I don't like a binary choice - yes/no, on/off, least of all.... black/white. Let's have all the choices in between. What are you making a hard and fast choice and what can you bring a bit of lightness to? Most of my strong opinions are lightly held and I'm ready for a conversation about why I might be wrong. I'm very aware that I ALWAYS might be wrong and I'm pretty comfortable with that!

I hope you enjoy the episode today. Let's get straight to it.
-:
Things are rarely black and white, but before we begin today's episode would you like to hear a story about how I thought
-:
I was winning at life and how I then found out I wasn't.
-:
I do a strength training class 3 times a week.
-:
I know, get me, That already sounds like I'm winning at life.
-:
I missed my class on Monday though and that's because I had set the alarm on my phone incorrectly.
-:
It turns out I hadn't set the alarm at all. I'd set 6:15 a. M on my calculator. Reality check. Oh, how very human I am.
-:
I'm not perfect and yet, actually, I'm not imperfect either.
-:
It was just a lesson learned and also something vaguely entertaining to put on my Instagram feed this week.
-:
I'm somewhere on the continuum between perfect and entirely imperfect, somewhere in between one thing and another.
-:
I've had a few conversations recently about black or white opinions.
-:
I am someone who holds very few binary opinions.
-:
I don't like yesno or on, off, or black, white as choices.
-:
In fact, black or white makes me feel sad from a colour choice point of view.
-:
And don't even give me shades of grey, that doesn't make me feel better. Give me full on Technicolour.
-:
Let me name my choice my colour, and I encourage you to name yours.
-:
When I was thinking about my biggest opinions today, the things that I would say are the hills I'd die on.
-:
I actually thought to myself, even those are lightly persuaded one way or another.
-:
I'd be open to conversation, disagreement, agreement, and coming round to somebody else's point of view. So big opinions lightly held.
-:
My Drink Less Live Better clients have a whole range of goals, intentions and focuses.
-:
Some are based around alcohol, working perhaps one day at a time, some are never drinking again and some are counting days,
-:
some are working on a harm reduction plan, but always there is a plan.
-:
My other life coaching clients don't have alcohol as a focus at all.
-:
It's either well in their rear view mirror or never featured as an issue in the first place.
-:
We are focused on family goals, relationships, careers and other more exciting and expansive plans.
-:
A common theme is moving from chaos or confusion towards calm.
-:
I know some people are looking for purpose, passion, joy and excitement in their lives but for me establishing a baseline
-:
that feels safe, secure, stable and above all calm is a perfect point to build from.
-:
If you've lived through very chaotic times, finding predictability can feel like a huge relief, a warm embrace, a moment to pause and breathe. Just breathe.
-:
I love bringing predictability to my clients' lives.
-:
Be careful when you're thinking about what you want next.
-:
The answers might not be binary and that's a good thing.
-:
Give yourself a whole range of different options. Check out the show notes today.
