Thirty years ago in a dusty church basement in East Camden, a vision was set in motion that would create a dramatic positive impact in the community and eventually change the world. Bruce and a group of college missionaries created a summer camp for neighborhood children--providing a safe, loving, fun, and creative place for local youth to escape dangerous city streets. Thanks to Bruce and those college students the Urban Promise mission has turned into a global operation.

Bruce is an adjunct faculty member at Eastern University and co-authored the book Revolution & Renewal: How Churches Are Saving Our Cities with Dr. Tony Campolo, professor emeritus at Eastern and renowned sociologist and Christian leader.
