Summary

This conversation explores the shift from a primarily “soulish” Christian experience — driven by feelings, fear, and physical evidence — into a mature, Spirit-led life. The speakers celebrate a growing readiness to hear, see, and move in the Spirit, urge believers to pursue wholeness (body, soul, and spirit), and call for spiritual preparation and warfare through the Word (symbolized by “selling the cloak and buying the sword”). The overall tone is hopeful and expectant: deliverance and fuller spiritual living are already purchased and available; now is the time to receive and stand in what Christ accomplished.

Show Notes

  • Introduction: framing the “Day of Spirit” and the transition from a soulish age to a Spirit age.
  • Readiness to receive: Jesus’ promise of “many more things” and the sense that the body of Christ is becoming ready to receive deeper revelation. (John 16:12)
  • Practical wholeness: the need for body and soul to support the spirit—seeking physical, mental, and emotional health as part of spiritual growth.
  • Spiritual conflict and preparation: “Sell your cloak and buy a sword” as a call to exchange old defenses for the Word of God and spiritual maturity. (Luke 22:36; Hebrews 4:12)
  • Deliverance and preservation: contending for preservation of body, soul, and spirit and living in the freedom purchased by Christ’s blood. (1 Thess. 5:23; 1 Peter 1:18–19)
  • Anecdote/metaphor: “Two little fishes” parable illustrating how those anchored in the Spirit perceive the world differently.
  • Final exhortation: stand, move forward, expect deliverance now — the finished work is enough and available.

Scriptural References

John 4:23–24  worshiping in spirit and truth (theme: Day of Spirit / worship in spirit). John 16:12 “I have many more things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now” (readiness for greater revelation). Luke 22:36  “Sell your cloak and buy a sword” (contextualized as spiritual preparation). Hebrews 4:12  the Word as a living, two-edged sword. 1 Thessalonians 5:23  pray for whole preservation: spirit, soul, and body. Romans 8  life in the Spirit vs. life in the flesh. 1 Peter 1:18–19  the blood of Christ and redemption/deliverance. Takeaway This conversation is an invitation to advance: not to abandon doctrine or deny the realities of the world, but to change how we live in relation to them. The speakers call the church to move past a limited, soulish Christianity — one overly influenced by fear, appearances, or bodily evidence — and to grow into a Spirit-led posture that is both practical and supernatural. The key idea is integration: spirit, soul, and body working together so that our physical and emotional lives support our spiritual calling. Preparation and warfare are reframed as spiritual maturity rather than aggression. “Sell your cloak and buy a sword” isn’t a literal call to arms but a call to discernment and spiritual discipline: to speak truth, stand in what Christ has done, and walk in the authority the Spirit provides. Finally, the group’s tone is expectant and resolute: deliverance and fullness were purchased by Christ and can be appropriated now. The practical next steps the conversation suggests are simple but profound: seek wholeness (health of body, mind, and soul), practice steadiness (stand and stay in the finished work), and cultivate the capacity to hear and move in the Spirit. As they say: why not now? The invitation is to believe, step forward, and live in the reality already made available by the cross and the Spirit.

Ken:

This is a Day of Spirit, and Mike, you’ve been prominent in talking about the seventh day and the Day of Spirit. We were reading today about the age of Spirit. It’s amazing what we’ve already been through and how we’ve been moving out of an age of doing things on a soulish level and coming into a new level of Spirit.

There are many who are still struggling, I believe, to get out of that soulish realm and into the Spirit realm. I’m just thankful, Lord, that You’ve shown us this is a day of Spirit. I know it’s a day when God is doing things by His Spirit, and I believe that is what we’re going to experience as we walk into this new day.

The Day of Spirit is expanding; it’s growing, and we are seeing new levels and new things opening up to us even now. We’re not going to stop where we are at this level. We’re walking on in the Spirit to do and become more and more capable of doing things in the spirit, ministering in the spirit, and receiving things from God in the spirit.

I still recall the Scriptures where Jesus said, “I have many more things to show you or tell you, but you’re not ready yet.” I think we’ve come to a place of readiness where we are able to hear, see, and move in the spirit realm. I am believing that God is delivering us out of an old level of relating into a new level of relating that will release us into this new day in a greater way.

We can’t be satisfied to just remain at the level we are; we should rejoice that we’re being delivered by the Lord into a new level. All we have to do really…

Bill:

…we soar in the spirit and we’re feeble in the flesh and fearful in the soul at some point. I believe our soul and our physical being have to be a help and a support to our spirit and vice versa—not enemies, almost.

So when we talk about a new day, I’m not saying, “Oh, let’s do better in the spirit.” I don’t like the idea of someone who should be soaring in the spirit, so to speak, having to go to the hospital. Original Passover— I think it was like the first four plagues—impacted the Egyptians and the Israelites. After that, imagine the witness: I don’t remember precisely, but the Egyptians’ houses were full of frogs and the children of Israel’s houses were not.

Where we are today, I think people look and say, “Hey, you Christians are just as sick as the rest of us. Christians are just as fearful as the rest of us,” or whatever it is. They perceive that we are voicing things of the spirit—we do—but they can’t see the spirit; they can see what’s happening in the flesh. So I’m saying, Lord, make us whole. Open the door for us to be whole—so that my physical body, my brain, and my soul are an absolute, total support of what You are showing us, teaching us, and having us do in the realm of spirit.

Dale:

The Lord is trying to teach us that we are coexisting with a great deal of hostility from an old order that is set to combat and put down God’s order and God’s kingdom. However, God has set barriers that prevent Satan from destroying every one of God’s citizens in the kingdom, every one of His children, from the face of the earth.

Here’s the key: be prepared. Sell your cloak and buy a sword—get ready for a kind of conflict. Our warfare is not carnal; it is not with a literal sword, but you will sell the cloak of self-esteem, the cloak of withdrawal, the cloak of hypocrisy, the cloak of the veneer that the world is used to. Come out of your openness with a sword: the word of the living God, the sharp two-edged sword. We’re prevailing in the spirit realm by drawing this sword.

There’s a duplicity in our nature that we’re being delivered from. By selling—get rid of it. Do whatever you have to do to buy a sword. That’s where we’re launching out in the realm of spirit.

Ken:

to come into the level where [:

Lois:

There were two little fishes down in the ocean and they were talking. One said, “What is this? I keep hearing about freeways and crashes and cars. I don’t see any freeway.” The other said, “Just take them and flop them up on the freeway—let them flop around on the freeway a little bit—and they’ll see what this other realm is.”

Trisha:

I don’t have enough of a revelation of what You have done—what You and the Father planned and what You did on the cross. I don’t have enough revelation; I need a deeper revelation, deeper and deeper. It’s unbelief in the will; you can’t understand it with your puny finite mind. You can’t.

The Son has already done it all. Of course, my mind goes to, “I have to do something; God has to do something more.” There must be more because I’m a mess—my soul is in process and my body has a long way to go. I don’t have the fullness of shalom, the fullness of completeness and wholeness. I’m thinking, “I don’t think I’m walking in that,” and I’m thinking, “You know what? We have to stand and stay in the position of what He has already done.” He isn’t going to get off the throne and do any more. No matter how much I wish He would, He’s not.

So I say, Lord, we stand and stay in the place of what You have already done on the cross.

Ken:

I think you spoke what everybody is realizing today: we’re all standing right there as God’s sons, and we’re not going to stand still. We’re going to keep moving in, keep believing, and keep expecting to see these things completely take place—a day of deliverance. Why not now? Why not reach in right now? This is what we’re contending for and believing for: this day of deliverance has been purchased by the blood of Christ for us.
