Shownotes

In this episode, we delve into John Acuff's book, which explores the impact of the soundtracks we play in our minds. These soundtracks directly influence our actions and achievements in life. The objective of the book is to shift these soundtracks from holding us back to supporting us in achieving our goals. To determine whether a soundtrack is worth keeping or discarding, we are encouraged to ask three important questions.

The first question we should ask ourselves is, "Is it true?" Often, we find ourselves believing things that are not entirely true or are completely false. These beliefs may arise from past experiences or long-held narratives. It is crucial for us to critically examine these soundtracks and assess their truthfulness.

The second question to consider is, "Is it helpful?" Even if a soundtrack may not be entirely true, it might still serve a purpose or add value in specific situations. However, we must evaluate whether it contributes positively to our lives. For instance, someone not liking us may be true, but we need to question whether it genuinely helps our happiness and progress.

The final question we need to ask ourselves is, "Is it kind?" We need to determine whether the soundtrack we are listening to is kind and supportive towards ourselves. Does it make us feel better and encourage us, or does it bring us down? Our self-talk plays a significant role in influencing the way we live and what we achieve. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that our soundtracks are kind and supportive.

Ultimately, the beliefs we hold and the things we tell ourselves shape our lives and determine our achievements. That is why we should continually evaluate our soundtracks, questioning whether they are true, helpful, and kind. By doing so, we can replace negative patterns with positive and empowering thoughts that support our growth and success.
