Mentioned in this episode:
So the law of inspired action is important because a lot of people who get into personal growth or metaphysics or the law of attraction mistakenly think that they can just sit on their sofa eating Cheesy poofs and watching Netflix and manifest a million dollars into their bank account. And that's not the way that it works. So this is why Scripture says, faith without works is dead. And the idea is that you have to believe and intend to and you have to take action. Now, I don't want you to confuse that with having to hustle and grind your way to success. But the invitation is to recognize that action is required to allow creation to work through us. So we have the capacity to attract thoughts and ideas. But ultimately, we are the vehicle through which those ideas become manifest in reality, and they become manifest through the consistent daily actions that we take. And when we're aligned, we can take action from an inspired place, and from there, we're even more likely to produce extraordinary results. But it is essential to act on opportunities, to follow through on inspiration and to do something meaningful with the ideas that we receive.
Welcome to a Changed Mind, a journey into the topics that matter to you most. From the neuroscience and spirituality of mindset and personal growth, to groundbreaking strategies for health, wealth, and relationships, to open and honest conversations about pressing global issues such as the environment, censorship, corporate capitalism, and democracy, Each and every episode reminds us of the certainty, of the goodness of the future and provides the teachings, tools, and timeless wisdom inspiring you to create real, lasting change in your life and in the world. If you've been desiring a sanctuary for your spirit, a place to go to tune out the distraction, negativity, and doom and gloom so that you can tap into the deep power, the vibrancy, and the potential you have inside.
You're in the right place.
Welcome to a changed mind.
All right, guys, let's start with the one law that connects them all. That is the Law of Divine Oneness. So the law of Divine Oneness is the idea that everything is connected and that the entire material world is actually a projection and a reflection of one alive consciousness. You can sort of think of reality as a single superorganism. Some people may call it the One or the all that Is or the Universe or God or a law. The law says that whatever your individual actions are, they affect the larger whole and that each and every one of us is an individual expression of the one consciousness, but we're all part of the same whole. So when you begin to understand that, it invites you to start questioning and evaluating Your behavior towards others. Because effectively, your behavior towards others is the way you treat yourself. So when you do something loving for someone else, you're actually doing something loving for yourself. When you give to someone else, you're actually giving to yourself. And when you do harm to someone else, you're harming yourself. So the law of divine Oneness invites us to consider, how are we treating other people? Perhaps its simplest expression is in the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Number two is the law of vibration. So the law of vibration articulates that everything is energy. And that's true as we examine the physical world more and more closely. And we start looking from what appears to be solids to molecules, to atoms, to electrons, and then deeper still, what we find is a kind of non physicality. It's an energy or a potential or a frequency or a vibration that sits at the bottom of it all. So why is this important? Because when we understand that everything has a frequency and that our thoughts and emotions also have a frequency, we can begin to understand that our thoughts and emotions shape and architect our reality. It also invites us to consider, what is my frequency? Your frequency is best understood as your consistent habit of thought and habit of emotion. So what emotional state do you generally inhabit? Are you a happy person? Are you a worried person? Do you lean towards being an angry person? David Hawkins, one of the great spiritual teachers of the 20th century, arranged these frequencies on a scale that he wrote about in his book Power vs Force. And part of the evolution of your consciousness is your ability to begin inhabiting higher and higher emotional states. And as you do that, you raise your vibration. And as you raise your vibration, you create a more productive reality. And that takes us to law number three, the Law of Attraction. So Law of Attraction became one of the fundamental principles of the New Age movement, was made really popular by the book and later the movie the Secret. But this is an ancient esoteric principle that's been around for thousands of years. And the Law of Attraction builds off the law of Vibration. So it says that whatever frequency you're operating from, you will attract circumstances and situations that match that frequency. So if you're consistently living in gratitude and prosperity and abundance through the Law of Attraction, you'll create circumstances and situations that reflect that gratitude and abundance back to you. If you're consistently living in a frequency of, say, frustration, you'll manufacture and organize circumstances that will frustrate you. So the Law of Attraction says that what you consistently put out there, you'll get back what you focus on or bring your attention to, you'll create more of. And the good news is, is that if you shift your focus, you shift your perception. And as you shift your perception, you shift how you feel. And as you shift how you feel, you can literally transform your reality. Law number four is the law of correspondence. The law of correspondence is best described by the ancient hermetic principle as above, so below. And so it builds on the law of Attraction. And it says that your external reality is a mirror of your internal state or your internal consciousness. So this has also been called the mirror principle. And you can begin to know what you believe by looking at what you've crystallized or manifested across different areas of your life, from your business to your career to your relationships to your health. What patterns do you see, and what might those patterns be reflecting back to you about what's happening inside of you? So the law of correspondence says that if you want to transform your external reality, you have to shift something inside. And this is very much in alignment with Jesus's teaching. Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. So as you shift something internally, life begins to organize externally to match that internal shift. This is the law of correspondence. M number five is the law of inspired action. And the idea is that you have to believe and intend and you have to take action. Now, I don't want you to confuse that with having to hustle and grind your way to success. But the invitation is to recognize that action is required to allow creation to work through us. So we have the capacity to attract thoughts and ideas. But ultimately, we are the vehicle through which those ideas become manifest in reality. And they become manifest through the consistent daily actions that we take. And when we're aligned, we can take action from an inspired place. And from there, we're even more likely to produce extraordinary results. But it is essential to act on opportunities, to follow through on inspiration, and to do something meaningful with the ideas that we receive. Law number six is the law of perpetual transmutation of energy. Now, I know that sounds like a word salad, but the law of perpetual transmutation of energy says that Energy is always transforming and changing shape. So this is helpful to understand because we all experience circumstances that we would view as problems. But when we realize that everything is energy and energy is always changing form, we can also realize something, something really important, which is the problems that show up in our lives are problems that come to pass, not to stay. So I want you to just look back on your own life. The truth is that every challenge you've ever experienced has transformed at some point in time into something that we would call a solution. And a lot of times that happened without nearly as much involvement from you as you thought it would require. So this understanding invites us to navigate through life unattached to the material world exactly as it's showing up in the present moment. Because change is a part of its nature. And it also invites us to be unattached to the things that we have or enjoy or desire, because those things are going to change too. The Buddha taught that much of our suffering comes from attachment, from wanting a fixed reality when reality is not intended to be fixed. The law of perpetual transmutation invites us into the practice of non attachment, knowing that life is always changing form. Law number seven is the law of cause and effect, also known as the law of Karma. So every action, including every thought that we think, has a consequence. And what you do creates effects, whether immediately or over time. And this law encourages us to take personal responsibility, to become conscious of our intentions, and to recognize that whatever deposits we make into reality, we will receive as withdrawals later on. So you can't do harm in the world without that harm coming back to you. And you can't do good in the world without. Without that good coming back to you. It's also a reminder when we witness other people's actions and we worry that they're getting away with something. You know, we live in a world where there can appear to be tremendous corruption and wrongdoing, but the law of cause and effect allows us to trust that, uh, we don't have to personally intervene to make every wrong right or make the whole world just. The law of cause and effect, or the law of Karma, will handle that. Our responsibility is to pay attention to the intentions and actions we are putting into the world. Law number eight is the law of compensation. The law of compensation says that what you contribute will return to you in some form. And it speaks to the scriptural idea that you reap what you sow. And oftentimes we expect to get something directly in return for something that we do. And when we don't Receive it, we become upset. Uh, you know, I did this for you, so therefore you owe me this thing. But the law of compensation is actually nonlinear. So you can do good for one person, and the good may not come back from that person. It may come back, and it will come back from an entirely different source. And that's what makes this such a beautiful principle. Because it allows us to give without holding back and without expectation. So we don't have to keep score with the person in front of us. We can trust that through the law of compensation, what we've given will at some point return to us. And usually as a multiple of what we gave. Though we may not know where or when it will arrive. Law number nine is the law of relativity. The law of relativity says that our experiences gain meaning through comparison and perspective. So what looks good or bad can look very different depending on the perspective from which you view it. And this reminds me of the parable of the wise farmer and the ignorant neighbor. So a series of things happens to the farmer, and the neighbor keeps judging each event as either good or bad. But the wise farmer's response is always the same. Essentially, who knows what's good or bad? So something happens, and we immediately decide this is terrible. And then more of the story unfolds. And what we call terrible becomes the path to something we're grateful for. So we need the dark in order to understand the light. We need experiences we don't desire in order to recognize and appreciate the ones that we do. And when we realize that our judgments depend on perspective, we may find a place of non judgment and non criticism. Like we can acknowledge that we're what we're experiencing while remembering that there may be multiple ways to view it. And that we may not yet see the whole picture. Law number 10 is the law of polarity. So the law of polarity is related to the law of relativity. It speaks to the positive and the negative, the hot and the cold, the light and the dark. The law says that these are different degrees of the same thing. So hot and cold, for example, are different degrees of temperature. We can also think about love and hate as occupying opposite extremes of the same spectrum. And what the law of polarity affords us is a broader perspective. Because instead of immediately condemning one pole and clinging to the other, we can recognize the opposites are part of a whole. So contrast is part of what allows us to have a full experience of reality. And this understanding can help us live with less judgment and criticism. And in a more frequent state of forgiveness. That doesn't mean we have to prefer every experience that we have. It means we can recognize that the opposites we encounter are part of the larger whole. Law number 11 is the law of rhythm. The law of rhythm helps us understand that life moves through cycles and that those cycles are normal. Growth and decline, activity and rest, gains and losses. It's related to the law of perpetual transmutation of energy. But it gives us a specific way to understand change. Nothing remains at one extreme indefinitely. And I don't know about you, but this is a really helpful reminder. It's helpful when you're in a circumstance that you don't like. Maybe your business is in a contraction. Maybe you're in a season of financial insecurity. Maybe you're experiencing chronic pain. But the law of rhythm reminds us that this too shall pass. We live in seasons. Sometimes it's a season of harvest. Sometimes it's a season of letting go of what no longer serves us. And when you understand that you can experience the season that you're in from a place of less resistance and less attachment, you can still do what's yours to do. But you may also find peace and calm, regardless of what's happening in your external reality, knowing that the season will change. Law number 12 is the law of gender. So the law of gender is traditionally described as masculine and feminine energies existing within creation. And I'm not necessarily talking about biological sex. I'm talking about qualities that exist within the whole of life. There's contraction and expansion. There's the structure required to live fully. And there's also the freedom and flexibility required to feel fully. And you can see this as you look at the natural world. Like we find masculine and feminine principles. We find things that govern nature. For example, spontaneity of a hurricane or a sunset or the smell of a flower. But then patterns and structures of how we see laws functioning in the natural world. So we get to experience both. Both components are necessary for a full lived experience. Sometimes there's action, Sometimes there's receptivity or rest. Sometimes there's giving, Sometimes there's receiving. And traditional society tends to compartmentalize these qualities as man and woman. But they express themselves universally as two complementary qualities required for the entire whole to function. So those are the 12 laws. And when you hear them together, you begin to see how they relate. Like the law of divine oneness reminds you that you're connected to everything. Vibration and attraction ask you to become conscious of the thoughts and the emotions that you habitually live in. Correspondence asks what your outer world may be reflecting about your inner world. Inspired action reminds us that we are in instrument of creation, but we have to do the work. And when circumstances change, as they inevitably will, transmutation and rhythm invite us to meet that change without becoming attached to one fixed version of reality. Cause and effect and compensation ask us to take responsibility for what we put into the world and to give without keeping score. Relativity and polarity remind us that there may be more to an experience than just our first judgment of it. And lastly, gender invites us to recognize when life calls for action and when it calls for receptivity. So here's what I invite you to do. Notice which of these laws speaks to something you're experiencing right now, and then ask yourself, if I truly understood and lived in alignment with this principle, what would change about the way I think, feel or act today? That's where these laws stop being ideas and they start becoming a way of living. So I hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I love sharing it with you. I only asked two things.
