“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.” (1 Cor. 2:7, KJV)
Warren Litzman further explains the “wisdom of God in a mystery” that Paul speaks of here. What is the wisdom? And what is the mystery? Well, these go hand in hand. We cannot know the mystery without the wisdom of God.
So how do we obtain this wisdom? It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit in the renewal of our minds that the mystery is revealed to us. The sole purpose of the Holy Spirit is to teach and reveal to us Christ living in us, the mystery God had ordained before the world was created. The mystery that through Christ’s death and resurrection, believers are born again, and Christ becomes their new life. We are new creations! God now sees Christ as our life and we too are His bona fide sons and daughters. We can now enter into His heavenly kingdom and share in His inheritance of eternal life with Him. This was His plan “unto our glory.”
Christ doesn’t give us the answer. Christ IS the answer. He is our wisdom, and He is the mystery.
