Hello there, and welcome to the Joyfully Black podcast, where we have candid conversations with black women on nourishing their mental well being, while balancing career, family life and community care. I'm your host Joy Dixon, a public health professional turned woman in tech, and lover of seeing people thrive in their zone of genius.

Hello, hello. Hey, y'all. Oh my gosh, we are officially in season two of Joyfully, Black. Oh, and Happy Women's History Month to each of you. We are in March. Now some of you may have been wondering what I have been up to since season one. As some of you may know, my busiest season at work is during late spring through early fall and so much of my mental capacity and energy is spent working with my clients during my day job. I thought to myself, that I definitely should take the advice that I share on the podcast that our wonderful guests have shared. So.. yes definitely wanted to make sure I had the bandwidth for all the things that I really enjoyed doing. But don't worry! I did make time for play.

concert, which was not on my:

These were all things that feed my spirit and fed my spirit. Oh, and your girl has gone to two, not one but two yoga classes this year. Yes, in the year of our Lord twenty twenty-three. And I gotta say, I enjoyed it. Yes, a whole me who has stated the opposite in previous podcasts. Yes, I know, I know what I have said, I have stated in previous podcasts that yoga was not for me. But you know, shout out to the bestie Rosie, for gifting me with sessions for my birthday. You know, I mentioned really wanting to give it another try because I thought it would force or compel me to stretch between my usual dance classes and resistance training. And it really made me think you know, her gift. And I've told her this, but actually not this part. I don't think I've shared this with her. But as I'm speaking now, I have to say, it's really a blessing to have me in my life because that feels like something I would do for someone if they said it. And so if you ever have said the phrase, "I need me a me", you know exactly what I mean. And so anyway, shout out to Rose! I appreciate you.
