Teens ages 15-19 are actively asserting independence with confidence but may also feel fragile and insecure about their upcoming adult lives. They will naturally test limits and break rules. In fact, the conditions of adolescent development increase the likelihood that they will break rules, such as your teen’s need for risk taking, their need to belong and seek approval of peers, their desire for increasing independence, and their sexual curiosity and development. This is part of their development and needed for their learning and growth.
