Shownotes

The central theme of our discourse revolves around the characterization of churches based on their congregational demographics and the implications of such labels, particularly the term "gay church." We contend that the designation of a church as a "gay church" is not merely contingent upon the sexual orientation of its attendees, but rather it is fundamentally rooted in the doctrinal teachings and cultural ethos espoused by that congregation. We explore the assertion that if attendance was the sole criterion for classification, then all churches in Atlanta could be deemed "gay churches," a conclusion that merits rigorous examination. Furthermore, we critically analyze the ramifications of theological positions that endorse or condone homosexual behavior, positing that such teachings fundamentally undermine the essence of what constitutes a true church in accordance with biblical standards. Ultimately, our discussion seeks to illuminate the distinction between the presence of individuals with same-sex attractions within a church and the church's overarching theological stance regarding such lifestyles, advocating for a return to scriptural fidelity in defining the church's identity.

Transcripts

Speaker A:

Today's topic.

Speaker B:

This is a prophetic church.

Speaker B:

This is not a gay church.

Speaker B:

Because if a church is named by the identity of the people in the room.

Speaker A:

Room.

Speaker B:

Every church in Atlanta, Georgia, is a gay church.

Speaker B:

Every last one.

Speaker B:

I said what I said, and I'm not taking it back.

Speaker A:

I said what I said.

Speaker A:

I ain't taking it back.

Speaker A:

All right, well, you ain't gotta take it back, sir, but we are going to prescribe some truth to that error.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to Prescribed Truth.

Speaker A:

I'm Jamaal Benny, the one who seeks to distribute the truth that the doctor prescribes to the church and the world today.

Speaker A:

Bishop O.C.

Speaker A:

allen.

Speaker A:

I don't know who this is.

Speaker A:

I've never seen this before.

Speaker A:

This was actually sent to me by a viewer.

Speaker A:

There's a misunderstanding here that we need to address.

Speaker A:

And I think it's important because also by the caption that's on here, because this video is shared by Larry Reed in the caption reads, we tend to characterize every local church by the pastor, first lady, or the predominant attendees.

Speaker A:

Pretty regularly done.

Speaker A:

But O.C.

Speaker A:

said he's tired.

Speaker A:

Now, whether Larry Reed is being tongue in cheek or not, I don't know.

Speaker A:

But either way, I do agree that a lot of people tend to do this or a lot of people take offense at things being done like this.

Speaker A:

Let us clarify what is actually meant by someone claiming that a church is either a gay church or whatever case may be.

Speaker A:

Let's talk about that.

Speaker A:

In his statement, he says that, hey, you know, if it's only judged by the people that attends, by the makeup of the crowd, then every church in Atlanta, Georgia is a gay church.

Speaker A:

I don't know if he pastors in Atlanta because apparently this is a gay church, but there are a lot of pastors who are caught up in a lot of scandals, especially homosexual scandals in Atlanta.

Speaker A:

You know, we give a lot of titles to churches based on the character of the people that's there, based on the attendance.

Speaker A:

We call black church because it's predominantly black.

Speaker A:

And we also have white churches.

Speaker A:

You know, people always say it's white churches.

Speaker A:

You go to a white church, you go to a black church.

Speaker A:

Do you go to a Spanish church or Hispanic church?

Speaker A:

We have those.

Speaker A:

When it comes to ethnicities, right?

Speaker A:

You got your Baptist church, you got your Methodist church, you got all these titles before churches.

Speaker A:

But let's be clear, when it comes to calls within the black church, it's not even talking about the fact that there's a lot of people that are black in the Church, Yes.

Speaker A:

That is a lot of the reason why it's called a black church.

Speaker A:

Because you're not going to call, you're not going to call a church that's filled with predominantly Caucasian people a black church.

Speaker A:

Church.

Speaker A:

The culture that's in a lot of black churches are based off of black culture.

Speaker A:

The same thing when it comes to what we call white church or Caucasian church, what it be based on what we stereotype as the culture.

Speaker A:

So that's, that is this.

Speaker A:

It's not just about the makeup of the people, it's about the kind of culture that's there and what's being taught.

Speaker A:

So when it comes to gay church, it's not a gay church because you have predominantly gay people in your church.

Speaker A:

It's a gay church because of the culture and the teaching concerning homosexuality that makes someone call it a gay church.

Speaker A:

If there's a church teaching that homosexuality is okay, I don't call it a gay church.

Speaker A:

I don't call it a church at all.

Speaker A:

So that's me.

Speaker A:

So you're right, Bishop O.C.

Speaker A:

allen.

Speaker A:

I wouldn't just call you a gay church.

Speaker A:

I don't think it would be a church at all.

Speaker A:

Because that's not what the Bible teaches concerning his church.

Speaker A:

See, Christ is the one who establishes the bride.

Speaker A:

Christ is the one who gives us the description of what the bride is and who the bride of Christ is and what that is made up of.

Speaker A:

And it is not those who say it's okay to be homosexual.

Speaker A:

It's not made up of those who say it's okay to live outside of his commands.

Speaker A:

That's not the way God's church is set up.

Speaker A:

And so in that case, no, I wouldn't call that a church.

Speaker A:

So you're absolutely correct.

Speaker A:

Can we be honest about the fact that we're talking about the teaching of what's being said is okay in these type of churches, not necessarily of what the people are.

Speaker A:

Because you know what, there could be homosexuals in churches that actually believe that it is sin to practice homosexual lifestyles.

Speaker A:

It is sin to have homosexual affections.

Speaker A:

And so because they believe these things and yet they still sit in the crowd that don't make it a gay church because they too also could be trying to.

Speaker A:

They could be struggling with these things, these same sex desires, and they're wanting to be free of those things and they're looking to Christ to free them from these desires.

Speaker A:

So therefore, because they attend the church, don't make it a gay church.

Speaker A:

But what makes it a gay church is the teaching saying that it is okay and that God is pleased with that type of lifestyle.

Speaker A:

And I'm willing to bet that churches like Bishop O.C.

Speaker A:

allens would say that God is okay.

Speaker A:

He knows your heart and he's okay.

Speaker A:

He see you and everything else.

Speaker A:

He wants you to love.

Speaker A:

God's thing is he wants you to love.

Speaker A:

He wants you to be loved.

Speaker A:

And that's the way you got to get it.

Speaker A:

And that is false.

Speaker A:

And that is what we have to stand up for.

Speaker A:

That's what we have to stand up against in saying that no, this isn't church.

Speaker A:

That isn't right.

Speaker A:

Turn from that sin, repent and put your trust in Christ alone to put a nice little bow on this and end this.

Speaker A:

Because, hey, we can make very quick work of this.

Speaker A:

Let's not misunderstand what people are saying when we call it the gay church.

Speaker A:

So you may have thought you made a point, but you made no point at all.

Speaker A:

What you actually let us know is that you're not a church.

Speaker A:

If this is what you believe, this is what you practice.

Speaker A:

But yes, you are correct in saying that because there are people there who, who are homosexual doesn't make it a homosexual church.

Speaker A:

Now let me go another step further.

Speaker A:

If the pastor is a homosexual, he should not be pestering, which once again I would declare is not a true church.

Speaker A:

A true church has qualified leaders.

Speaker A:

Qualified not because of their degrees or anything like that.

Speaker A:

Qualified based on the Bible.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

The Bible tells us the qualifications of an elder.

Speaker A:

And if your elder does not meet those qualifications, especially and they can't meet those qualifications if they are practicing homosexual.

Speaker A:

You don't have a church.

Speaker A:

What you have is a gathering of individuals who want to share their ideas and their feelings and they want to shout and stomp in whatever case may be.

Speaker A:

But you don't have a church.

Speaker A:

Now that may seem offensive to some.

Speaker A:

And if it is, I would encourage you to look at the Scriptures, to open the Bible, to read it, to see what God actually says concerning these things.

Speaker A:

I'm just a messenger.

Speaker A:

I don't write the mail.

Speaker A:

Remember, this world is full of errors.

Speaker A:

But the only thing that the doctor prescribes is truth.

Speaker A:

And it's in his word.

Speaker A:

Until next time, blessings.
