[:

[00:00:09] Frank Roll III: Hollywood and the independent video

[:

[00:00:22] Scott Moran: Does this hold up? And just, what the hell is a good movie? Anyway, I'm Frank Ro. I'm Scott Moran, and we are the last video store

[:

[00:00:37] Frank Roll III: I sleepy. So what'd you watch? Finished Fucking Gladiators. No, I have not finished Arnold. I will though. But Amazon Prime, Arctic Void.

[:

[00:00:49] Frank Roll III: mega doc? It was a sci-fi thriller boat. Somewhere Arctic, you know, I thought like Norway, but then I'm leaning more towards like, it was maybe like Russia, I don't know.

[:

[00:01:19] Frank Roll III: Anything with void in the title? I'm just gonna say no for a couple years. What about the void? Is that the one with the masks and the shape? Yeah. That touched you in a different way than I felt about it. I loved it. You were all about it. It wasn't up my alley at the time. I didn't feel it the way you felt it.

[:

[00:01:40] Scott Moran: like, I don't think that's a strong

[:

[00:01:53] Frank Roll III: I look for patterns, always looking for the pattern. But

[:

[00:01:57] Frank Roll III: Arctic Void wasn't horrible. I thought I recognized the main guy, you know who he was. The cop from Super Troopers, like the, he was the redheaded one with the, it was one of the city cops. The city cop with the mustache.

[:

[00:02:22] Scott Moran: I love that when you look something up on i m DV and the reason you know who it is, is such an obscure, like, well

[:

[00:02:42] Frank Roll III: Who's someone who's like bear fucker? I

[:

[00:02:54] Frank Roll III: aren't physical. Yeah. You just jump on something like Amazon, you're like, oh, my library.

[:

[00:02:58] Scott Moran: think I have like 10 or 15 movies on Google play. Oh,

[:

[00:03:07] Scott Moran: actually probably too far. Oh God no. No. I think it's like the first new Star Wars movie is

[:

[00:03:15] Scott Moran: No, no, that's not older than Spun.

[:

[00:03:25] Frank Roll III: Sorry I went back a little further.

[:

[00:03:35] Scott Moran: It's coming out. I'm gonna buy it. I only do that to Christopher Nolan movies. Now

[:

[00:03:47] Scott Moran: Oppenheimer outta You. That's the first trailer. Didn't tell me anything about the movie. I'll watch any Christopher Nolan movie. I watched Dunk Kirk more than once and it's just, it's okay.

[:

[00:04:07] Scott Moran: better. Well, it just felt like movie making, like me watching movie making like Dunkirk was. It was fine, but it was like watching someone do Spielberg to me a little bit.

[:

[00:04:30] Frank Roll III: Sideways Reign, big old fat Rain.

[:

me

[:

[00:04:41] Frank Roll III: Yeah. That was the one that was on H B O Max, right?

[:

[00:04:51] Frank Roll III: Two, creep me out more than three. Did

[:

[00:04:59] Scott Moran: They're pretty close, but two was the more nun centric of the two. Yeah. And then the nun. That's what I mean. The nun was fine. It's okay. Yeah, it was creepy. I'm not gonna lie. It got me a couple times. She's tall and scary. That

[:

[00:05:20] Frank Roll III: In the last week. Well, no, no, just in general. Uh, I'm sitting in my room gaming it, right? Got the headset on, talking to people. I'm always on the lookout, whether it be like zombies on the loose paranormal activity, you know, I'm just always like noises, whatnot. I see my door handle, move outta the corner of my eye and then I watch it move again, and then it pushes.

[:

[00:05:58] Scott Moran: Oh. Like, she was like, gonna come in. And then she was like, eh. And then, yeah,

[:

[00:06:15] Frank Roll III: You're gonna fight a ghost? I'm like,

[:

[00:06:33] Frank Roll III: Yeah. Every now and then we get some weird shit and it's, you know, could be in my head, could be something, who knows?

[:

[00:06:50] Scott Moran: The last time I remember it when we were in Colorado in a giant Airbnb, like we rented a house that was far too big.

[:

[00:07:15] Frank Roll III: be.

[:

[00:07:19] Scott Moran: getting Nope. I went back to bed like a, you know, like a, like I was gonna hide under the covers. 'cause I thought something was in the room. It was just the sheer size of a unfamiliar house and then that like feeling that you could not possibly just check the house.

[:

[00:07:48] Scott Moran: wifi signals.

[:

[00:07:59] Frank Roll III: oh, well, Airbnb's hurting right now. Sorry. We're not gonna get into a whole Airbnb like, yeah, no, I don't wanna talk about that.

[:

[00:08:17] Scott Moran: It defeats the purpose. I would rather just stay in a hotel.

[:

[00:08:20] Frank Roll III: anxiety, like it, it put me at a certain level of anxiety. In the house

[:

[00:08:33] Frank Roll III: They didn't have chocolates out with like our names on a chalkboard with little hearts and smiley faces and shit.

[:

[00:08:38] Scott Moran: is my colonic?

[:

[00:08:45] Scott Moran: I don't know. It's a fun word to say though. If

[:

[00:08:54] Scott Moran: I mean, other than that, the, the most notable thing that I watched that I haven't already talked about on here or something mm-hmm. That isn't just in progress stuff, is I made Kelly watch Edge of Tomorrow.

[:

[00:09:04] Frank Roll III: it's on. Yeah. Yeah,

[:

[00:09:07] Frank Roll III: I almost gave it another shot. Maybe I

[:

[00:09:11] Frank Roll III: I just, I mean, it's a different kind of repeater. I thought

[:

[00:09:17] Frank Roll III: I'm not gonna lie to you. I don't remember that. Bill Paxton was in it.

[:

[00:09:22] Frank Roll III: That's Odd. Paxton, Emily Blunt, right? The sensual character. Emily Blunt. Tom Cruise, yes. Yeah, that's Bill Pat. No way. You know how I feel about the man.

I

[:

[00:09:41] Scott Moran: So since then you've forgotten. No. Something is eating holes in your brain. What

[:

[00:09:50] Scott Moran: gonna find where we talked about it and show it to you.

[:

[00:09:59] Scott Moran: Stride?

[:

[00:10:04] Frank Roll III: Absolutely. I don't know because I feel as if we haven't discussed Ed, because what came to my mind was, what's that one? The Tomorrow War, the Chris Pratt? Is that what it's called? The Amazon? I don't think we've ever

[:

[00:10:15] Scott Moran: That was But that's the movie that came a

[:

[00:10:23] Scott Moran: off the bat. Yeah, it was fine. It was an unmemorable hour and 45 minutes.

[:

[00:10:35] Scott Moran: You did. I remember you telling me not to go see it in the theater, and then I just never watched it for like

[:

[00:10:44] Scott Moran: one more time. Anytime there's an article about how it's problematic, I read it. I'll tell you that my clickbait is weird.

[:

[00:10:54] Frank Roll III: is kind of creepy. I guess it's

[:

[00:11:02] Frank Roll III: way. No. Yeah. That you're not leaving that because I can't stop, I I can't talk about Rapy fingers. It's a whole gaming thing that we were talking about. It's like, oh, he is got, I bet he's got rapy fingers.

[:

[00:11:23] Frank Roll III: Yeah. I mean, it's the last thing we talked about watching on Hulu. Nothing. We didn't even

[:

[00:11:28] Frank Roll III: yeah. This one was a surprise to me that we were doing one more.

[:

[00:11:37] Scott Moran: Yeah. They were like, oh, here you go. And I feel like they proved our point where Hulu is reliable for some weird, where do you really get the weird. Hulu

[:

[00:11:49] Scott Moran: nineties. Good weird hole in the wall video store. You know, they're that one that has the good cult section.

[:

[00:11:59] Frank Roll III: I've mentioned it before, but that one blockbuster in our area in northwest Austin that had a faces of death. Yeah. Like what the

[:

[00:12:15] Scott Moran: Oh, definitely. Even though some of those, uh, anthology series they've put out, they were hit or miss. I

[:

[00:12:26] Scott Moran: like, was it into the dark? Hulu movies. They're movies. They're feature length movies, but they're like a lifetime horror movie.

[:

[00:12:46] Frank Roll III: oh, uh, was it Pocky? It was like Pocky, Pook, Pooky.

[:

[00:13:03] Frank Roll III: I you, that's one where you could eat the whole box. You

[:

[00:13:06] Scott Moran: I

[:

[00:13:11] Scott Moran: so. So today we watched Infinity Pool.

[:

[00:13:17] Scott Moran: in Infinity Pool? There was no candy in Infinity Pool. Was there not?

[:

[00:13:23] Scott Moran: Not a single fucking piece. So Cronenberg, let's talk about, this is my second time watching Infinity Pool.

[:

[00:13:34] Scott Moran: he's seen it. Yeah. But I wanted to watch it again. I think this is a movie that begs you to watch it a second time. I think this movie was funnier the second time. Oh, and we're not talking about regular kronenberg, little kronenberg freaking laser beam.

[:

[00:13:56] Frank Roll III: It was definitely a, I didn't know it was gonna go so hard, that shit, it was hard Went.

[:

[00:14:11] Frank Roll III: something I wanna say, but I'm gonna save it for later. It's just too much right out, right, you know, out the gate.

[:

[00:14:19] Scott Moran: interesting. I liked it a lot. The first time I liked it even more. The second time I very much enjoyed this movie. I thought it was funny. I thought it was, uh, very uncomfortable. I also like, I really, really liked the way the main character kind of wobbled.

[:

[00:14:45] Frank Roll III: bit. You want to, but then you're like, why is he making

[:

[00:14:54] Scott Moran: That guy's fucking boring. Yeah. This guy. It's not boring. He has many things boring. He is not. Um,

[:

[00:15:14] Frank Roll III: Doesn't matter what a. You know, somebody else is saying how people review it. But this one, as soon as I was done, I wanted to understand what I was supposed to be feeling at the end if there was such a thing or the consensus, you know what I mean? I wanted direction 'cause I was

[:

[00:15:35] Scott Moran: Feelings. Mm-hmm. Because I don't, I also read some reviews. Well, and I found

[:

[00:15:44] Scott Moran: some of those

[:

[00:15:50] Frank Roll III: 'cause I'm good with how I feel about it, what I've decided. You

[:

[00:16:01] Frank Roll III: I don't. No, I mean, in the right

[:

[00:16:09] Frank Roll III: thing is now I'm less likely to watch a lot because of the, the mass amount of, you know, the, the choices that we have.

[:

[00:16:19] Scott Moran: mean how many Oh, like the amount of movies that are around? Yeah. Yeah. It's harder to rewatch things and so sometimes there's so much more out there. There's something good that I want to talk to you about. Mm-hmm. Like that's why I wanna do it on the podcast, is because it's a good reason to rewatch a movie.

[:

[00:16:42] Frank Roll III: your second watch, had you already looked up those things like what people thought about the ending?

[:

[00:16:48] Scott Moran: No. I went until I was done with both. Yeah. You could say after both with watches. I didn't, I didn't read until I started putting this episode together. That's always the first time I look at reviews. Okay. I I never go into a movie with preconceived other people's notions of the movie. Yeah.

[:

[00:17:06] Frank Roll III: And the, just the different movies that you can pick from right now. There's just such broad, you know, movies are, the selection is endless right now, but I would, I would, I wouldn't say no. It's fucking weird, man. It's a weird movie. It's different. And I got vibes from several different movies while watching it.

[:

[00:17:33] Scott Moran: about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I'm stop, I'm stopping now. So for anyone who, uh, needs a summary, There's some spoilers in the summary.

[:

[00:17:46] Frank Roll III: me with my own like storytelling, as I develop my own stories, I watch a movie, this one. And like you're saying, there were parts that were funny, really funny,

[:

[00:18:01] Scott Moran: Who else laughed too? I almost

[:

[00:18:21] Frank Roll III: That's

[:

[00:18:24] Frank Roll III: And at this point I'm just like, look, if Mia Goth is in it, you better know what you're

[:

[00:18:35] Scott Moran: So the only really fun piece of trivia I found about this movie was. Robert Pattinson was originally supposed to be cast as the main character. Really? Yes, but he didn't have time. Hold on.

[:

[00:18:52] Scott Moran: Skarsgard, yeah. Read the thing. Skarsgard. Tell me about the

[:

[00:18:57] Frank Roll III: Let's do this. Let's do this. We're high energy here. We're fucking high energy. Oh yeah.

[:

[00:19:04] Frank Roll III: Yeah. In the fictional seaside country of Latoka, James Foster and his wife, em stay at an all-inclusive resort. James is an author whose first and only novel received little notice, and his second is still unwritten and overdue.

[:

[00:19:29] Scott Moran: You sense the tension between them?

[:

[00:19:33] Frank Roll III: And it fucked me up. 'cause I thought he was gonna be with MGO at the beginning. The tension between the couple only worsens when they have dinner with Gabby, a fan of James' book and her husband Alban Alban. I thought he was sketchy as fuck. He reminded me of like one of the weird dudes from hostel.

[:

[00:20:01] Frank Roll III: On their drunken trip, James runs over a local man and is arrested. The penalty for his crime is death at the hands of the victim's firstborn son. He can pay a hefty fucking fee to have himself cloned memories and all and witness his clones

[:

[00:20:17] Frank Roll III: terrifying. It took me a moment to grasp at the very beginning, 'cause I'm like, well, is this real?

[:

[00:20:26] Scott Moran: fuck? And I feel like the way it's presented scratches your brain. Yeah. As it does it. Like it claw its way in. You're trying to

[:

[00:20:34] Scott Moran: confused as he

[:

[00:20:35] Frank Roll III: Mm-hmm. And then there's something that they acknowledge later. James and Em agree to pay, but em is horrified by James's lack of reaction to the execution and wants to fly home immediately. However, dude, uh, James is fascinated by the spectacle and claims to have lost his passport. He seemed a little out of it, but it did seem.

[:

[00:21:02] Scott Moran: fucking orgy. It's one of my favorite sex scenes in a movie, ever. It, uh,

[:

[00:21:12] Frank Roll III: Just

[:

[00:21:36] Scott Moran: Moin. Call me Bob Jeff Ricketts as Charles Caroline Bolton as Becks and Thomas Kitman as Detective Thresh who. Looked so familiar to me. He did. He's a, he's been in some stuff.

[:

[00:21:52] Scott Moran: Definitely a Nazi doctor type.

[:

[00:22:00] Frank Roll III: The film

[:

[00:22:25] Scott Moran: Crimes of the Future. Get the episode at the last video store clerks. But to beat Daddy and then to put this out, and I've seen all of Brandon Cronenberg's movies now, and he's getting better at making them. This movie felt more formed than possessor and, uh, antiviral. I don't know that I liked it that

[:

[00:22:47] Frank Roll III: Well, weird story. I feel like I've seen the other ones, like I've never seen them, but they've been on Hulu. For sure. You know what I mean? I was like, well, what exactly has he done? 'cause I just didn't know off the top of my head. I was like, oh, I've seen the cover, but I haven't watched it. Like, oh, and I've seen the cover, haven't

[:

[00:23:01] Scott Moran: You know, I would say Watch possessor. Antiviral,

[:

[00:23:07] Scott Moran: Possessor is visually like this movie

[:

[00:23:13] Scott Moran: a hard one to pull the trigger

[:

[00:23:18] Scott Moran: and I've yet to hit it.

[:

[00:23:36] Scott Moran: I think Brandon Cronenberg has like an idea of what he wants to do, and each movie is getting a little bit closer to that. This one I think is as far as I'm concerned. Perfect. I thought this was a perfect, weird movie. It was. It also didn't bore me at all. No. And it could have, yeah. Easily stepped over that line.

[:

[00:23:57] Frank Roll III: expecting something else that never happened.

[:

shit

[:

[00:24:11] Scott Moran: rich people doing. Yeah, you kind of do. But I think because you're in with this guy who thinks he's a rich guy, But also knows he isn't, and that's the character's back and forth, is he's dealing with mediocrity that he married into thinking higher of himself than he should, and his marriage is kind of not.

[:

[00:24:33] Frank Roll III: No, I mean, I'm sure you know fireworks in the beginning, but what he said 10 years, they'd been together 10 years. The flame was running

[:

[00:24:44] Frank Roll III: dinner. Was it dinner? Yeah. The first dinner at the Chinese restaurant, they

[:

[00:24:48] Scott Moran: She'd been waiting six years for his next book to come, is what she tells him. I think he also, the movie is just long enough to where he reiterated information that was important, and he did it really tactfully later on without making you feel like he was pointing like, oh, I've written something too complicated for you to understand.

[:

[00:25:18] Frank Roll III: Just 'cause of, I knew like who was in it. That was the one thing that was throwing me off. I kept trying to jump ahead on that and I'm like, just quit it.

[:

[00:25:27] Scott Moran: trailer was unfold, was not very revealing. Not at all of the plot of the movie. It simply showed you like, this is gonna be weird.

[:

[00:25:45] Frank Roll III: You know, the guy tearing it up at the resort on the A T V,

[:

[00:26:14] Scott Moran: Mm-hmm. Uh, was that his cousin? Yeah. And the fact that he pointed it out a second time, like I noticed the first time, but then when he like drew attention to it, I was like, well, wait a minute. No one's supposed to leave the resort, but someone with your fucking last name rented doing it. This guy, a car earlier and I rewound to see if it was the same guy and they don't really show him the first time, so maybe purposefully, but I couldn't track it backwards.

[:

[00:26:53] Frank Roll III: His first meeting with, uh, with Gabby at the four-wheeler, you knew it was gonna get wild.

[:

[00:27:06] Scott Moran: I. Maybe she just looked up this guy's one book,

[:

[00:27:14] Scott Moran: salesman guy. He had untrustworthy teeth, you know what I mean? Like there were a little gap too. They stuck out a little bit. The smile was a little too crazy. Yeah. The tattoos, yeah, there were untrustworthy tattoos.

[:

[00:27:30] Frank Roll III: And I felt like the tattoos didn't. Match a man who was supposed to be of that stature, that lifestyle, like his tattoos were a little more hardcore than who he was supposed to be. I felt

[:

[00:27:41] Scott Moran: The art of acting like she couldn't do, like failing. She perfected failing. Perfected failing. Yeah. Oh, man. And the way she does it too, you're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, you did.

[:

[00:28:04] Frank Roll III: You wanna fuck my husband? I feel it from here. She knew what was up. I felt bad for M Man. You know, character

[:

[00:28:11] Frank Roll III: under the stick. Dude. M was just like, you know, like she's paying for everything. They'd been together for a while, you know, on paper they should have been a good couple.

[:

[00:28:21] Scott Moran: What was weird was, that was making me think of the Eat the Rich movie. His father made cosmos, which was not very good. But, uh, the wife in that also kind of feels like m. In a way. Yeah. You know, she's just kind of the innocent bystander. You don't feel super bad for her 'cause she's this mega rich woman, you know?

[:

[00:28:58] Scott Moran: The execution.

[:

[00:28:59] Scott Moran: parties involved, any whoever

[:

[00:29:04] Scott Moran: Yeah. So you know what, and so Gabby, and they, they said they, they

[:

[00:29:15] Frank Roll III: So by the

[:

[00:29:21] Frank Roll III: Mm-hmm. And did we make it clear that they're cloning? I just want to emphasize again, like when you fuck up. You can pay to get cloned and

[:

[00:29:38] Frank Roll III: I felt like I was at the chocolate factory, dude. Like, you know what I mean? Like we were going down the chocolate

[:

[00:29:57] Scott Moran: Oh, but really? But it went from like, Him being like stony and freaked out and just kind of in shock. Mm-hmm. To fascination. Yes.

[:

[00:30:07] Scott Moran: Did you feel a little bit like Gabby saw that in him and maybe set him up for this? What was with the headlights? When he was driving. Yes, yes. That's where I'm like, conspiracy starts to creep into my brain.

[:

[00:30:33] Scott Moran: there. No, no, no.

[:

[00:30:37] Frank Roll III: She does say, Gabby does say later, like, we didn't even have you fucked up

[:

[00:30:45] Frank Roll III: I think he was just in shock from the awkward hand job.

[:

[00:30:53] Scott Moran: They were,

[:

[00:30:57] Scott Moran: pissing. There's an NC 17 cut of this movie, apparently, but I read about it. It's just Dick. It's fake Dick. They cut out of it like silicone Mark Wahlberg penis. No way. That's what they cut out. And then there was some more shots of Come On the Rock.

[:

[00:31:14] Frank Roll III: they showed any, normally a mainstream video service, you're not seeing the actual The Love juice. Yeah.

[:

[00:31:36] Scott Moran: Exactly. Like a, like an oversized clitoris.

[:

[00:31:44] Scott Moran: four inch clit and it was real too. Yeah. That guy was, he got

[:

[00:31:51] Scott Moran: form. Yeah, from, it's probably just some guy in Budapest they hired.

[:

[00:32:05] Frank Roll III: showed him hide it. They showed him find

[:

[00:32:09] Frank Roll III: later on, but the end, he does it so fast.

[:

[00:32:15] Scott Moran: the whole time, but I, I felt like the first time that I knew that that was the case, it was the way he was looking for his passport. I thought being like, I don't know where it is. I didn't

[:

[00:32:26] Frank Roll III: I didn't think it was the crooked police. I thought it was Alden and Gabby

[:

[00:32:37] Frank Roll III: That's what I assumed he hid it because yeah, Emma's ready to bail. But like you were saying earlier, this man wanted to have

[:

[00:32:46] Scott Moran: He came for inspiration.

[:

[00:32:54] Scott Moran: like, well, Gabby might've been very crazy. Very, very crazy. But she's not wrong about what he came for and that she gave it

[:

[00:33:10] Frank Roll III: Where they get mixed up. But they did acknowledge the mix up thought process. The doctor, the first meet of the, uh, I don't know, dude. First meet of the, what? I was trying to think of what to call 'em. The, the elites. Their first little hangout where M is poor. M She's like freaking out in the hotel room. He goes to have drinks with the fucking crazy people.

[:

[00:33:37] Scott Moran: Yeah, maybe a little bit. I knew that there was something more to all that, and then there were things that made me doubt it because like they broke into the gift shop to steal those masks.

[:

[00:33:56] Frank Roll III: the good Shop got a shout out at the beginning. Yeah, you can get the masks in. They told

[:

[00:34:00] Scott Moran: And I

want

[:

[00:34:05] Scott Moran: about? Yeah, the one with the coins was good. The one he Alexander Skarsgard wears. Yeah, they smoke in the cigar. Mm-hmm. That one

[:

[00:34:14] Frank Roll III: The one with all the little beaty spots, like the pores or what? That one just creeped me the fuck out. That one freaks me out, really? Because I think that's the first one you see when the band is playing or whatever,

[:

[00:34:27] Frank Roll III: that's the fucking

[:

[00:34:29] Scott Moran: They really said the rains are coming. I did really appreciate that. The first thing the doctor brings up is like, what if they. Killed you because it's like the, uh, that's what I'm saying, the acknowledgement

[:

[00:34:42] Scott Moran: It's the, it's the transporter thing that's fucked with me since childhood.

[:

[00:34:56] Frank Roll III: I've ever thought of it like that. Why'd you do that to me? Fucked me up my

[:

[00:35:01] Frank Roll III: God damn it. I've never thought of it like

[:

[00:35:03] Scott Moran: But that is the existential problem we have in this movie is what if that first you, what if this is the 12th Gabby? Mm-hmm. You know, and then you got that when they're all in the room and they're demanding that they've been waiting for too long. And then you realize it's a room full of clones, but is it, they're all wearing fucking hospital gowns.

[:

[00:35:22] Frank Roll III: though, right there. I liked it. I thought about it, but I was like, nah. And then it ha I was like, ah.

[:

[00:35:36] Scott Moran: Time, yeah. Pans out and they're in the stands, it starts to be like not a big deal. Mm-hmm. Like the way they slit everyone's throat, it looks very, oh, it's, it's not that. Well, and they were

[:

[00:35:52] Frank Roll III: I feel like at that point it's still not 100% clear. Like you may still be doubting. Yeah.

[:

[00:36:05] Frank Roll III: And again, we're in a world where like the fact that this procedure's not being questioned in itself. You know what I mean? Like, oh my God, they're cloning us. Like it's kinda like, oh yeah, well, fuck yeah. Where's the a t m with the weird soldier standing next to me while I get my local currency out?

[:

[00:36:22] Scott Moran: Yeah, and I mean, at that point, who stocks that? A tmm?

[:

[00:36:31] Scott Moran: in there. Better fill it back up again. So it just pulled out $8 million. We

[:

[00:36:36] Scott Moran: money over here, guys.

[:

[00:36:46] Frank Roll III: does make a clone of God, I forgot his name. Of James. Of James, yeah. Yeah. For for

[:

[00:36:54] Frank Roll III: Okay. Like, you guys

[:

[00:36:55] Scott Moran: Sure. Oh yeah, no problem. Yeah.

[:

[00:37:01] Scott Moran: it. Yeah. And that old switcheroo, really, I didn't see that coming.

[:

[00:37:07] Scott Moran: The bag was on the head too long. That's when I started to realize I

[:

[00:37:13] Frank Roll III: I was like, is that M?

[:

[00:37:31] Scott Moran: And he, he uses it to great effect instead of, there's people who would, you know, do the opposite of it. Do the Charlize Theron monster thing. I'm so beautiful, now I'm gonna be the ugliest person. But he never does that. He's like, I'm beautiful and I'm gonna do this completely like, Dog collar shit. Yeah, like

[:

[00:37:48] Frank Roll III: Like just the facial expression. The, yeah, the neck things. I don't

[:

[00:37:53] Frank Roll III: What are those called? What are the things that go from like the upper chest to like the ch you know, up

[:

[00:37:57] Frank Roll III: tendons. Those were little tendons. Ugh. His were out and fucking

[:

[00:38:01] Scott Moran: Yeah, those Skarsgard tendons are

[:

[00:38:13] Scott Moran: rich people games. I also feel like it's been a while since we've watched a movie, or even I've watched a movie period, that the arc of the beginning of the movie is down, that it gets worse and worse and worse, and once you hit the middle, it starts to go back up again.

[:

[00:38:44] Frank Roll III: off, but kind of like touching feet and legs, but not really like a foot fetish.

[:

[00:38:51] Scott Moran: yeah. It kind of makes the, like the untrustworthy smile makes sense that he's like this fucking floor cook, you know? Yeah. Man. Floor cook. Nice. Yeah. I'm a little worm. A little worm boy.

[:

[00:39:09] Frank Roll III: That's

[:

[00:39:13] Frank Roll III: root though, man.

[:

[00:39:24] Frank Roll III: Like what was up with like a what? Like the tree sat breast. Let's call it the reap nip.

[:

[00:39:31] Scott Moran: that nipple.

[:

[00:39:45] Frank Roll III: I'm seeing that more and more in these mainstream

[:

[00:39:51] Frank Roll III: do that for. Yeah. A lot of people are like, oh, that's too taboo. Like, oh, I don't know. Like the jizz on the rocks. Yeah, I wanna

[:

[00:39:58] Scott Moran: I'm the guy who's saying right now, let's clone human beings. Let's do it in real life. Zero to

[:

[00:40:06] Scott Moran: just fucking boom. I mean, it goes all the way there because they take him off the bus when he tries to leave and he gets freaked out by his double being the. The detective and it's all just a fun joke.

[:

[00:40:25] Frank Roll III: fuck with him. He's having his worst moment. And they're like, he's tripping shit up there. Like, fuck they beating the shit outta myself and they're just laughing at me.

[:

[00:40:35] Scott Moran: I like how he's like full JG Ballard Cocaine Knight leaving with his hat on, dressed as like a rich guy again earlier in

[:

[00:40:52] Scott Moran: Maybe he's

[:

[00:40:58] Scott Moran: Sorry. It's the magic of Hollywood. It is in Budapest, and if

[:

[00:41:09] Frank Roll III: But yeah. Yeah, no, he tries to get away and they pull up all like, ah, like Mad Max, like fucking the bikers dude.

[:

[00:41:27] Frank Roll III: does full on crazy. Like, full on, this is the chick.

[:

[00:41:33] Scott Moran: She's fucking amazing. I cannot believe the acting chops on this woman.

[:

[00:41:41] Scott Moran: she's in high life and she's very different in every fucking movie. Well, I'll watch High Life if you had told me that she was in it before I.

[:

[00:41:57] Frank Roll III: oh, maybe it caught you off guard. 'cause I finally brought up that she was in it just now. Tonight? Yes. This

[:

[00:42:06] Scott Moran: Oh fuck. Hold on.

[:

[00:42:11] Scott Moran: This is how you lose the time war. But it goes all the way once we finally get to where he has to beat his own self to death canine version. But still, that's the, that's the dual thing. The double's

[:

[00:42:30] Frank Roll III: That root dab. Mm-hmm. That root dab. That root dab dude smear that shit on there. Smoke it up,

[:

[00:42:46] Scott Moran: No way. And he did that for an event, badass. That's why I like that guy. He's the sense of humor about himself. He's cool. He's not a typical handsome man. What is it? The northman? Yeah.

[:

[00:43:03] Frank Roll III: I took a step. I'm closer. I told you it would

[:

[00:43:10] Frank Roll III: breast after the

[:

[00:43:15] Frank Roll III: Yeah. And again, one of those things that used to be in the hard to find of horror, thriller, psychotic fucking movies out there, it was

[:

[00:43:25] Frank Roll III: like me, myself, and Irene.

[:

[00:43:29] Frank Roll III: as fun. I know it was definitely not the same feel as me myself, but

[:

[00:43:39] Frank Roll III: to normal when everybody's on the shuttle and they've, I guess he passed his test or he was enough fun, or maybe they just hit end of season.

[:

[00:43:48] Scott Moran: like, well, fuck, we gotta get back. The drawbridge is going

[:

[00:44:03] Frank Roll III: She's done with him nothing

[:

[00:44:16] Frank Roll III: So yes, I had to look it up immediately after the movie.

[:

[00:44:22] Scott Moran: like, let's, you had to look what up, exactly what

[:

[00:44:26] Scott Moran: you looked up what you should feel about the end. What,

[:

[00:44:34] Scott Moran: meant. What did and what conclusion have you come to the

[:

[00:44:38] Scott Moran: Was No what? Which one have you come to? I like that you're a movie reviewer too, Frank.

[:

[00:44:50] Scott Moran: didn't really belong. He didn't. That's what gave me empathy for this character. He

[:

[00:45:01] Scott Moran: Yeah. And he was never gonna get there.

[:

[00:45:08] Scott Moran: I mean? Maybe a little bit. Yeah. He went through some shit. And even though, well, I think that was probably the problem with his book was he had, it was, he was a man who had never experienced any sort of mm-hmm.

[:

[00:45:21] Frank Roll III: yeah. Well, I mean, when you're, when everything is this intense, all these realizations, all this, like these happenings, You can't go back to fucking going and getting coffee. Yeah. Yeah. Like these

[:

[00:45:36] Scott Moran: Even if they took

[:

[00:45:54] Scott Moran: from this movie.

[:

[00:46:00] Frank Roll III: ambiguous. Well see. They're saying there was a whole, there's, did you read anything on that one?

[:

[00:46:13] Frank Roll III: good with like, He finally was alive, and so you can't leave there.

[:

[00:46:26] Frank Roll III: him being the, because there was this, there's a whole thing. Several different theories that kind of spin off from that. But after the initial clone, that first time was a fuck up.

[:

[00:46:38] Scott Moran: was him. Well, I mean that could very well be. And

[:

[00:46:52] Frank Roll III: So somewhere deep in there, but that's the direction that you could say a group of people were taking this.

[:

[00:47:02] Frank Roll III: And like I said, we've looked up things like this for movies here and there, but most of the time there's movie, there were movies that I saw and it was just like, well, let's see what you know, went on.

[:

[00:47:17] Scott Moran: leave? I like this movie very much. It was good. It's gonna live in my head.

[:

[00:47:23] Scott Moran: I'd watch it again. I think you should, because you'll see things that you didn't see the first time.

[:

[00:47:29] Frank Roll III: let my brain stray as much if I were to do it again. You know what? I would be trying to second

[:

[00:47:37] Frank Roll III: But when they're having a great time, man, like after the orgy night, they're having breakfast the next morning.

[:

[00:47:54] Scott Moran: Yeah. Fantastic movie. I can't wait to see the next Brandon Kronenberg movie.

[:

[00:48:03] Frank Roll III: sense to put that extra six shit out there. And I'm not in a bad way. Just, damn. We need it. Yeah. Let's get past the, the norm on some of these things. Brandon

[:

[00:48:16] Scott Moran: A lot of people don't. Mm-hmm. I think there were, there. There are a lot of things you can call body horror. This wasn't just a body horror movie, it was also an existentially terrifying body horror movie. The way the fly was, or the way, you know, let's put this. A lot of his dad's work has that aspect of like, how am I not myself?

[:

[00:48:49] Frank Roll III: Yeah, I mean to your average movie watcher living in a PG 13 world, this will get you outta your comfort zone. Yeah, grow the fuck up. Watch this. This will get you outta your comfort zone quick, man. It's that shit you used to get on D V D through the mail from

[:

[00:49:05] Scott Moran: We've been talking about watching since. The very first episodes of this podcast, Becky. Becky, next week. Becky. Becky. Man, we need to do a mini too. We'll find something. Things are slowing down and things may turn into nothing. Eventually, we may have nothing new. We'll have time to go back and watch all the things we missed, because they're gonna put all the writers outta work.

[:

[00:49:33] Frank Roll III: And if do you know? We wait long enough. I'm, I'm gonna get to see Wild Hogs.

[:

[00:49:41] Frank Roll III: did you know that Tim Allen was a conservative? Yeah,

[:
