Obligatory disclaimer, there is no one size fits all
Kasim:golden rule template that works in Google ads as ubiquitous truth.
Kasim:You need no Google inside out, upside down left, right, and
Kasim:center in order to properly use it.
Kasim:If you didn't, I wouldn't have a job.
Kasim:That said, I wanna share the key campaign types that we
Kasim:build for almost every client.
Kasim:There are six of them.
Kasim:And again, there are exceptions to the rules, obviously, and I'm only saying
Kasim:that so you don't nail me in the comments.
Kasim:But they're also.
Kasim:I think good to build when in doubt when in doubt build 'em
Kasim:unless you feel like you strongly shouldn't for whatever reason.
Kasim:So I'll just dive into it.
Kasim:I'll stop making disclaimers.
Kasim:The six key campaign types.
Kasim:Number one, numerous UNO brand campaigns.
Kasim:I know all the reasons why you don't want to do this, but
Kasim:you must or maybe you don't.
Kasim:I shot a whole video on brand campaigns and I'll link to it in
Kasim:the description of this video.
Kasim:I have gone back and forth for a long time.
Kasim:I was like, you have to build brand campaigns.
Kasim:And I was like, no, don't do it at all.
Kasim:You're gonna get the traffic.
Kasim:And now I'm like, what?
Kasim:We need the attribution.
Kasim:It's somewhere in the middle.
Kasim:It's not 0%, it's not a hundred percent.
Kasim:It depends on your business.
Kasim:Watch that video if you're interested in learning more about
Kasim:the nuances of brand campaigns.
Kasim:But it is a key campaign type.
Kasim:And when in doubt, I think you should do it.
Kasim:In an absolute minimum, I think you should protect your most effective brand traffic
Kasim:cuz all traffic is a bell curve and you can bid for the center of the curve.
Kasim:And if you watch that video, you'll know what I mean.
Kasim:Campaign time.
Kasim:Number two, inbound campaigns.
Kasim:These are what you think they are.
Kasim:Search, shopping, dsa.
Kasim:This is people searching for the thing that you're selling.
Kasim:Maybe the most important campaign type inside of Google.
Kasim:Just for strategy of course.
Kasim:This is bottom of the funnel traffic.
Kasim:This is where you actually get to make money and see the money that you're
Kasim:making, cuz attribution is a lot easier at the bottom of the funnel too.
Kasim:inbound campaigns.
Kasim:You don't necessarily have to live here.
Kasim:Here's what's funny.
Kasim:I don't run inbound campaigns for myself anymore.
Kasim:I don't because it's the expensive.
Kasim:But this is where we started.
Kasim:And then I like to start at the bottom of the funnel and then work my way up.
Kasim:We call it the bottom up funnel.
Kasim:Something John ran invented and then I took credit for later, which is pretty
Kasim:much the way our relationship functions.
Kasim:Ah, campaign type number three, outbound campaigns, the most frustrating campaigns
Kasim:in the world because they don't work until they do, but you can't tell
Kasim:they're working unless they don't.
Kasim:But you don't know.
Kasim:So how would you, this outbound campaigns, that whole quote about like
Kasim:half of my advertising spend is wasted.
Kasim:I just dunno what half it's in the outbound campaigns, we know that for sure.
Kasim:I spent $150,000 a month on YouTube.
Kasim:YouTube tells me my cost per lead is $5,000, five to six, depending
Kasim:on the month, where I believe my real cost lead is two to $300.
Kasim:That's an outbound campaign.
Kasim:Outbound campaigns are massively disconnected.
Kasim:Now it depends on the outbound channel you're using, and it could be YouTube
Kasim:display or outside the Google ecosystem.
Kasim:Toula, Outbrain rhetoric out, ad roll Twitter Facebook.
Kasim:Of course Facebook is the outbound.
Kasim:Ad mechanism TikTok is coming up on nipping its heels.
Kasim:This is where you go out and educate prospects.
Kasim:You earn attention or you buy attention.
Kasim:You really buy attention.
Kasim:You don't earn it per se.
Kasim:I guess you earn subsequent attention.
Kasim:I'm splitting hairs, semantic problem, outbound campaigns.
Kasim:Outbound campaigns are critically important if you wanna market in a silo.
Kasim:So your inbound campaigns are bottom of the funnel and they're more effective.
Kasim:But this is also where you're basically paying for traffic that's
Kasim:already been warmed up by the industry and or ecosystem at large.
Kasim:Outbound campaigns is like, all right, I know my offer works now.
Kasim:Maybe I can go warm this traffic up myself and it's gonna be
Kasim:much, much, much cheaper.
Kasim:You don't really have.
Kasim:Functional advertising until you have functional outbound campaigns.
Kasim:And I'm a Google guy saying this, y'all like, there's nothing
Kasim:inside of my self-interest that would support this narrative.
Kasim:I'm telling it for to you.
Kasim:For you.
Kasim:And Google's fine at outbound in some instances.
Kasim:Mostly in YouTube, the Google display network.
Kasim:I've never seen work en mass.
Kasim:I've seen it work in specific No, no.
Kasim:Take remarketing aside.
Kasim:Of course, of course.
Kasim:I've seen it work for specific outbound approaches, but it's so big and Google's
Kasim:so bad at allowing us to segment.
Kasim:At least they used to be that it's such an opportunity that I haven't
Kasim:been able to crack the code on.
Kasim:If you have let me know if I want the comment.
Kasim:At least again, not in mass.
Kasim:We've done it in a few.
Kasim:Micro niches or micro implementations, or massive spends.
Kasim:But for outbound, I like YouTube, Facebook, of course.
Kasim:And then really, I like to go industry specific.
Kasim:You know, depending on the industry, maybe it's a targeted email newsletter through
Kasim:an association that they're a part of.
Kasim:Like, don't limit yourself when it comes to outbound.
Kasim:Go get awareness, however you can.
Kasim:Number four.
Kasim:Competitive campaigns.
Kasim:This is where you can steal your competitors' most valuable traffic.
Kasim:This is also why you need a bid on your own branded traffic,
Kasim:so people don't do this to you.
Kasim:This was one of our core key strategies for our real estate investment agency.
Kasim:We had the highest performing real estate, real estate investment campaigns on the
Kasim:planet for almost seven years, almost.
Kasim:Over something close to seven years.
Kasim:And one of the things we did is we, anytime we entered a new geography,
Kasim:we'd just go figure out who's spending the most in traditional advertising.
Kasim:Cuz real estate investors at the time were hemorrhaging money on
Kasim:radio, television, newspaper.
Kasim:And so they were, they were just like pouring money into these things.
Kasim:But nobody converts off of those standalone, they all go to Google.
Kasim:And so we would just bid on their name and capture hundreds of
Kasim:thousands of dollars worth of traffic.
Kasim:It was brilliant.
Kasim:Brilliant.
Kasim:Don't let somebody do this to you.
Kasim:Competitor campaigns.
Kasim:Campaign number five, remarketing.
Kasim:I, Rick heck, who I love and is brilliant, he was just on
Kasim:perpetual traffic, by the way.
Kasim:Go check out that episode.
Kasim:He has a whole concept that he calls omnichannel remarketing.
Kasim:You should be running remarketing across every.
Kasim:Possible ad network.
Kasim:And so that's Google, of course, Facebook, of course, Twitter, AdRoll, tabula
Kasim:outbreak, like anything that allows you to run remarketing, you should run
Kasim:remarketing on because that's your most valuable traffic and you can build out
Kasim:rules so that you're only speaking to the,
Kasim:The viable prospects within that.
Kasim:And that would be things like, you know, they've been on the site for a
Kasim:certain amount of time, they haven't converted, they went to my pricing page.
Kasim:Things like that.
Kasim:Campaign type number six, smart campaigns.
Kasim:This was something of a catchall, cuz I didn't know where to put these, but
Kasim:like goal driven campaigns like, PMAX or dsa even, I know DSA is technically
Kasim:inbound, but you know what I mean.
Kasim:Things that allow Google to handle the placement, the
Kasim:audience, the creative decisions.
Kasim:You can't call Pmax inbound.
Kasim:You can't call it outbound.
Kasim:It's a smart campaign and it's going to do the thing that you want it to do.
Kasim:So it's goal driven.
Kasim:Facebook's trying to build things like this.
Kasim:It's doing it poorly but it'll get there within the Facebook ad ecosystem.
Kasim:So, smart campaigns are the six type of campaign.
Kasim:I'd love to know if there's a campaign category that you think I've missed
Kasim:that you build as a general rule.
Kasim:A general rule.
Kasim:In addition to my six campaigns drop it in the comments.
Kasim:I appreciate you watching.
