So it's been same thing, what, two and a half months since we last joined you.

A lot of stuff has happened.

And it was all good, all the time.

I think this might be the most extensively we've decorated in our History to this point.

The fact that we had full on carnival games that you could play in the inner lobby.

That changed out every day.

Why would we do that for you, our audience.

And so that Matt could be a carnival barker and live his.

I was just about to say we unveiled a side of Matt Daturk that glint in his eye that I've never seen, which was like, come up, come, roll up, roll up, suckers.

It is.

Yeah, exactly.

I think the biggest thing I know, I learned in that weekend is that Matt really missed out.

He should have been a carnival barker.

And it all makes sense now.

Like this.

The last seven years of this have all culminated in realizing, oh, no.

Yeah.

He is the ringmaster.

That's a nickname.

It took us seven years.

Oh, man.

He did it.

Yes, yes.

And we've recorded it, so we can't forget it.

That's not this time.

So, yeah, we did bang up job on decorating the theater.

Everybody came out and enjoyed it and then we all went home because that's what we did.

We just took a look at really cool carnival decorations and that was it.

And it was a really fun time.

No, we actually showed a bunch of movies too.

That we wouldn't be a film festival without the films.

And this year is no exception.

We did show some and they were all really, really fun.

We had filmmakers come.

We had surprises come.

I don't want.

I want no spoilers.

I was gonna say story to tell.

That made shorts like Sam Topa for the Stain and Bittersweet.

So Maya Yuka, the star of Sound of Love.

Now this is why our voices sound weird when we talk about this.

We had no idea.

Also, Sound of Love is a movie from Japan.

This is not like from New York City or even like somewhere in the US where like maybe they'd come to us A mid level city, just genre film festival.

No, completely from Japan.

And as I said before, with no notice, apparently bought a ticket, was sitting in the theater and then all of a sudden, bubbles of sound.

I'm working Merch and I start hearing the actresses here.

And we're all like, no.

And so I was like, no, no.

It looks like the actress from the movie.

And I know that some of us dead ass were like, absolutely not.

We would know.

It couldn't be just like a weird coincidence, right?

Guess what?

Guess what, listeners.

It was her.

The actress in the movie we're watching is standing there in the lobby.

We all start peeking around the corner just to be like, is this for real?

And she even took out the sunglasses.

She had the sunglasses from the movie.

She was ready.

She's standing next to the poster of the movie that she's on.

Oh my God.

So of course we, we scramble real hard to be real slick.

We want to be like, thank you, thank you.

I think we're trying to.

Because she has an interpreter with her.

And I think thank you because we're all desperately trying to communicate like what?

And thank you and why.

But also thank you, thank you.

A couple of us rushed over to merch and filled up a bag, I think with any piece of Anomaly stuff.

As you can tell if you can see this photo, people watching on Twitch, she wore Anomaly hat.

And, and, and here's what's amazing.

First she stuck around for at least a half hour talking to people.

Did not have to again, bought a ticket, felt real bad about that she's there.

And then her social media was just like, she had pictures of this bathroom cell, this gorgeous bathroom selfie with a hat.

She says, I'm Anomaly crew now.

Like, like, oh, we're like, oh my God, we're all, we're all blushing.

Like just what a surprise director too.

So it was like nice to see the love kind of spread around.

Yeah.

Oh my God.

Like just we're all here going like, anything can happen at Anopoly.

Sometimes we don't even know.

Months later, still shocked.

And I should say thank you very much to Kenya at reviewsmayvary on Instagram for spotting our friend here and letting us all know that we needed to go, oh my God, talk to Samaya Yuka, meet her.

And going, you came up to me and said the actress is here.

And I straight to her face said, of course not.

The exact conversation I had with Kenya when she came around the corner and came to merch.

Because that's where I was working she's like, the actors.

The actress is here.

And I went, what actress?

What are you talking?

The actress from the movie.

Like, the one that was just.

The Japanese movie that was just on.

Yes.

Now.

Yes.

And every single one of us just had, like, the biggest eyes just staring at each other like, can you believe this?

So we took a group photo, and we're, like, giggling and not able to talk.

Just like, starstruck.

Starstruck beyond starstruck.

And again, thank you to Kenya, because Kenya did also work the merch table while we all took the picture.

I don't know, kp.

I don't know if you knew that, but, yeah, Kenya was working merch for us.

She's like, go take a photo.

We could not.

We had our first kids feature or family feature in Anomaly this year with Flow.

So we got to see a bunch of happy faces from a bunch of families that stopped by to check it out.

Oh, hey, there are children here.

Yeah.

So many children.

They're having fun playing the carnival games.

Cannot decide what prize they'd like.

It was so cute.

That was kind of my favorite.

Coming back and training us three or four times for different stuff because they decided they didn't want whatever the Wacky Wall Walker or whatever it was that we were handing out.

So good.

Oh.

Glow in the Dark Cats.

The Little cat.

That's what it was.

Yeah, I just.

I just found one of those in my jeans.

That's the best kind of giveaway swag.

I don't even remember putting this in my pocket, but there it is.

It actually just won a Golden Globe for best Animated feature, which kind of cracked me up because I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but my mom texted me and said thank you for inviting us to the movie.

We felt really hip watching the Golden Globes and having seen one of the movies.

And I'm like, I think we gave out every single one of them because I couldn't find any anywhere.

But, you know.

I'm a little proud because I went through the screener scene by scene, trying to get the best.

The best look at the haunting license and the logo because they have a very specific logo for like their.

The Haunting bureau.

And I'm like, no, no.

The people at Anomaly deserve the closest to a screen accurate thing that of.

They've not seen yet, but they'll know later.

Insanely talented.

Unbelievable.

And the people loved it.

People love the mustaches.

It was a joy watching everyone walk around with those.

I was like, here's the thing.

I kind of want some fake mustaches.

So what I have to do is convince everyone at Anomaly that it's super important that we get this for the movie.

And it turns out I was.

I was right for the reason I said it was and not for my private own reason.

I can take you behind the scenes on the conversation of should we buy fake mustaches?

The resounding yes.

I don't know that Anomaly has ever come to a decision quicker than should you buy?

And then it was just, can we find mustaches that are inexpensive but also will not peel the top layer of skin off of your lip?

That was one of my favorite films of the year and I think people really kind of enjoyed that one.

Like we're like, listen, you're gonna watch it, you're gonna go on a journey and on the other side you're gonna think about it for like 10, 15 minutes and then all of a sudden you're going like holy crap, that was a really good movie.

I look forward to this summer when people are talking about that like they did red rooms this year.

How wild is it that now there's like red rooms everywhere?

I'm like, or you know what you could have done?

That's all I'm saying.

Tanya was red rooms in stop motion last year.

This year it's going to be flow and dead mail.

We got lucky for dead mail.

What other fun things happened?

I mean it's hard to reflect now two months later because it's.

Oh, oh you know what?

Because I'm going through the website.

Yeah, this is, this is super important.

People went a little ham in a good way.

Melin took such good care of us all weekend.

But this is, it was important.

We should probably also talk about shorts.

We had a trivia, I guess keep it on the potato train.

Petite poutine.

We had great trivia night.

It was hosted by rock game night.

And did they end up making a special?

So this is so cool.

So yeah.

The name of the game is it kills.

Yes.

My brain.

Okay.

So to, you know, do a cool themed poutine for that.

What they ended up coming up with was it was meatloaf murder.

So it was meatloaf on poutine.

But get this, because this is the cute part.

They had a little cookie cutter, like tiny little ginger man.

Ginger man.

Gingerbread man shaped.

And they cut out little meatloaf men, put it on top and then put.

Put a knife through it and squirted ketchup on it.

It was adorable to everyone who ordered it.

Yes.

And you have make sure you get there in the next two weeks to enjoy some delicious poutine.

Who knew that this was our last time there?

It's the least stressful place you can go and have a really nice glass of wine.

It was worth it when it wasn't.

That's had all sorts of amazing films on there.

Now we know that we've trained our lungs and realizes, hey, that thing goes up a lot slower than you think it does.

We had this like psychedelic 60s weird family in a desert film.

At the dry and trying to find stuff for us.

He's got a whole lot.

Hasn't been seen where it's.

What was really interesting is so Adam and I got to kind of pre screen this and one other film to see like what we wanted to pick.

I'll tell you how long some of these have been like in the vault.

This the other film we saw.

It was another martial arts film, but it was.

As we watched it, we realized it was missing about two reels and one reel repeated itself.

So we're finding stuff that people haven't gotten a chance to like, look at and like, probably in a bit.

So that's what we're giving you here at Anomaly.

Eventually I looked up what actually happened in that other film and it makes a lot more sense when it's not missing 22 minutes.

I'll tell you, I did watch it on YouTube after you said you're gonna go see it.

It's a fun little flick.

Yeah.

I mean, if it makes sense.

Yeah.

I mean that 22 minutes that was missing was like all the exposition.

So.

Yeah, it's like the second.

Second 11 minutes.

Which really sets Up.

Yeah.

The entire story.

I like that like but I would never have that conversation if we weren't looking for stuff for Dryden.

I got a peek behind the curtain about how many submissions did we have last year.

So that is just things that are submitted to us not things that we reach out for.

I was gonna say if you add in the things that we reached out for on top it was probably close to 150ish.

When I looked at it in film Freeway the total amount of time was somewhere around 49 hours of incredible content to go through to bring you the festival.

I only have one day of worry.

It's like two weeks.

I couldn't remember the scheduling, but you.

Only once I get on stage, I don't care.

It's the anxiety up.

And then once I'm up, I'm like, oh, yeah.

So I did five minutes of surprise.

So at this point, you know, I'll do quite a lot on stage.

You know what?

You know, it's long five minutes when you're sitting up on stage stage.

I was like, oh, you know what?

This sounded like a fun idea.

This was such a cute idea.

When we were planning stuff, I was like, I'll just do, like, five.

Like, at first, I was like, I'll do it the entire half hour before the film.

I'm glad.

Don't.

Don't sell yourself short.

Initially, it was, I'll just do 30 minutes up there.

And we all went.

And then you shrunk it down to about 10.

And then you ended up somewhere between, like, 5 to 7, which you did it, and people were enjoying it.

So, you know, supportive.

So thank you.

Yes.

I'm glad it's recorded because I don't.

Like, once I got up there in front of the microphone and looked out and said, I'm not going to remember this.

So the rest is just me just like, you know what, just worry about it later.

Future Megan will have to clean this up.

Maybe another thing you'll get Anomaly project.

We had everything so hidden on our site that you wouldn't be able to buy a pass.

And yet we're like, did someone buy a pass?

When there's a will, there's a way.

We sold one pass in.

At whatever screening we had and then nothing.

And then all of a sudden just blip.

One pass.

We did not have an official page set up to buy them yet.

We were still figuring some things out.

And yet strange things happen all the time at Anomaly.
