20, along with a myriad of other verses that attest to God’s choosing and calling of each believer from before the foundation of the world.

[00:10:39] Matt moves on to the “depth” of the sin from which the believer is saved and the depth of God’s wisdom in that salvation.

[00:11:01] Matt’s continues to the “height” at which we sit together with Christ in heavenly places, referencing Ephesians 2:6.

[00:11:57] Point #5: We must pray to receive the power to receive the love of Christ experientially. Matt talks of the uselessness of head knowledge absent of a living experience with God – a “gnosis”.

[00:14:21] “You can’t really love God until you let Him first love you.”

[00:15:02] Point #6: From Ephesians 3:19b – “Pray for the power to receive God’s fullness”. Matt references 1 John 3:2, that when Jesus appears, we will be like Him for we will see Him as He truly is.

[00:16:52] Matt expounds on the beautiful capacity of believers to experience God in His fullness here and now through encountering Christ – without any need to wait until heaven.

[00:20:40] Matt recaps his 6 points and a summary of this prayer to obliterate oppression. He wraps up this episode referencing 2 Corinthians 9:8 and God’s abounding grace, saying that upon praying through this prayer to obliterate oppression, God will be faithful to deliver to you His abounding grace to overcome.
