Shownotes

Humility stands as the foundational virtue that effectively dismantles pride and draws forth divine favor. As articulated in James 4:6, the proud are met with opposition from God, whilst the humble are recipients of His grace. This episode elucidates how humility is not synonymous with self-deprecation but rather entails a profound alignment with the acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty. We explore the implications of humility in fostering personal growth and facilitating prosperity, underscoring that true greatness, as exemplified by Jesus, arises not from the pursuit of status but from the willingness to serve. Ultimately, we are reminded that humility is not merely beneficial but essential for sustainable success and divine blessing in our lives.

Takeaways:

  • Humility is essential for receiving God's favor, as pride actively opposes it.
  • True humility aligns one with God, acknowledging personal worth while recognizing His supremacy.
  • A humble individual attracts opportunities and support, leading to sustainable prosperity and growth.
  • The example of Jesus illustrates that humility, rather than pride, leads to true greatness and fulfillment.

Transcripts

Speaker A:

Foreign.

Speaker A:

Welcome to the seven virtues of God.

Speaker A:

Character that produces prosperity.

Speaker A:

Now, this is not a cute series for good vibes.

Speaker A:

This is spiritual surgery.

Speaker A:

Because many people want God's blessings, but they don't want God's build.

Speaker A:

They want prosperity, but they refuse the character that can carry it.

Speaker A:

We're going to confront the seven deadly sins not with motivational talk, but with the virtues of God that destroy them.

Speaker A:

Humility against pride, Generosity against greed.

Speaker A:

Purity against lust.

Speaker A:

Love against envy.

Speaker A:

Patience against wrath.

Speaker A:

Contentment against gluttony and diligence against sloth.

Speaker A:

And hear me, hear me now.

Speaker A:

Your biggest breakthrough is not always a new job, a new deal or a new season.

Speaker A:

Sometimes your breakthrough is a new you.

Speaker A:

Because God changed.

Speaker A:

When God changes your character, he changes your capacity.

Speaker A:

And when your capacity increases, your prosperity becomes sustainable.

Speaker A:

So, brothers and sisters, let's buckle up.

Speaker A:

We're not here to be entertained.

Speaker A:

We are here to be transformed.

Speaker A:

Let's build the character, the kind of character that heaven can trust.

Speaker A:

As we go into our first message.

Speaker A:

Humility, the virtue that breaks pride and attracts favour.

Speaker A:

James 4, 6 tells us that God opposes the proud, but shows favour to the humble.

Speaker A:

Brothers and sisters, we are beginning at the root.

Speaker A:

Because pride isn't just one of the deadly sins.

Speaker A:

Pride is the engine behind many, if not all of them.

Speaker A:

And the cure is not trying harder.

Speaker A:

The cure is humility.

Speaker A:

Because pride blocks favor, humility unlocks it.

Speaker A:

Now, have you ever meet someone who can't be corrected?

Speaker A:

You can show them scripture, you can show them evidence, you can show them consequences.

Speaker A:

And they still say, no, that's not me.

Speaker A:

That's not confidence, that's pride wearing cologne.

Speaker A:

Because pride is when you are so committed to your self image that you refuse your own healing.

Speaker A:

And pride will make you lose relationships, opportunities and peace.

Speaker A:

Then you call it bad luck.

Speaker A:

No, no, no.

Speaker A:

Pride will keep you sick just to keep you right.

Speaker A:

Point 1.

Speaker A:

Humility is alignment with God, not self hatred.

Speaker A:

James 4, 6 says, God opposes the proud.

Speaker A:

That means pride puts you in God's resistance.

Speaker A:

Lane, you're praying, but heaven is saying, not like that.

Speaker A:

You're asking for increase, but pride is disqualifying your request.

Speaker A:

Now, humility is not you thinking you are nothing.

Speaker A:

Humility is knowing I am something, but I am not God.

Speaker A:

Y' all don't hear me.

Speaker A:

Humility is you knowing I am something, but I am not God.

Speaker A:

Proverbs 3, 5, 7 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

Speaker A:

Do not be wise in your own eyes.

Speaker A:

Fear the Lord and shun evil.

Speaker A:

Do not be Wise in your own eyes.

Speaker A:

Now that's the pride warning.

Speaker A:

Humility says, lord, you know better.

Speaker A:

I submit.

Speaker A:

Humility is spiritual intelligence.

Speaker A:

It knows who's boss.

Speaker A:

Point two of the message Humility attracts grace, favor and lifting.

Speaker A:

1 Peter 5, 6 says, says, humble yourselves that he may lift you up in due time.

Speaker A:

Humility positions you for lifting.

Speaker A:

Pride positions you for falling.

Speaker A:

And this is how humility links to prosperity.

Speaker A:

A humble person learns faster.

Speaker A:

A humble person gets mentored.

Speaker A:

A humble person corrects mistakes easy early.

Speaker A:

A humble person builds trust.

Speaker A:

And trust is currency.

Speaker A:

Trust is doors.

Speaker A:

Trust is promotion.

Speaker A:

God doesn't bless ego because ego can't be trusted with blessing.

Speaker A:

Ego turns resources into self worship.

Speaker A:

But humility turns resources into stewardship.

Speaker A:

God can pour into a humble vessel because humility doesn't spill.

Speaker A:

Point 3.

Speaker A:

Jesus proves humility creates true greatness.

Speaker A:

If anyone had the right to be proud, it was Jesus himself.

Speaker A:

But Philippians 2, 5, 8 shows he humbled himself.

Speaker A:

He served, he obeyed, he laid down his life.

Speaker A:

Jesus didn't become famous because he chased fame.

Speaker A:

He became known because he fulfilled assignment.

Speaker A:

And humility is what kept him obedient when it was uncomfortable.

Speaker A:

Humility is what kept him loving when he was mocked.

Speaker A:

Humility is what kept him focused when the crowd wanted a show.

Speaker A:

And what's the prosperity principle in Jesus life?

Speaker A:

He walked in favor.

Speaker A:

He walked in authority.

Speaker A:

He walked in supernatural supply.

Speaker A:

But he never used power to worship himself.

Speaker A:

Pride wants a throne.

Speaker A:

Humility carries a cross and inherits a crown.

Speaker A:

Here are some applicable lessons.

Speaker A:

1.

Speaker A:

Receive correction without drama, please.

Speaker A:

If someone corrects you, don't fight.

Speaker A:

Filter it.

Speaker A:

2.

Speaker A:

Apologize quickly.

Speaker A:

A fast apology is a sign of a strong spirit.

Speaker A:

3.

Speaker A:

Submit your plans to God.

Speaker A:

Ask Lord, is this your ego?

Speaker A:

Is this my ego or is this me?

Speaker A:

4.

Speaker A:

Serve intentionally.

Speaker A:

Do one thing that helps others without needing any credit.

Speaker A:

The fastest way up in the kingdom is down into humility.

Speaker A:

Now here's a warning.

Speaker A:

God opposes pride.

Speaker A:

That means pride fights your prayers.

Speaker A:

But here's encouragement.

Speaker A:

God gives grace to the humble.

Speaker A:

Grace is help.

Speaker A:

Grace is favor.

Speaker A:

Grace is strength.

Speaker A:

Grace is access.

Speaker A:

So if you want prosperity that lasts, humility is not optional.

Speaker A:

It's foundational.

Speaker A:

Humility is a security system of success.

Speaker A:

Here are some questions for reflection.

Speaker A:

Where do I resist correction the most?

Speaker A:

And why?

Speaker A:

And two, what am I protecting?

Speaker A:

My image or my growth?

Speaker A:

3.

Speaker A:

If God increased me today, what would pride?

Speaker A:

Would pride ruin me?

Speaker A:

Or would humility steward it?

Speaker A:

Let us pray.

Speaker A:

Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver us from pride, seeing pride and hidden pride.

Speaker A:

Forgive us for being unteachable, defensive and and self righteous.

Speaker A:

Close us with humility.

Speaker A:

Make us quick to repent, quick to learn and quick to obey.

Speaker A:

Help us to submit our plans, our money, our gifts and our future to you and lead us into biblical prosperity.

Speaker A:

Favor that doesn't corrupt us, increase that doesn't inflate us and access that honors you.

Speaker A:

In Jesus mighty name.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

That is Message one.

Speaker A:

Humility, the virtue that breaks pride and attracts favor.

Speaker A:

And in our next message we will be tackling generosity, the virtue that defeats greed and activates overflow.
