Summary:

He first loved us. The revelation of that scripture has always provided a drive in His sons to return such a wonderful gift. As we realize that His love must be the very foundation of our lives, a cry begins to come up out of our hearts; Lord, I tie this sacrifice to the horns of Your altar! Show Notes:
  • The love of the Father in our midst is the very foundation of the way we love Him.

  • The dying out to ourselves is very much involved in coming into the love of the Father.

  • He loved us while we were yet sinners. How patient He has been and long suffering because He loves us.

  • Out of God’s love for us He revels things to us that need to be changed.

  • God’s love must be a revelation to us.

  • We must have the love of God in our hearts because human love always fails.

  • Christ is being faithful to show us the Father’s love.

  • We bind our old nature as a sacrifice to the horns of the altar.

  • We are confronted by the love of God and it begins to empty us out of our wrong motivations.

  • As we lay down ourselves and our motivations we come to the place of truly loving our brother and serving him.

  • The altar of God’s dealings in my life and everything that He takes me through; He is creating something more in my life. That is knowing Him in a greater way.

Quotes:

  • The real laying down and emptying out of our-self is involved.

  • Out of His love, and goodness for us; He shows us where things might not be the way we thought they were.

  • The love of God has to be a revelation of His heart to us.

  • His love in us never fails. Our love will fail every day of the week.

  • I don't believe there can be any walking in the love of the Father, without the continued emptying out of self.

  • God is really moving us into this business of knowing the Father's heart through Jesus Christ.

  • We know that what He started He will complete unto the day of the Lord, and we just say, “just tie us to the altar to be Your sacrifice.”

  • You always think it's done until you find out it's not. And the only way we find out it's not quite done is because the Lord reveals Himself to you.

  • Everyone of us have cried, “Lord I want to know Your heart, Father I want to know you.”

  • All I can see is, lay down your life for your brother. Pray for your brother and your sister. Serve.

  • There's great joy. There's nothing more liberating and freeing than just moving in His love.

The love of the Father manifested in our midst is really what it's all about. It is the root; it's the foundation of everything. The way we love Him, and the way we love each other. It doesn't get any greater than that. You can be right on a matter. You can be wrong on a matter. It doesn't make any difference.

The love of God under-girds it all. The real laying down and emptying out of our-self is involved. Just coming into the love of the Father's heart for one another, and just for people. We all have our biases, our prejudices, the way we see things, and it's hard to get past those things sometimes. And yet God doesn't have a problem getting past stuff.

He loved us while we were yet sinners, the Word says. That's pretty basic. How patient He has been and long suffering with me. Because He loves us and He wants us to be as He is; so we are to be in the world. Out of His love, and goodness for us; He shows us where things might not be the way we thought they were.

That is the kindness and compassion of the Lord. The love of the Father is something so far beyond anything that we can attain on a human level; it cannot be done. The love of God has to be a revelation of His heart to us. And if it's not a revelation of the Lord, we're still functioning on some degree out of human affection, emotion, whatever. And those things are subject to failure. Love never fails. That's what it says there in, was it Corinthians 13. Love never fails. His love in us never fails. Our love will fail every day of the week. But His love will never fail.

I don't believe there can be any walking in the love of the Father, without the continued emptying out of self. If we don't recognize our own motivations at times, and the things we do, the things we minister, and we think we're doing it unto the Lord. All I guess I'm trying to say is there's a depth of God's love that just swallows up the self life. It's so powerful.

God is really moving us into this business of knowing the Father's heart through Jesus Christ. Christ, the faithful witness, and He is faithful. He's being faithful to really show us the Father's heart that we, through Him, we see it, and how intense it is, and how devoid of humanity it is, of Adamic humanity. It's clean and it's pure and there's nothing of self in it.

Every one of us have cried for that. Lord, I want to know your heart. I want to know the father's heart. Father, I want to know you.

Ken and I were before the Lord this morning and we were just giving God permission to tie us to the horns of the altar in any area where we're resisting the work that He's doing within us.

We know that what He started He will complete and to the day of the Lord, and we just say, “just tie us to the altar to be Your sacrifice.”

I have to keep myself tied to the altar of God's dealings in my life, and every aspect, everything that He takes me through, everything He takes you through. He is creating something more in your life, and that “more” is knowing Him in a greater way.

We're actually opening our hearts to God and saying, Lord, show us. Lead us into this day, keep us tied to that altar of repentance and seeking You with all of our heart. So many people stop midstream, and they don't find the completion or even close to the completion of what God's doing in our lives.

It's a living sacrifice. Romans 12, 1, “I beseech you, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present yourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service of worship.” I don't see any letting off of that particular place that God has brought us to. It's an eternal place.

Then He winds up in the Beatitudes saying, “be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Okay; go to that one and you go - oh Wait a minute - You want me to be perfect Lord as the Father is perfect. Yes! I don't think that gives you a stopping place. I don't think you can say I've arrived. I think you just have to keep reaching in and keep tied to the horns of the altar. And I think we're all in that same place. ,That we can't excuse our-self. God's gonna have a body that's without spot and without wrinkle; It's gonna be pure

Part of me goes, "oh, this is too much. I can't do it, I can't handle it." And the other part of me goes no this is what you've been called for your whole life is to enter into His love. It feels like Armageddon, inside of me.

That's what it feels like. That's a good way to say it. I can feel the two, two forces, of course, who's going to win. By faith, I tie myself to the horns of the altar.

We're beginning to see what the love of the Father really means. We want to be free from self. We just haven't been able to get down to the root of it.

And I think this business of the love of the Father of beginning to see it. You're confronted with His love and you're just devoid of everything that is motivated you on a human level; that you wouldn't have thought was a human level. All I can see is, lay down your life for your brother. Pray for your brother and your sister.

Serve. There's parts of the old man nature that don't want to do any of those things. But when we come face to face with the love of the Father, we then realize this is it. If we don't submit somehow to being tied down to the altar, we'll run. All your motivation that you thought was good and right in God seems to just dissipate.

Of course, there's been a measure of God, and His motivation in us to please Him, to serve Him. He's created that in us. But now it seems like there's just a new level. I say a new level because dang, man, you always think it's done until you find out it's not. You always think it's done until you find out it's not.

And the only way we find out it's not quite done is because the Lord reveals Himself to us. That comes out of a revelation of the Father to us. And really on the other end of this thing, I know there's great joy. There's great joy. There's nothing more liberating and freeing than just moving in His love.

If we do not exceed how the world does things in the way of love, then we're no better than the world. If you only love those who love you, what good is that? The world does the same. But your love as your Father loves. Ah, that's a whole different realm. The love is our Father loves. Because God undoes us.

Because we're going to move in such a glory, such a freedom, such a liberation to serve one another. This is where God's brought us.

Knowing the Father and getting to know Him, and letting go of yourself is an individual thing, but it's collective. It's not something that happens overnight.

Through it, the Lord is so great. He gives us such grace. We're human, and He's been there. He knows what it's like. What else can you do but humble and stand in His presence? What I do know is that He's a loving Father. I'm thankful every day that He has not given up on me. He's not given up on us. He's saying, no we're going full steam ahead.

We have to go through this. It has to happen. And thank you, Lord. We take on the love of the Father and give us the eyes and ears to hear it and see it, the joy of the Lord, all these wonderful things that He is to us. By Your grace, Father. I will make it through this.

He is creating within each one of us a level of gold purified by the fire that nothing else can take the place of it. I tell you, this furnace is hot sometimes. But it has to be hot to burn up the sacrifice, to burn up the things like the wood, the hay, and the stubble that does accumulate in our lives And God has to put the fire to that so that nothing that remains is nothing less than gold and silver and precious before the Lord. Is God enough for your life? Is He everything to you? Would you do anything at all that you could do to really please the Lord? We would say, Lord do whatever you need to do to complete the work that you've started in each one of our lives.
