At the time of Jesus, the pool of Bethesda was known as a place for invalids to gather, hoping to be healed by the supposed supernatural powers of the water. Here, Jesus finds a man who was lame for 38 years, and seemingly without hope. Out of the large crowd, Jesus seeks him out. Will Jesus answer the man’s plea to be taken to the water?
