Speaker:

Hey there.

2

:

. In today's podcast, I'm going to

go over a free blogging platform

3

:

and answer a couple of questions.

4

:

I have had recently about blogging.

5

:

So this episode's not

going to be very long.

6

:

I hope that, if you are curious about

blogging, then you'll stick around and.

7

:

Listen to this follow-up

episode, all about.

8

:

Vacation rental blogging, because

it is definitely something

9

:

that you should consider doing.

10

:

And if you don't have a website

for that right now, Or if you have

11

:

a website, but you're not really

sure how to use the blogging.

12

:

Portion of it.

13

:

Then this episode is really

going to help you with that.

14

:

Jolene and bait are here with me

today in the background wrestling.

15

:

And You may hear them,

hopefully not because of, but

16

:

they're playing right behind me.

17

:

Bait is my daughter, Katie's dog

and Katie and her boyfriend and

18

:

bait moved in with me last month.

19

:

And I'm super excited.

20

:

Katie is my baby.

21

:

She's 21 and she's a sophomore in college.

22

:

And, it's been really

nice to have her around.

23

:

Even though bait and

Jolene cannot sit still.

24

:

They are always on the go they're both.

25

:

Three-year-olds.

26

:

And they play, play, which

kind of gets annoying.

27

:

It has been a crazy busy week for me.

28

:

I participated in the direct

booking success summit.

29

:

And if you did not get in on

that, you should definitely check

30

:

it out with the all access pass.

31

:

It was fantastic.

32

:

This is the third year I've

participated all three years.

33

:

And I will say that

this was the best year.

34

:

There were so many great

presentations I've watched about,

35

:

I would say about a third of them.

36

:

And then also watched some of the

lives that were in the Facebook group.

37

:

The event was live this past week, but

you can buy the all access pass and get

38

:

access to all of the recordings she had 22

different presentations and then there's

39

:

also a lot of great freebies with that

all access pass, including my content.

40

:

Mapping toolkit you're listening

to this before the middle of

41

:

October, check it out, you can

use my link is Jody borne.com.

42

:

Back slash success.

43

:

I'll put it in the show

notes., I get a little bit of

44

:

margarita money if you do that.

45

:

So I'd appreciate you using that link.

46

:

If you do.

47

:

N the summit I presented

on creating a content map.

48

:

The content map is really a way to

brainstorm so that all your content links

49

:

together hits your perfect guest avatar.

50

:

It's a way to map your

content strategy and.

51

:

It's what I use.

52

:

When I start working with a client, a

content map, I have a whole bunch of them.

53

:

Saved in spreadsheets in my

Google drive from years past, even

54

:

going back to 2017, when I was

working with a client in Hawaii.

55

:

So it's definitely something

I've evolved over time,

56

:

if you did not get in on the book,

direct success summit, and you

57

:

would like a live presentation

of the content mapping toolkit.

58

:

Then check out Jody borne.com

back slash workshop, because

59

:

I'm going to be given that live.

60

:

I own October 17th of this year, and

I'm going to have the replace set up.

61

:

At least through the end of the year.

62

:

So even if it's after October and

you want to join that workshop,

63

:

Go ahead and sign up because it

will be available as a replay

64

:

now if you don't have a

website, how do you blog?

65

:

What do you do?

66

:

There's lots of tools out

there for creating a website.

67

:

But they all are, have their

own level of difficulty.

68

:

A lot of people have this idea that

they actually have to have the direct

69

:

booking part of their website set up.

70

:

Before they can do anything

online other than social media.

71

:

And I just wanted to let you know that

there are tools you can use, just so

72

:

you can go ahead and start blogging.

73

:

Today, very quickly and very easily.

74

:

And one of my favorite

tools is called blogger.

75

:

Blogger is owned by Google.

76

:

It's one of the many tools that

Google has for helping you create a

77

:

successful business and it is free to use.

78

:

It's almost as easy as creating

a word document, to be honest.

79

:

You jump in, you sign up or you

connect with your Google email address.

80

:

If you don't have a Google email

address and you hate Google.

81

:

You need a Google email

address for so many things.

82

:

You need a Google username.

83

:

Go ahead and grab one.

84

:

Because this is just one of

the many tools that you can

85

:

use with a Google account.

86

:

So jump into blogger.

87

:

And then you can start blogging.

88

:

It's that easy blogger will

allow you to use their free

89

:

domain, whatever they give you.

90

:

I think you can customize it

with your name or with your

91

:

business name a little bit.

92

:

But you can also connect

it to a pro domain.

93

:

So if you buy a domain, which is like

the www dot Jody, born.com or your

94

:

business.com, you can buy that domain

name and go ahead and connect it.

95

:

Now to your blog.

96

:

If you don't have a website, Then.

97

:

It says easiest, starting, just jump in.

98

:

This presentation that I just told

you about will definitely help you

99

:

with the jumping in process, but

you can start creating content.

100

:

Nobody even know has to

know that you have it.

101

:

Until you start getting

better and better at blogging.

102

:

And the only way to get better

at something is to start.

103

:

if you join the content marketing

workshop, you'll see how your blog

104

:

content can be repurposed over

time to all sorts of other content.

105

:

But jumping in with the blog right

now, is the number one way you

106

:

are ever going to get traffic.

107

:

To your website.

108

:

Now blogger does have some templates

that you can use to make it pretty.

109

:

If you want to, you can add images.

110

:

You can add search engine optimization.

111

:

To the blog because it will

get traffic from Google.

112

:

So it's really remarkable that

this free tool exists to help you.

113

:

Get started with this content planning.

114

:

You can use internal links in

the blog, so you can link your

115

:

blog post to other blog posts.

116

:

And I teach that in the workshop.

117

:

You can link it to external content,

which you should definitely do.

118

:

So if you write an article

about hiking trails, you should

119

:

link to the hiking trails map.

120

:

You can connect your blog to a

MailChimp landing page or any

121

:

email marketing landing page.

122

:

So that you can get people to sign

up for your newsletter go back to

123

:

my email marketing podcast episodes.

124

:

The most important reason.

125

:

That you want to have content is

so you can get people to interact

126

:

and engage with your content.

127

:

So you're going to link people to

your email marketing signup form.

128

:

You're going to link

people to your listing.

129

:

If you don't have a book direct

website, then you can link people

130

:

to your listing on Airbnb or BRBO.

131

:

There's another really cool tool out there

that I just found out about called Bookly.

132

:

It is a basically it's

a landing page that.

133

:

Syncs with Airbnb.

134

:

Things with VRVO.

135

:

So you can actually bring in your reviews,

your listing details, your photos.

136

:

It's an easy one step process.

137

:

I did a video in my reels that you

can check out if you want to I'll

138

:

link to that in the show notes.

139

:

And I'll also link to Bookly

because they gave me a 15% off

140

:

coupon for anybody that signs up.

141

:

So I'll put the details for that

in the show notes, or you're

142

:

welcome to email me or DME.

143

:

To find out more about it, but

it's a really cool tool that

144

:

I encourage you to check out.

145

:

If you don't have a website right

now, And honestly, even if you do

146

:

have a website, this is a great tool

as a mobile friendly landing page.

147

:

So if you're using social

media, Or text-based marketing.

148

:

This is a great tool for that too,

because you can just really simply and

149

:

easily click to a mobile landing page.

150

:

Where they can read your reviews

really quick, read more about you.

151

:

And then click through to wherever

they are most comfortable booking.

152

:

No, there are other free

blogging tools you can go to.

153

:

You can use wordpress.com where you

can actually start a WordPress blog.

154

:

They also have free templates.

155

:

A lot of people are

intimidated by WordPress.

156

:

There's actually two

versions of WordPress.

157

:

There's this that I just mentioned.

158

:

That you can sign up for

and it's self hosted.

159

:

They, you can sign up and

they will host it for you.

160

:

But you can also like I build

WordPress sites that just use the

161

:

CMS, the content management system

software from WordPress, and then you

162

:

have to add it to your own hosting.

163

:

So that's two different things.

164

:

This work person I'm talking

about is pretty simple to

165

:

get started with just a blog.

166

:

And again, they have templates.

167

:

So it doesn't matter

which one you want to use.

168

:

I will see say if you're a tech newbie.

169

:

And the thought of WordPress

scares you to death.

170

:

Then just start with blogger.

171

:

It is seriously.

172

:

As simple as opening up a word

document and start typing.

173

:

Now I wanted to answer a

couple of questions that I've

174

:

had recently about blogging.

175

:

The funniest was a question that I had

in another Facebook group that I did a

176

:

free training for a week before last.

177

:

And the lady asked the question,

do I really have to blog?

178

:

And the answer to that is no,

you don't really have to blog.

179

:

If you don't want to blog, if

you hate the thought of blogging.

180

:

You don't have to block, but having a

blog is definitely going to help you.

181

:

Have a long-term strategy.

182

:

Once you write your blog posts, then your

blog posts are going to be there forever.

183

:

And they are going to just take a

little bit of maintenance, yearly

184

:

maintenance to keep them updated.

185

:

So the second question is how do

I find keywords to use for my bog?

186

:

And the answer to that is

there's a ton of tools out there.

187

:

So I recommend a tool

called keywords everywhere.

188

:

You can sign up, pay in advance, and

then it links with a bunch of other

189

:

tools you can search keywords in.

190

:

And YouTube Google all over the place.

191

:

It's really a fantastic tool.

192

:

The problem with using a tool

that, that gives you some key that

193

:

does keyword research for you is

you really have to understand.

194

:

Why keywords are important, what keywords

are the best to use, which ones are

195

:

going to work for you and your business.

196

:

And it's much more difficult than

just looking in Google to see

197

:

how many searches a keyword gets.

198

:

How competitive is it?

199

:

How many people are

creating content for it?

200

:

Are people advertising for it?

201

:

If so, what are they paying for ads?

202

:

That tells you how hard it

is to, it's going to be, to

203

:

show up on Google for that.

204

:

So there's much more involved with

keyword research than just looking up,

205

:

how many people search for a keyword.

206

:

But if you're familiar with that, or if

you're just curious about keywords in

207

:

general, I would highly recommend getting

that Chrome extension keywords everywhere.

208

:

And then the third question.

209

:

I received about blogging is.

210

:

Is how do I use chat GPT for blogging?

211

:

I would say the chat GPT is a great

tool for brainstorming for outlining.

212

:

For giving some feedback on

your writing style, maybe for.

213

:

Finding good synonyms for words that

you frequently use, maybe for act.

214

:

Adding some descriptive

content to your blog posts.

215

:

But , blogging is really more about

being yourself, being personable.

216

:

Being real.

217

:

And when you're real and when you're

personable and when you're sharing

218

:

content in your blog that is useful and

informative and provides great value.

219

:

Then that you're going to get

readers and you're going to get people

220

:

that are engaging with your blog.

221

:

Using chat GPT is risky.

222

:

You run the risk of plagiarizing.

223

:

You run the risk of putting out content.

224

:

That's not real.

225

:

That doesn't exist because

chatty PT will make up things.

226

:

I've seen it.

227

:

Do it.

228

:

It's given me lots of content.

229

:

That was not correct.

230

:

So you really have the opportunity to

write something great on your own and then

231

:

use chat GPT to make it a little better

232

:

I hope you'll stay tuned

for another vacation rental

233

:

marketing foundations episode.

234

:

We've got two more weeks of these.

235

:

In the meantime, I have a great

week and check out the show notes

236

:

to get links to all the things.

237

:

And i'll see you later bye y'all
