Shownotes

It is easy to feel like you are falling behind other tutors or education businesses. In this episode, I explain why that feeling is often a sign that you are simply in a different stage, not doing something wrong.

I talk about business seasons, why comparing yourself to someone in a different phase is unhelpful, and how focusing on the work that fits your current stage supports long term business growth.

Enjoy :-)

Sumantha:

It is very easy to feel like you are falling behind. Behind other tutors, behind other businesses, behind where you think you should be right now. But often, when you really look at it, you are not behind at all. You are just early in your cycle.

Sumantha:

Someone else might be in a phase where they are getting the payoff from seeds they planted a few months ago, while you are planting those seeds now and will see the payoff later. You might be in a building phase, and comparing those two phases will always make you feel like you are failing.

Sumantha:

Every business has seasons, and many of those seasons are invisible. There are periods where the work is foundational rather than visible. Feeling behind is often a sign that you are judging yourself at the wrong moment or against the wrong criteria.

Sumantha:

So instead of asking why you are not further ahead, ask what stage you are actually in and whether you are doing the right things for that stage. If you are planting seeds now, do not compare yourself to someone who planted theirs months ago. That shift can change how you feel, your energy, and your motivation.
