Shownotes

He loves the rocking of the bus, scrambled eggs because it’s more labor intensive and wants you to read “TV Inside-Out: Flukes, Flakes, Feuds and Felonies” Randy West from the “Wheel of Fortune-Live” national tour and much more takes a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.

Welcome Randy:

We’re joined on the Starline by a man whose name you might not know. Ah but his voice, you’d know that voice. He’s a radio and TV personality, author, announcer and the 1st champion to be retired from "Press Your Luck". His book “TV Inside-Out: Flukes, Flakes, Feuds and Felonies” is out. Normally we would welcome, but it’s better to steal his line and ask Randy West to “Come on Down!”

Randy let’s go Beyond the Mic. Your book is one with all the dirty secrets that many would rather remain in the shadows. Why was this the right time to write this?

I could ask about the boozers, abusers or totally inappropriate personalities you’ve experienced in your career, but I really want to know how a kid who DJ’ed “Wonderful Radio Northern Westchester” found his way from the Quicksand Cat Litter infomercial to the Price is Right?

Randy, you’re on the road hosting Price is Right Live and now Wheel of Fortune live countless weeks a year. Do you remember what sleeping in your bed at home feels like?

The Rockin' 8:

It’s time for our game show called the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions; answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Favorite theater production?

2. Biggest risk you’ve ever taken?

3. How many times did you whammy during your "Press Your Luck" streak?

4. Which game show of the past would you love to see today?

5. How do you like your eggs cooked?

6. On a bus, plane or train, where do you like to be seated, window, middle or aisle?

7. If you could have visited one moment in radio or TV history just to see it in person, what would it be?

8. Favorite of all the Doctor Who doctors?

One Big Question:

Randy, you have such a passion for the voices of games shows and broadcasting. Why was following the past so important to your past, present and future?

You’ve been mentored by some of the legends in the business, Johnny Olson, Wink Martindale. Who is the person you have taken under your wing to keep the good moving forward?

Where can people find you online?

The Wrap:

He loves the rockin of the bus, scrambled eggs because it’s more labor intensive and wants you to read “TV Inside-Out: Flukes, Flakes, Feuds and Felonies” Randy West, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today!

And that my friends is a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
