Christ IN us, Our Hope of Glory!
By Tammy Lacock
A Christian is one who is joined to Christ in one spirit.
Paul maintains this truth throughout his epistles—that the instant we believe, in the moment we are saved, Christ is birthed in us and becomes our life (Gal. 2:20, KJV). In fact, he repeatedly stated that Christ In us, as our new life, is our only hope of glory, and that hope is necessary as we grow into the knowledge of Christ in us by the Holy Spirit.
Most of us are still trying to work out God’s plan in our lives. Most of us have never had a clear calling from God because we are still working on us and the details of our old lives rather than fixing our minds on our new life in Christ. It is not our old lives being made new; it is Christ as our new life working in us, until we no longer claim that old life. Christ permeates our old lives and dwells in us and through us as doctors, plumbers, teachers, mothers, fathers, etc., not to make us better people and not to give us peace and hope, but to BE our peace, our hope.
In Ephesians 2:14, Paul speaks of this plainly when he says, “For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” With Christ in us, as our new life, there are no longer any barriers between Him and us, no separation. Out with the old law of Moses that we must do something within ourselves to please God; and in with God’s new law of love and grace, Christ IN us as our new life, blameless before God. As Christians, we surrender our old lives to Him knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us and will work out His will in us.
Christ as our life is our only hope of glory!! Let us rejoice in Him!
