“Spend some time with God and ask Him what is the spiritual gift He has given you that he wants you to use to further His kingdom“ - Wesleyne
Romans 12:6 to 9:
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.
In Romans 12:6 to 9, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the diversity of gifts within the Christian community. He acknowledges that each person has been endowed with unique gifts by the grace of God, and these gifts are meant to be used in service to others. Paul's list is not exhaustive but illustrative, highlighting a range of gifts from prophesying to teaching, from leading to showing mercy. The underlying message is that every believer has a role to play in the body of Christ, and each role, no matter how seemingly small or grand, is significant and should be executed with sincerity and dedication.
Today, you will learn the importance of recognizing and valuing the diverse gifts within a community. Paul encourages believers to act in accordance with their gifts and to do so with authenticity and enthusiasm. For instance, if one's gift is to encourage, they should do so wholeheartedly. If it's to lead, they should do it with diligence. That teaches you that it's not just about having a gift, but about how you use it. The concluding verse underscores the foundational principle guiding the use of these gifts: "Love must be sincere."
This love should drive believers to despise evil and embrace good. In essence, the passage calls for a harmonious blend of individuality (expressed through diverse gifts) and unity (anchored in sincere love), reminding you that your unique contributions, when rooted in genuine love, build up the community and further the kingdom of God.
