“If you tell yourself ‘I need alcohol to have a good time and be confident,’ then you’re always going to be reliant on it.”
Health and fitness advocate, professional dancer and author of Plant to Plate, Healthy Chef Steph Elswood joins the Joyful Drinker podcast to share her story of quitting booze for good, how she overcame the social stigma surrounding sobriety, and how the power of music and dance can help inspire and grow confidence in anyone.
From not sweating the big stuff and enjoying the small positives in life, to celebrating movement in all its forms, Steph shares her journey from setting up her body confidence Stay Sassy dance sessions, through to moderating her relationship with alcohol – and why giving up the booze has seen positive benefits she did not expect!
In this podcast, Steph opens up about the passing of a close family member in 2016 and how that inspired her to fulfil her ambition, she shares tips on how setting personal limits can help deal with hang-xiety, and whether she would ever go back to drinking alcohol or if she’s content with her decision.
