Shownotes

I get it. Sometimes podcasting doesn't feel like it should be the priority. There's other "money making activites" that you should be doing.

Like maybe trying to keep up with creating content for all the social media platforms?

Frankly, I'm over it, and so are alot of my biz besties. In this episode I am going to share with you why I think it SUPER SMART to double down on your podcast right now and take the time to build out marketing systems that will save you so much time and energy later.

If you commit to being intentional about this for a year, the possibilities will be endless but i can tell you that you won't regret it.

Speaker:

Okay, so this is a little bit outside

of what I normally talk about, kind of,

2

:

but me and my business friends have been

really having a lot of these conversations

3

:

lately, and I just needed to share.

4

:

This conversation because

I know that I'm not alone.

5

:

I know that if me and my business

friends are having this conversation,

6

:

that this might also relate to you two.

7

:

So two things, two other things.

8

:

Um, I am now back in the closet recording.

9

:

So I'm recording this from

my phone in the closet.

10

:

So FYI, you can record from your

closet, you can record from your phone.

11

:

Um, you don't have to have a

fancy setup to make it work.

12

:

And number two, I am now in.,

Jersey City officially, officially

13

:

moved, and, um, there's sirens

like crazy, so it really is hard.

14

:

My mic is currently not

working with my computer.

15

:

I don't know what the

deal is, so whatever.

16

:

sometimes you gotta do what

the frick you gotta do, right?

17

:

So anyway, conversation.

18

:

We're over social media.

19

:

That is the conversation.

20

:

We're over social media.

21

:

We're over the having to feel like you're

pulling teeth to sell your stuff, turning

22

:

tricks, and you know, having to show up

10 times a day and then going and having

23

:

to engage and then going live and then

having to make this content and doing

24

:

this like the content creation hamster

wheel is exhausting, and we are exhausted.

25

:

So if you are feeling that , you

are not alone in that.

26

:

Okay?

27

:

And so.

28

:

What I wanna say about that is

that I know that sometimes, and I

29

:

was actually having a conversation

with, uh, my friend Crystal, who

30

:

actually, who was just telling me

she has an idea for a third podcast.

31

:

She has two.

32

:

And I, I was joking with her about

bringing her, um, up, you know,

33

:

front and center and highlighting

her for a podcast and Prosecco

34

:

event that's going on in April.

35

:

If you didn't know, now, you know, and

you need to go get a ticket to come.

36

:

But I was like, you know what?

37

:

You need to come and speak at my

event about how to be consistent.

38

:

Like the biggest thing that I hear

from people all the time is that

39

:

they can't, they feel like they can't

be consistent or they can't make

40

:

it work, or it takes too much time.

41

:

And this bitch literally is about

to start a third fucking podcast.

42

:

And she is so consistent.

43

:

She is consistent as fuck.

44

:

And it just, and we were just talking

about it and I was like, I need you to

45

:

like tell people what your secret is,

which is like just fucking doing it.

46

:

That's the secret.

47

:

So anyway, I know that it feels

like there is a lot of things to do.

48

:

I know that it feels like this

is one extra thing on top of what

49

:

you're currently doing because this

content hamster wheel is crazy.

50

:

And I know the reason why we stay on the

hamster wheel because it's the reason

51

:

why we all stay on the hamster wheel.

52

:

It's because it's, it gets us paid.

53

:

It's how we get paid.

54

:

So we have to do the thing that

feels immediate, which is posting

55

:

the thing on social media.

56

:

Because creating a podcast, like

sitting here, creating a podcast

57

:

doesn't always feel like that's getting

you the return that you're wanting.

58

:

Like it doesn't always feel

like it's doing the thing that

59

:

it's supposed to do right away.

60

:

It feels like it's the long game.

61

:

It feels like we put this content out

and nothing happens, and it can be the

62

:

long game, but I believe that it is the

game that is gonna get you off of the

63

:

hamster wheel, and I think that that is

so valuable and there's so much value.

64

:

In taking the time to really develop

a podcast and , not just a podcast,

65

:

but a marketing system around

your podcast that actually, I.

66

:

Works for you.

67

:

That actually works for you.

68

:

I don't mean just like works for you.

69

:

I mean actually like, works for

you, like it's your employee,

70

:

like it's its job like, it's like

you have a silent salesperson.

71

:

Like you have somebody that's that's

working for you in the background.

72

:

That's what I mean by works for you.

73

:

I think that that is really important.

74

:

But we get sidetracked because we have

all of this other stuff to do, and I say

75

:

we, because this is a collective thing, we

have all this other things to do like it.

76

:

It feels very important to.

77

:

Keep up with social media

content because that is where our

78

:

immediate money is coming from.

79

:

That is where our immediate

sales are coming from.

80

:

Because we never took the time to

build out systems, we never took

81

:

the time to build out automations.

82

:

We never took the time to create our blog

and YouTube and podcast and evergreen

83

:

content that'll work for us in the

background all the time, because social

84

:

media is so fast and quick and easy.

85

:

And so that's what we did.

86

:

And then.

87

:

Years in to your business, you

feel burnt out or you feel like.

88

:

There has to be a better way

than having to show up all the

89

:

time or when you don't show up.

90

:

Nothing happens.

91

:

When you don't show up, nothing happens.

92

:

And so that is what we, this is, that

is what we collectively have been

93

:

talking about and have been like.

94

:

Enough is enough about me and you know,

other business besties that I have

95

:

and friends, and just what I've been

hearing in general in the industry

96

:

is that people are kind of over it.

97

:

People are kind of tired.

98

:

People are wanting a different way and.

99

:

I, I think it's a hundred percent

worth it to take the time and to

100

:

take the effort to really build out

those systems so that you're not in

101

:

that situation this time next year.

102

:

And yeah, it takes time.

103

:

Yeah.

104

:

It takes effort.

105

:

Yeah.

106

:

It takes commitment.

107

:

Yeah.

108

:

It takes all of those things to

really build out the thing that

109

:

you're wanting to build out.

110

:

It's going to, it's not gonna be

something that is happens overnight,

111

:

Like you, you might not get your first

client in a month of building it out.

112

:

You might not.

113

:

I mean, yeah, I do.

114

:

I have clients who immediately

after launching their podcast,

115

:

they get their first client.

116

:

But, eventually the system

will start working for you.

117

:

And so it's really one of those

things where you have to take

118

:

the time to build the thing.

119

:

Now that saves you time later or you're

never gonna get off of the hamster wheel.

120

:

So if you could give yourself.

121

:

You know, six months or a year of

really concentrated intentional

122

:

effort of building these systems out

of creating this evergreen content

123

:

marketing systems that are working for

you in the background all the time.

124

:

Think about.

125

:

What a better position you would be

in this time next year if you really

126

:

took the year to commit to that

127

:

versus if you spend the rest of the

year doing what you have been doing.

128

:

, if you spend the rest of the year

continuing to show up, putting

129

:

out all the fires, all the time,

running around, posting all the time.

130

:

Having to be there because you're

making the money and that's where

131

:

you wanna put your priority because

the podcast is not the priority.

132

:

Think about where that's

gonna get you in a year.

133

:

It's gonna leave you in the exact same

spot that you're already in, having to run

134

:

around and put the fires out all the time.

135

:

Having to show up every day, all the time

on social media in order to get sales.

136

:

Because in social media, you

have to be consistent as fuck.

137

:

You have to show up.

138

:

That's how the algorithm works.

139

:

You have to show up and although

you can systematize social media,

140

:

you can repurpose your posts.

141

:

There's things that you

can do to make it easier.

142

:

I'm not saying not to use it,

I'm not saying that at all.

143

:

I don't think I'll ever not

use it, but what I'm saying is.

144

:

Is that this idea that you can put

off building this evergreen marketing

145

:

system, or if you like podcasting and

that's your thing, obviously you're

146

:

here, you like podcasting and you

wanna do a podcast, so use podcasting.

147

:

I'm not saying that's the only way.

148

:

I mean, build out a blog,

build out your YouTube.

149

:

Like there's other things that

you can do, but you're here

150

:

because you like podcasting.

151

:

There's something about this

format that you like, something

152

:

about this platform that you like.

153

:

And so use it.

154

:

Use it, utilize it.

155

:

Spend the time to intentionally build

it out, build a marketing system around

156

:

it, and get off of the hamster wheel

that is non-Stop in social media.

157

:

So that is the conversation

that we've been having.

158

:

It's just about how do

we maximize our time?

159

:

How do we maximize our efforts?

160

:

How do we maximize our content?

161

:

How do we.

162

:

Think smarter.

163

:

How do we work smarter and not harder?

164

:

How do we put ourselves

in a better position?

165

:

How do we think long term

instead of short-term?

166

:

Or how do we balance the both?

167

:

How do we balance the

short-term and the long term?

168

:

So yeah, we might still need to

show up on social media every day

169

:

because that's immediate, and we

need to be there to sell because

170

:

we haven't built these systems out.

171

:

But how are we intentionally

creating in the background?

172

:

What's gonna get us out of that cycle?

173

:

And here's one thing I know about goals

and creating things, is that if you're

174

:

not intentional, if you don't have a plan,

if you don't have a roadmap, if you don't

175

:

have checks and balances, and a lot of

times if you're not being supported and

176

:

being held accountable for your growth.

177

:

In a certain area, it doesn't get done.

178

:

Think about how many times, think

about all the, I mean, for me

179

:

personally, I could think about the

times I'm like, gonna get fit right.

180

:

And I know how to do all these

things and I'm gonna do these things

181

:

and I'm gonna do it on my own.

182

:

And you know, like, and, and

you don't do it because you do

183

:

these little quick fix things.

184

:

You do these quick fixes to

try to get you there faster, or

185

:

you're trying to do the immediate

thing because nobody wants to do.

186

:

The hard part, which is really simple.

187

:

It's just really just going slower,

changing a few habits, putting

188

:

some systems in place so that

if I would, let's just say we're

189

:

talking about on a get fit journey.

190

:

If I were just committed to making

three small changes throughout the year,

191

:

drinking water every day, getting my

steps in every day, getting my protein

192

:

in every day like that, might think

about the impact that would have if I

193

:

would've stayed consistent in building

that system out for myself or those

194

:

habits out for myself, where I would

be a year from then instead of like

195

:

trying to go really fast and be like,

okay, I'm gonna get fed and go really,

196

:

really hard for a month and then stop.

197

:

It's because it's not sustainable.

198

:

And it's the same thing in business.

199

:

Like, you go really, really

hard, you gotta show up, you

200

:

gotta show up, you gotta show up.

201

:

But if you don't build those

habits and those systems and those

202

:

things in the background that are

working for you, you get burnt out.

203

:

And I think a lot of people collectively

are feeling that burnout, that

204

:

from that high of 2020 when we were

so on social media all the time.

205

:

And, and I think that it's so

timely to take your business.

206

:

To a more sustainable place and build

out really smart systems for yourself.

207

:

So that is the conversation.

208

:

Um, that's what's really just weighing

on me a lot, is just thinking about

209

:

how to be more intentional about

running my business and be more

210

:

intentional about my marketing.

211

:

Go even, even more in just

spending my time building out

212

:

the things that are going to.

213

:

Help my future self, not my

today self, uh, and learning

214

:

how to really balance those two.

215

:

So.

216

:

If you are filling that call and you know

that you wanna go all in and podcasting

217

:

and you know that you wanna build out a

system, you wanna be able to like have

218

:

your podcast be something sustainable

and that's really working for your

219

:

business to bring you new business,

bring you leads, and sell your offers

220

:

and make everything easier in your

marketing or create a marketing system

221

:

around it, then you really need to.

222

:

To get in year of

podcasting, you really do.

223

:

It's a year be on purpose.

224

:

It's a year because it's

an intentional build.

225

:

We're building something,

we're creating something.

226

:

I'm not getting you quick results.

227

:

I'm not promising you quick wins.

228

:

I'm promising you a

marketing system that will.

229

:

Work for you, a marketing system

that will get you off of the social

230

:

media hamster wheel, a marketing

system around a platform that you

231

:

love, where you get to express

yourself and share your brilliance.

232

:

A marketing system that is sustainable

and that will Sustain you content

233

:

that will work for you, that you can

maximize and use in so many different

234

:

ways than one little social media post.

235

:

I'm offering you a

foundation, So that next year.

236

:

This time next year, you

can mark your calendar.

237

:

You can be in a completely different

place, and that would feel really,

238

:

really, really, really good.

239

:

And that is why I really, I really,

really wanna do this with you.

240

:

I really wanna go, I'm
