Hey Transformational Teacher and welcome to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.
Speaker A:I am your host detoya and thank you so much for being here.
Speaker A:On this podcast we are going to talk about faith, mindset, self care and how this plays a role in your teaching journey.
Speaker A:Now on last week's podcast, I spoke briefly on ways that we can rest, reset and recharge.
Speaker A:So if you haven't done so already, I encourage you create a plan so so you can rest, reset and recharge and make the most out of your summer.
Speaker A:Now.
Speaker A:You don't have to create this plan alone.
Speaker A:God, he is willing and he desires to help you create the plan so you can make the most out of the summertime that you have left.
Speaker A:Also, join me for our monthly prayer and encouragement chat.
Speaker A:I would love to connect with you and talk to you about your plan.
Speaker A:Also, feel free to send me a message on Instagram.
Speaker A:I will link all of that in the show notes and because sometimes as teachers, those things that took place in the school year, we're still carrying them sometimes into the summertime and sometimes we feel heavy, we feel restless, we may feel exhausted because we're still carrying those things.
Speaker A:There's so many emotions going on on the inside of us.
Speaker A:Sometimes we're asking ourselves, did I do my best?
Speaker A:Could I have done more to help my students?
Speaker A:But one thing that I am learning is is we cannot go backwards.
Speaker A:The school year is over, but we can choose to give those cares, give those concerns to God.
Speaker A:We can ask him to continue to have his way in the lives of our students.
Speaker A:Just because they're no longer in our classroom, it doesn't mean the prayers have to stop.
Speaker A:If you're still concerned, pray.
Speaker A:Ask God to help them.
Speaker A:Do not carry the burdens, but give them over to God.
Speaker A:We can pray for continued growth for our students and that they gain what they need as they journey throughout the summer.
Speaker A:And again.
Speaker A:As for ourselves, instead of continuing to carry the weight and cares from the past school year, choose to rest.
Speaker A:Rest physically, but also rest in God.
Speaker A:Rest in his presence this summer and allow him to heal those areas that need healing.
Speaker A:Allow him to strengthen you.
Speaker A:Take time to fill your spiritual tank up.
Speaker A:Work on those areas that God shows you that you need to work on and again, enjoy your summer.
Speaker A:So when it's time to go back into the school building, you are ready because you have taken time to rest, reset and recharge.
Speaker A:Say it with me.
Speaker A:I will rest in God.
Speaker A:I will reset and I will recharge.
Speaker A:So I am ready for for this upcoming School year.
Speaker A:I'm going to briefly talk about these three words, rest, reset and recharge, which is the focal point for our monthly prayer call for this month.
Speaker A:Again, be sure to join us.
Speaker A:Rest is freedom from activity or labor.
Speaker A:And this I looked this up on the Internet and from Webster's dictionary.
Speaker A:It says to cease from action or motion, to be free from anxiety or or disturbance, to quiet down.
Speaker A:So we want to rest physically, but we also want to rest in Jesus.
Speaker A:And we rest in Jesus.
Speaker A:We can receive his peace.
Speaker A:We want to surrender to God and do things his way.
Speaker A:Rest in God's presence by resting in his word, taking time to worship, pray to him daily.
Speaker A:And in praying, we're communicating with God.
Speaker A:And as you're communicating with God, it's not just a one way, it's you speaking, God speaking you, jotting things down.
Speaker A:God desires to talk to you and in him speaking to you, he can show you ways to rest.
Speaker A:Listen to faith based teachings.
Speaker A:These are just to name a few different things that you can do as you rest.
Speaker A:Receive God's peace, receive his strength, his guidance as you go throughout the summer when rest, reset and recharge.
Speaker A: verses: Speaker A:I'm going to read it from the amplified classic version.
Speaker A:It says, come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and overburdened and I will cause you to rest.
Speaker A:I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.
Speaker A:Take my yoke upon you and learn of me.
Speaker A:For I am gentle, meek and humble, lowly in heart.
Speaker A:And you will find rest, relief and ease, and refreshment and recreation in blessed quiet for your souls.
Speaker A:For my yoke is wholesome, useful, good, not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant.
Speaker A:And My burden is light and easy to be borne.
Speaker A:So again, give those cares, give those worries to God.
Speaker A:Give all of the worries and cares from this past school year to Him.
Speaker A:Give those personal cares over to God because He desires to take them.
Speaker A:He desires to give you peace.
Speaker A:He desires to give you rest.
Speaker A:So go forth and lay it at his feet.
Speaker A:Take time out, journal your thoughts, speak it out to him.
Speaker A:And as you're speaking, remember, listen because he desires to talk to you.
Speaker A:Now we're going to move to the word reset and reset.
Speaker A:A few things that I've seen about that that stood out to me was to set again or anew, adjust or fix in a new or different way.
Speaker A:Here I encourage you to take out some time and ask yourself, and even ask God to Show you the areas that you need to readjust to get in alignment with him physically, spiritually, mentally.
Speaker A:And again, since we are teachers and take time out to see what areas do you need to adjust in that will help you become better at what you do.
Speaker A:Because as teachers it's key to remain teachable.
Speaker A:I encourage you to somewhat do a self assessment.
Speaker A:How do you think things are going in your life?
Speaker A:How are your routines, your habits, your time with God?
Speaker A:How is your physical activity going and things to that nature?
Speaker A:Ask God, are there any books I need to dig in to this summer to, to help me?
Speaker A:Are there any professional, professional development that I need to take throughout this summer?
Speaker A:Ask God to reveal to you anything in your life that needs to change.
Speaker A:Ask him to root out everything that is not of him and to show you the part that you need to play in order to be in alignment with him for this season.
Speaker A:Remember, faith without works is dead.
Speaker A:Here again you are asking God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, reveal these things to me, this so I can get things in alignment with you.
Speaker A:Again, journal these things out.
Speaker A:Now we're going to move to our last word which is recharge.
Speaker A:Recharge is to restore, bring back to a former condition, to become charged again to refill.
Speaker A:And just like we have to charge our laptops, our phones, most of them need recharging daily for us to use them.
Speaker A:And I believe our spirit, our mind and our physical body needs to be recharged daily.
Speaker A:Cuz just if you don't recharge the laptop, it's going to eventually go dead on you.
Speaker A:But if we continue to plug up to God, we continue to feast on His Word.
Speaker A:If we continue to read, continue to do those things that our mind, our body and our spirit needs, we will be recharged.
Speaker A:So this is where you will move forward.
Speaker A:You, you now have the areas that you need to reset in.
Speaker A:Now it's time to ask God how can we do this?
Speaker A:And in doing this I believe you will become recharged.
Speaker A:Now again, these are three steps I'm encouraging you to take cuz I'm encouraging you to rest, reset and recharge.
Speaker A:So again this podcast is always here for you to go back and listen to the part that you are working on.
Speaker A:Now again we're talking about recharge.
Speaker A:So, so I'm going to read Psalms 32, verse 8, the amplified version.
Speaker A:It says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.
Speaker A:I will counsel you who are willing to learn with my eye upon you.
Speaker A:So again he desires to instruct us.
Speaker A:He desires to teach us.
Speaker A:And even as it says in Proverbs 3, 5, 6, that we trust in the Lord with all of our hearts.
Speaker A:We lean not to our own understanding, but all of our ways.
Speaker A:We acknowledge Him.
Speaker A:As we acknowledge him, he will guide and direct us along the right pathway.
Speaker A:So we're asking God to show us how we can recharge.
Speaker A:So the areas he's shown us where we need to reset in now we are taking that a step further and we are seeing how we are going to do this so we can recharge.
Speaker A:Now I'm going to share a few ways that I am doing this.
Speaker A:So a few things that I have on my plan.
Speaker A:Some of these things I'm doing, some I'm writing in to do.
Speaker A:One of the things that I've been consistent in, and I think I spoke on it in the last episode, is working out.
Speaker A:And if you know me working out, that is an area of improvement that I needed to improve in.
Speaker A:But I would say the last three or so weeks I have been consistent in at least working out five times throughout the week, throughout, you know, from Sunday through Saturday.
Speaker A:And I typically was doing 30 minutes each time I would go.
Speaker A:This week I upped it to 45 minutes cuz I felt God say 30 take it to another level.
Speaker A:So again, working out is one way that I'm recharging my body.
Speaker A:Studying the fruit of the Spirit and digging into Ephesians is another way that I am recharging because I believe as teachers.
Speaker A:For me personally, one area that I need to work on is my fruit.
Speaker A:Especially this past year it was the patience and that self control and just, you know, showing that love.
Speaker A:So those are just a few things that God is leading me to do.
Speaker A:A few books that I'm reading that's helping me mentally and spiritually.
Speaker A:And the thing about this is when I'm working out, sometimes I'm reading at the same time.
Speaker A:So one of the books is 5 Things Successful People Do Before 8am 20 Ways to Make Every Day Better.
Speaker A:And I'll link those also in the show notes.
Speaker A:And I'm listening to a podcast by my pastor, Building Lives podcast.
Speaker A:Some of the ones that I've really been feasting on is the ones about prayer focus in doing more.
Speaker A:And again, I encourage you to also use some of your summer to learn something new, put something new in your teaching toolkit.
Speaker A:Now again, I'm going to share just a few things that I'm writing in my plan for this upcoming school year One of my focal areas that I'm feeling led to read about is more about the brain.
Speaker A:And the good thing is I already had some of these books so I didn't even have to leave the house to go and look for these books.
Speaker A:And again, I'll link those in the show notes also.
Speaker A:And again, look into some professional development if you feel you need to take some.
Speaker A:And again, there's a lot of them online.
Speaker A:Two that I'm thinking of doing is one is a preschool Autism Summit and I'm also thinking about joining this Educate and Rejuvenate virtual conference, just to name a few.
Speaker A:So again, ask God God what do I need to do because he is the best person to partner with.
Speaker A:So again, I encourage you to rest, reset and recharge so you will be ready to go inside of that school year when school starts.
Speaker A:And also as we're resting, resetting, recharging, we're able to enjoy life better.
Speaker A:And we're going to go ahead and wrap this up.
Speaker A:We're going to wrap up in prayer.
Speaker A:Again, thank you so much for taking out the time to listen to this.
Speaker A:Well, let's pray.
Speaker A:Well Heavenly Father, we thank you right now.
Speaker A:We thank you Lord just for who you are.
Speaker A:We thank you for every teacher, Lord God that is listening to this.
Speaker A:I pray for those teachers, Lord God that aren't listening to it Lord, but I pray Lord God that they truly give every care, every worry, Lord God over to you and that they allow you to refresh them.
Speaker A:I pray Lord God that they pour their heart out to you and as they pour their heart out to you, I pray they have an ear to hear your still small voice and what you are saying to them.
Speaker A:I pray that they receive your love that you have for them.
Speaker A:I pray Lord God that they will allow you to strengthen them, that they will team up with you and they will do your will.
Speaker A:They will get in alignment, Lord God with you.
Speaker A:And I just pray Lord God for continue health, healing and wholeness for every teacher.
Speaker A:I pray Lord God that you keep us protected, Lord God from all hurt, harm and danger Lord and we just give you this summer, we give it to you and we give this upcoming school year to you already and we ask that you have your way and we give you all honor and glory.
Speaker A:In Jesus name I pray.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Well again thank you so much for listening and again I invite you to join us for our monthly prayer and encouragement call.
Speaker A:It will take place Wednesday, July 10th at 11am all you have to do is head to teaching with jesus.com to sign up again.
Speaker A:This will be linked in the show notes and again, join me.
Speaker A:I would love to link arms with you throughout this summer so we can continue to pray, to listen and transform.
Speaker A:And since we're in the summertime, we are going to plan.
Speaker A:Let's plan for a great school year.
Speaker A:We'll speak with you all later.
