Speaker A:

Welcome to Grilling at the Green After Hours.

Speaker A:

The conversation that took place after the show ended.

Speaker A:

Hey, welcome back to After Hours here on Grilling at the Green Today, our victim.

Speaker A:

I mean, our guest is Carrie o' Rourke from Core Golf Fitness.

Speaker A:

Carrie swears she knows nothing about After Hours.

Speaker A:

And so it'll be.

Speaker B:

I'm like, I guess I should have watched this before I got in here.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

They go from very simple to kind of head scratchers.

Speaker A:

How's that?

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

That's a good way to put it.

Speaker A:

So we'll start with something very simple.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And we kind of start with everybody with this one.

Speaker A:

To put them at ease.

Speaker A:

What's your favorite color?

Speaker A:

Lifesaver Red.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker A:

What's the one song you want to hear on the radio when you start your car in the morning?

Speaker B:

Young Blood.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

What's the first thing you reach for when you're done with a round of golf?

Speaker B:

Water.

Speaker A:

Water.

Speaker A:

That's pretty healthy.

Speaker A:

You're a bit in the minority on that one, though.

Speaker A:

Okay, I. I will tell you that.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna tell you that usually there are other answers to that.

Speaker B:

What?

Speaker A:

I'm not sure I should ask you this one.

Speaker A:

What's the one thing you miss about your twenties?

Speaker B:

Not caring.

Speaker A:

Not caring.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Freedom.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Less responsibilities once you get the married mom thing down.

Speaker A:

Boy.

Speaker A:

It's that stuff kind of goes away.

Speaker A:

Just.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Right out the door.

Speaker A:

What's the worst movie you ever watched?

Speaker B:

Any horror movie?

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker A:

Our daughter loves that stuff, but I hate them.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

If you could dine with a historical figure, anybody they can be still upright today or in the ground.

Speaker A:

Who would it be and what would be on the menu?

Speaker B:

Oh, King Henry viii.

Speaker B:

Hopefully my head on a platter is not on the menu.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I was gonna say.

Speaker A:

You're not looking for a wife job.

Speaker A:

Are you there?

Speaker A:

Geez.

Speaker B:

I hit like, I had the first answer until you gave me the second part.

Speaker B:

I'm like, well, that doesn't really go.

Speaker B:

I suppose it's gonna be red wine flowing and probably lots of meat.

Speaker B:

I don't know what they ate.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

You're not.

Speaker A:

Are you a vegan or anything?

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

Okay, good.

Speaker B:

I'm just thinking, what did they eat back then?

Speaker A:

A lot of.

Speaker A:

A lot of fruit.

Speaker A:

Well, they ate a lot of fruit, but, you know, England.

Speaker A:

England was not really known for exorbitant fruit.

Speaker B:

They're good food.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

A lot of boiled sheep.

Speaker B:

I had a terrible answer to that question.

Speaker A:

If you could play a round of golf with one of your golfing heroes, who would it be?

Speaker B:

Freddy couples.

Speaker A:

Freddy Couple.

Speaker A:

Mr. Silky Swing.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

See how he does it.

Speaker A:

See how he does it.

Speaker A:

Who was the biggest influence in your life on you, personally?

Speaker B:

Is it really to golf or just in general?

Speaker A:

Whatever you want.

Speaker B:

I mean, I'm going to actually say this is the opposite of my intuition of my son being my oldest son being the biggest influence on my life.

Speaker B:

I mean, my first intuition is to say my dad.

Speaker B:

But where my life stands now, having kids in their 20s, they've definitely had a bigger influence on my life.

Speaker A:

Sure.

Speaker A:

If Carrie o' Rourke was declared supreme leader of golf for one day, just one day, what would Kerry o' Rourke decree as supreme leader?

Speaker B:

That everybody could play nine holes in an hour and a half.

Speaker A:

Okay, that's fair.

Speaker A:

That's fair.

Speaker A:

Name something that you were really enthused about when it.

Speaker A:

When you first saw it or heard about it.

Speaker A:

And then with time, your excitement kind of fizzled out.

Speaker A:

Oo.

Speaker B:

That's a good one.

Speaker B:

I would say getting a expensive car used to be a little more important to me, and now it's not.

Speaker A:

Yeah, my wife drives the really nice cars.

Speaker A:

My cars are like 10 years old, you know, they're in great shape.

Speaker B:

Yeah, maybe a happy medium, but.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Well, maybe that's because I work from home now.

Speaker B:

And recently my drivewise insurance app said, did your drivewise disconnect because you haven't driven in four days?

Speaker B:

I was like, no, woman.

Speaker B:

I really haven't left my house in four days.

Speaker B:

Women wasn't the word I used, though.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I got it, I got it, I got it.

Speaker A:

Do you remember the first time you ever picked up a golf club?

Speaker B:

I have vague memories.

Speaker B:

I can't tell you the exact moment, but I was in golf camp, I would say seventh grade back in the day, where my mom could drop my brother and I off at the golf course all day and no one would think twice about it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And she was really determined to make my brother and I country club kids because that wasn't, you know, where her.

Speaker B:

Where her life was, you know, as a kid.

Speaker B:

So she wanted it for us.

Speaker B:

And now my kids grew up in the country club, but, you know, she made sure that we learned tennis and golf and all those things.

Speaker B:

So I would say vaguely remember, but I know that was the first exposure to golf.

Speaker A:

Okay, if you could.

Speaker A:

If you could erase one mistake from your past, what would it be?

Speaker B:

Only one?

Speaker A:

Yeah, you get one.

Speaker A:

You get one.

Speaker B:

Oh, goodness.

Speaker B:

I mean, my.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

My mistakes.

Speaker B:

I've Made in relationships, dating mistakes.

Speaker B:

Yeah, well, I'm not gonna say my marriage.

Speaker B:

I'm divorced.

Speaker B:

I'm not going to say that because good things come out of marriages regardless, so that's not a mistake.

Speaker B:

But, you know, all the dumb mistakes I made there along the way after that.

Speaker A:

I'm with you.

Speaker A:

I'm with you.

Speaker A:

You talk about a horror story.

Speaker A:

My mind not ready for prime time.

Speaker A:

What.

Speaker A:

What would be your choice for your last meal on death row?

Speaker B:

Funny enough, I just had this conversation with my girlfriends.

Speaker B:

I don't know why we were talking about it.

Speaker B:

It's just going dessert.

Speaker B:

Like chocolate lava cake and cheesecake.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Why?

Speaker A:

You're not gonna gain weight.

Speaker B:

Yeah, no.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Let's eat what I like.

Speaker B:

I got a sugar.

Speaker B:

Get my sugar fixed.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker A:

What's your favorite thing to eat, by the way?

Speaker B:

Lava cake and cheesecake.

Speaker B:

I don't open up.

Speaker B:

I don't open up a bag of cookies or I'll just eat the whole thing, so.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I got that.

Speaker A:

I got that.

Speaker A:

If we put Carrie's skills to music, what would the music be?

Speaker B:

Just skills in general.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Oh, okay.

Speaker B:

I'm feeling like it's like a symphony.

Speaker B:

A fast one that's loud and dynamic.

Speaker A:

Tchaikovsky or.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker B:

Well, Shaykowski is like Swan Lake.

Speaker B:

Yeah, Swan Lake.

Speaker B:

We'll go with that.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

If you were an animal, what animal would you.

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

Six things just went through my head.

Speaker B:

Oh, if I were an animal, what animal would be a horse?

Speaker A:

Okay, okay.

Speaker A:

Well, you're talking to an old horse guy here.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker A:

Do you think this is not quite in the.

Speaker A:

In the physio world, but you're an engineer.

Speaker A:

So do you think golf can help kids that have trouble with math and.

Speaker A:

Or social skills?

Speaker B:

Math for sure.

Speaker B:

Because you have to learn how to look at the yards and whatnot.

Speaker B:

Get depth perception, which is related to math, social skills.

Speaker B:

See, that one I'm not sure about because it is an individual sport.

Speaker A:

Sure.

Speaker B:

Unless they are in, you know, a camp or a PGA Junior league type event.

Speaker B:

But I'm thinking like a six year old.

Speaker B:

I'm not sure that social.

Speaker B:

Social skills would be top of the list of things you get from that young, but listening skills for sure.

Speaker B:

And learning.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But it's not the most social sport at that age as they're.

Speaker B:

You're.

Speaker B:

Because you're working independently to.

Speaker B:

To learn the sport.

Speaker B:

But I can say that some of our friends that we made through golf that live in different areas of Michigan and the state are still family and lifelong friends, so.

Speaker B:

Okay, my answer is 50.

Speaker B:

50 On that one, But I feel like other sports would be more social.

Speaker A:

No, I think that's a good answer.

Speaker A:

In your opinion, name an unsung hero in the golf world.

Speaker B:

Unsung hero in the golf world.

Speaker B:

I feel like it has to be a caddy, but I don't have a specific one.

Speaker A:

Okay, well, that's fair.

Speaker A:

That's very fair.

Speaker A:

What's one thing you wish spectators at tournaments would not do?

Speaker B:

Would not do?

Speaker B:

Not be bored.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, all right.

Speaker A:

What do you want to do when you retire, if you retire?

Speaker B:

Well, I do.

Speaker B:

I will retire.

Speaker B:

I want to do the things that everyone else wants to do.

Speaker B:

I want to travel.

Speaker B:

I want to spend time with, hopefully, grandkids someday, play some golf, and just enjoy life.

Speaker A:

That's a.

Speaker A:

That's a good.

Speaker A:

Good aspiration there, Carrie.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Not rushing the grandchildren, but.

Speaker A:

Yeah, no, no, I get that.

Speaker A:

I get that.

Speaker A:

I still have hope for that.

Speaker B:

There you go.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Sweatshirts or formal wear?

Speaker B:

Sweatshirts.

Speaker B:

As long as they're not a hoodie.

Speaker B:

No hoods.

Speaker A:

No hoods.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Last couple more here.

Speaker A:

What's the biggest change you think should be made, if any, in professional golf?

Speaker B:

I don't like that this is where my mind went, but I think it's.

Speaker B:

It's a conversation about sports in general as far as transgender sports and where they fit in.

Speaker B:

Okay, so I believe.

Speaker B:

I believe the LPGA has made a ruling on that already, but I don't know if it's been updated.

Speaker A:

I don't know if it's been updated, but they did make a ruling on it within the last year.

Speaker B:

Like, year or so.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, like that.

Speaker A:

Okay, last question.

Speaker A:

Carry over core golf fitness, and you get to tell everybody again in a minute how to get a hold of you.

Speaker A:

If I gave you a box with everything you've lost in your life, what would be the first thing you would reach for?

Speaker B:

Geez, Louise.

Speaker A:

Told your head scratcher.

Speaker B:

We're talking physical objects, right?

Speaker A:

Physical, emotional.

Speaker B:

Oh, we're talking.

Speaker A:

It can be anything you want, Carrie.

Speaker A:

Anything you want.

Speaker A:

We're kind of a freewheeling show, as you've seen.

Speaker B:

Now I feel like it's like TikTok come up with an answer.

Speaker B:

Something I've lost.

Speaker B:

I mean, the.

Speaker B:

Something.

Speaker B:

The things that come to mind are so superficial that I even feel bad saying them out loud.

Speaker A:

Well, let me.

Speaker A:

Let me.

Speaker A:

Let me.

Speaker A:

Let me shed some light on.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Shed some light on it.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

We've had people answer physical things Like a watch that they lost.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Something like that.

Speaker A:

We've had other people answer about, like, a friend that they lost track of or are no longer friends anymore.

Speaker A:

We've had people talk about I.

Speaker A:

And, like, for me, somebody asked me this question one day.

Speaker A:

That's how I came up with it.

Speaker A:

And I said, my dad.

Speaker A:

My dad's been gone for a long time.

Speaker B:

Right, right.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But I think about him every day because we were pretty tight, and so there's a wide range there from the metaphysical to the physical.

Speaker B:

Well, I would say, yeah, as you went through that, it first came to mind was a piece of jewelry that I literally physically lost.

Speaker B:

And then I also lost a bracelet my grandma gave me that my grandpa had given her when he went to war back in the day.

Speaker B:

And it was like his ID bracelet.

Speaker B:

And she scratched.

Speaker B:

He scratched her name in the inside of it with, like, a screwdriver or something.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And then, yeah, there's definitely, like, friendships that I've lost along the way that I would like to get back to.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I think that's very, very legit.

Speaker A:

Carrie, again, share with people how they can find you.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker B:

Core Golf Fitness spelled C O r G O L F F I T N e S S that.

Speaker B:

Com or social media, Instagram and Facebook at Core Golf Fitness.

Speaker A:

Very good.

Speaker A:

Kara o', Rourke, you've been a delight.

Speaker A:

I'm glad we finally got to chat.

Speaker B:

For sure.

Speaker A:

It's been good.

Speaker A:

That's going to wrap it for after hours.

Speaker A:

Don't forget, you can hear us on all the platforms and everywhere you can find us.

Speaker A:

It's not that hard.

Speaker A:

And I want to thank Carrie for being with us today.

Speaker A:

I hope you all have a great weekend and remember our motto here.

Speaker A:

Go out, play some golf, have some fun, but most of all, be kind if you can.

Speaker A:

Take care, everybody.
