Welcome to the show.

Speaker A:It's time for truth.
Speaker A:This is the place for tools, power, and real talk, so you can create the life you dream and deserve your ultimate life.
Speaker A:Subscribe, share, create.
Speaker A:You have infinite power.
Speaker A:Hi there.
Speaker A:Welcome to your ultimate life today.
Speaker A:Love being with you.
Speaker A:Love the podcast format because several reasons.
Speaker A:One, it makes me think all the time about what can I give you?
Speaker A:Because, you know, podcasts.
Speaker A:We don't sell podcasts.
Speaker A:They're free and they're everywhere.
Speaker A:And now I love that because, you know, my commitment this year is to reach 300 million people.
Speaker A:My year started 10 days ago to reach 300 million people.
Speaker A:To do what?
Speaker A:Well, to give you a message.
Speaker A:The message is this really simple.
Speaker A:You can have the wealth and impact in the world you want to have if you're willing to do the work, and if you start with the raw materials of your skills that you've developed, the gifts that you naturally have, and you know you have them, and weave in the most important thing, which is your life experience.
Speaker A:Because it's our life experience that gives us the insight, the maturity, the wisdom, and generates the power.
Speaker A:So I'll give you an example.
Speaker A:I had a friend who quit smoking.
Speaker A:This is in the 80s.
Speaker A:And after that, it's notorious that ex smokers are the worst for complaining about smoke.
Speaker A:And that may be true, and maybe it's because of their previous addiction and so they don't want to be around it, but they're also really good at helping others have the motivation and power to quit.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because they.
Speaker A:They have overcome this.
Speaker A:They have done this.
Speaker A:The 12 step program works the same.
Speaker A:I have a dear friend.
Speaker A:A dear.
Speaker A:It's not a friend.
Speaker A:Relative.
Speaker A:A dear relative who right this minute is active as a sponsor in the 12 step program groups that they belong to.
Speaker A:What is that?
Speaker A:Well, our ability to love and serve depends on our willingness to serve.
Speaker A:So this particular individual not only use the process of 12 steps to eliminate addictions that they had and that were wrecking their life, and is now serving lovingly, fiercely, busily as a sponsor to others.
Speaker A:So that the life experience portion, your triple Helix, is the skills that you've developed.
Speaker A:Maybe you've been selling in the marketplace, maybe you went to college, trade school, whatever, but skills that you've got, gifts that you have which augment and make your skills more valuable, and then your life experience, which often provides the engine.
Speaker A:Now, you've heard all that before.
Speaker A:If you've listened to other episodes and if you haven't Go back and find the one on the Triple Helix.
Speaker A:The Triple Helix.
Speaker A:Because people tell me all the time I don't know what to do.
Speaker A:I don't know what my passion is.
Speaker A:I don't know what my calling is or similar words.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:Well, here's the truth.
Speaker A:You have one.
Speaker A:I don't know if you know what it is, if you feel it, if you doubt it, or if you've discovered it, but you have it.
Speaker A:And the reason that's important is because when you latch on to that, it's fun and easy to stay motivated and focused on what you're trying to do.
Speaker A:Now, a mistake that I made when I found I didn't find it, discovered, declared my own purpose, was that I expected everything to be easy and cash to come flowing in because I've found my purpose.
Speaker A:Things grow at the speed they grow.
Speaker A:And finding our purpose, especially using that power of our life experience, helps us stay motivated, focused and engaged.
Speaker A:But it doesn't guarantee results.
Speaker A:In any particular timeframe, I learned that the universe or God or the divine, I call him my heavenly Father, but God works on his own timeframe.
Speaker A:Like, I don't decide the timeframe and the manner of the growth.
Speaker A:The size and timing is not all up to me by any stretch.
Speaker A:And making my peace with that gave me really peace.
Speaker A:Making my peace with that truth gave me internal peace and gives power to the peace of my PTAC that says I am become complete inner peace.
Speaker A:I have no nothing but peace in my life from first breath to last.
Speaker A:Every day.
Speaker A:I am completely present in each moment, guided by spirit, free, unattached, and loving.
Speaker A:What is.
Speaker A:Those two statements are hard fought, at least for me.
Speaker A:They were hard fought, hard to come by.
Speaker A:But now that I have them, it makes life joyful every day.
Speaker A:So today, what I want to talk about is not.
Speaker A:That's a setup.
Speaker A:That's sort of the basket in which we're going to get to this.
Speaker A:And I named this episode Small and Simple Things because we live in a world where it feels like you got to do these gigantic grandiose moves.
Speaker A:We have enshrined that principle and the idea of take massive action.
Speaker A:Well, there's nothing wrong with big action.
Speaker A:And I think we should.
Speaker A:In fact, the group that I belong to, one of the leaders in that group says devote an hour every week to just taking some big move.
Speaker A:She called it the big move hour.
Speaker A:One big move that if it works, will change the game completely.
Speaker A:Well, I love that idea.
Speaker A:What's a big move that's in the massive Action thing.
Speaker A:And we're not going to talk about big moves today.
Speaker A:That might be a great topic for another.
Speaker A:Another episode about what are big moves?
Speaker A:How do you find them, how do you take them?
Speaker A:And how do you be content or not wrecked if and how they don't do exactly what you want?
Speaker A:That's another episode.
Speaker A:Today I want to talk about the other kind of action that is guaranteed.
Speaker A:Big moves are not guaranteed.
Speaker A:What we're going to talk about today is guaranteed to produce results for you.
Speaker A:Guaranteed small and simple steps.
Speaker A:So not dissing the principle of massive action.
Speaker A:But that's a different topic today we're going to talk about small and simple steps.
Speaker A:And I want to tell you a story.
Speaker A:When I was a kid, we had a record.
Speaker A:Remember record players and vinyl, you know, you may not remember those, depending on your age, but we had a record.
Speaker A:And the entire record on both sides was a fellow named Danny K.
Speaker A:And he was a.
Speaker A:An actor, comedian and a stage performer.
Speaker A:Vaudeville even of quite some time ago, many years ago.
Speaker A:So he was already older when I was a kid.
Speaker A:So he's long dead.
Speaker A:But anyway, he was a good storyteller.
Speaker A:And the whole record on both sides were stories, folk stories and all kinds of stuff.
Speaker A:And I remember them because we used to listen.
Speaker A:I used to love to just put that record on and listen to him tell the stories.
Speaker A:And there were three or four on each side.
Speaker A:It's a fabulous memory, the stories from growing up.
Speaker A:I love the stories and the morals and stuff.
Speaker A:One of them was called the Name of the Tree.
Speaker A:The Name of the Tree.
Speaker A:And it told a story about in a desert village.
Speaker A:It may have been set in Africa, but I don't remember.
Speaker A:Jungle, not desert jungle, I think.
Speaker A:But anyway, there was a tree and there were all the animals around the tree and the animals depended on the tree for fruit.
Speaker A:And it was not like a normal tree.
Speaker A:It had all kinds of fruit, of flavors, and provided food and sustenance, you know, for the animals.
Speaker A:And so every year the chief of the animals, it didn't say if it was a lion or not, but whatever would say the name of the tree.
Speaker A:And when he said the name of the tree, all the fruit would fall.
Speaker A:Now something happened and the chief suddenly died before he was able to pass on the name of the tree to the next person in line.
Speaker A:So it got to be, you know, really concerning.
Speaker A:Nobody could say the tree's name.
Speaker A:And so the fruit didn't fall.
Speaker A:So the village got together to have a council and they decided, you know, who are we going to send.
Speaker A:Because the only way they could get the name of the tree was to go talk to some mysterious chief over the mountain.
Speaker A:Ooh.
Speaker A:And it was, you know, very mysterious and far journey and everything.
Speaker A:So they sent one animal, I can't remember which one.
Speaker A:It was a fox because he was clever and he got sidetracked chasing other animals and so came back and couldn't remember the name of the tree.
Speaker A:I was getting really desperate.
Speaker A:So they also sent the tortoise, or not the tortoise, but the hare, the, you know, rabbit, because really fast.
Speaker A:So off he went and the rabbit came.
Speaker A:He tripped on the way back and banged his head, couldn't remember the name of the tree.
Speaker A:So the tortoise said, I'll go.
Speaker A:And everybody laughed their butts off, right?
Speaker A:Ha ha, ha.
Speaker A:You'll never make it.
Speaker A:You'll never remember.
Speaker A:It's too slow.
Speaker A:But they decided, you know, the others have failed.
Speaker A:So they went, they went, the tortoise went long, arduous journey, got to the chief under the mountain.
Speaker A:On the record, it had all this rumbling.
Speaker A:What is the name of the tree?
Speaker A:And the chief under the mountain said, that tree is called Uwangalema.
Speaker A:And the tortoise said, uwangalema.
Speaker A:O Angalema.
Speaker A:O Angalema.
Speaker A:I'll repeat it all the way home.
Speaker A:So the tortoise starts on the way home and repeating the tree, all the way home, all the way on the way.
Speaker A:And it got hot in the day and it was, you know, someone said, you know, it's really hot.
Speaker A:Why don't you stop and rest?
Speaker A:And the tortoise looked up and said, uwangalema.
Speaker A:And kept moving on.
Speaker A:And it was thirsty.
Speaker A:And someone said, go over here, you know, some other temptation or reason to stop.
Speaker A:And u Angalema.
Speaker A:And he kept going all the way, kept repeating, repeating.
Speaker A:And of course, the moral of the story is he got all the way home.
Speaker A:And everybody said, tell us the name.
Speaker A:Tell us the name of the tree.
Speaker A:All the fruit fell down and fed everybody.
Speaker A:So that was the point.
Speaker A:And of course, the point of the story was that the tortoise wouldn't be deterred by anything.
Speaker A:Heat of day, setbacks, thirst, nothing was going to stop them.
Speaker A:And at every interference, instead of even engaging in conversation about the possible distraction, the tortoise said, oo, Angalema.
Speaker A:And that was his only answer and kept moving.
Speaker A:So this.
Speaker A:And, you know, we know the story of the tortoise and the hare.
Speaker A:The tortoise wins the race eventually because the hare gets sidetracked.
Speaker A:And this was kind of like that.
Speaker A:Although there were three or four animals involved and they failed for different reasons.
Speaker A:The point is really clear.
Speaker A:It is slow and steady.
Speaker A:It is one small step at a time.
Speaker A:It is don't brook any.
Speaker A:Brook is a word that I love means.
Speaker A:Don't accept any internal nonsense, any distractions.
Speaker A:Just don't like you make a choice about what you're doing and like the lesson I've learned, the manner of its manifestation, your goal, the size and the timing.
Speaker A:You know, I started with that thought in terms of prayer.
Speaker A:So I would pray to God.
Speaker A:And sometimes I used to think that prayer and God and stuff is kind of like a cosmic vending machine.
Speaker A:You go make a prayer, and if God's hearing you that day, you'll get cha ching, you'll get your candy bar.
Speaker A:And it isn't.
Speaker A:We do not understand all the intricacies of how the entire eternity scheme works.
Speaker A:Here's what I've learned.
Speaker A:So I'm not going to tell you how to do something, but I'm going to tell you what I've learned and what I do.
Speaker A:What I've learned is I work.
Speaker A:I have a goal.
Speaker A:In this case, my goal is 300 million people this year to help you not just understand that you have the ability to create your ultimate life.
Speaker A:Income, impact, joy, no matter what your circumstance, but also to help you do it.
Speaker A:Podcast episodes.
Speaker A:I've got products, services, the URL on the screen.
Speaker A:Kellenflukegermedia.com Kellenflukegermedia.com Go there.
Speaker A:There's tons of stuff there.
Speaker A:YourUltimate Life ca five master keys to your ultimate life.
Speaker A:Okay, there's just lots of things, but go to kellenfluekigermedia.com and you can see them all.
Speaker A:And you can say, oh, I don't want to buy a book, or I don't want.
Speaker A: years since the end of: Speaker A:I'm now working on my 18th year because it was August that this started and I'm recording this toward the end of October.
Speaker A:It's everything that I have learned.
Speaker A:Books on forgiveness and on results and on how to write books and on Drawn a Blank, My own personal story, Depression and addictions and other struggles.
Speaker A:Books on meditation.
Speaker A:I've got 20, and every one of them is to offer you some help in specifying and taking those small and simple steps.
Speaker A:So my thing about, you know, my learning is the manner of the response of the divine.
Speaker A:The universe.
Speaker A:We all know that when we lean in law of attraction, when we visualize, and when we energetically accept and live in the promise fulfilled.
Speaker A:You know those kinds of phrases, that it really has an impact on others, on circumstances, on energies, and on our own attitude.
Speaker A:All those things conspire to cause things to happen.
Speaker A:But I don't know, we don't know exactly the manner, the size or the timing.
Speaker A:The manner means how the.
Speaker A:How the growth or the blessing or the opportunity will come.
Speaker A:The size, like the manner.
Speaker A:Size and time.
Speaker A:I want a box of gold bars on my porch worth a billion dollars in the morning.
Speaker A:That's manner, size and time.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:It doesn't work like that.
Speaker A:You know it and I know it because of how many times we thought it did.
Speaker A:And it doesn't.
Speaker A:So here's what I've learned.
Speaker A:Just take small and simple steps right now, every day, and keep doing it no matter what.
Speaker A:One more step.
Speaker A:One more step.
Speaker A:Yeah, you got to rest.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You got to take care of the things of life around you.
Speaker A:Somebody gets sick, you got to make some more money over here.
Speaker A:But if you've got a goal, keep going one step.
Speaker A:One step.
Speaker A:And make a choice not to be discouraged.
Speaker A:That was a big bugaboo for me.
Speaker A:Things didn't happen the way I thought they ought to.
Speaker A:Come on, I've done everything.
Speaker A:What's the problem?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:And I got completely comfortable just saying I don't know.
Speaker A:But I'm not stopping, right?
Speaker A:Not stopping.
Speaker A:I'm not stopping no matter what.
Speaker A:All right?
Speaker A:So that's one thing.
Speaker A:Another thing is I want you to think about how growth really happens in the world, okay?
Speaker A:If I plant a tree, depending on the species and everything, it might grow a little bit.
Speaker A:A little bit.
Speaker A:A little bit, A little bit.
Speaker A:And a few years later, there it is.
Speaker A:There's a big tree and a big tree.
Speaker A:You know, when you look at.
Speaker A:Especially if you go out in the countryside and you look at a farmhouse or a ranch house out there surrounded by tall trees, you know, somebody built that thing X years ago, planted all those trees and waited 20 years and didn't worry about it knowing that they were growing, right?
Speaker A:So growth is gradual no matter what.
Speaker A:And I have another little funny story.
Speaker A:About a month ago, a little over, I fell down in the garage.
Speaker A:I went down the steps and didn't see something, kicked the rug or whatever, fell down and I bumped my knee, my left knee.
Speaker A:And I didn't think anything of it.
Speaker A:It wasn't bleeding.
Speaker A:But somehow I did Some damage trauma to the knee underneath.
Speaker A:And then it got infected.
Speaker A:So over the next week, it gradually began to swell up and pretty soon under my kneecap I had this big bump that was about the size of a golf ball under my kneecap, not under it, but down about an inch below my kneecap.
Speaker A:And it was ugly and it was purple and you know, and finally, you know, Joyce saw it and said, you know, that looks infected.
Speaker A:And it didn't feel like when you touched it, like infected things feel.
Speaker A:But I knew something was wrong.
Speaker A:So we went to the doctor and he said clearly infected, infected, infected.
Speaker A:So he gave me a course, 10 day course of really strong antibiotics and because he was considering sending me to the hospital.
Speaker A:And then I went to a naturopath to get an ozone infusion, because I do that thing from time to time, and a Myers cocktail, which is an infusion of vitamins before I go on a trip, make sure I stay healthy, given my medical history.
Speaker A:But anyway, he also lanced the naturopath, took a needle and lanced it and nothing came out.
Speaker A:And we thought, you know, there could be an explosion of infected stuff.
Speaker A:Da, da, da.
Speaker A:And he said, wow, nothing's there.
Speaker A:A little blood came out.
Speaker A:So it wasn't infected in that way.
Speaker A:My point about the structure story is it took three, now four weeks.
Speaker A:Gradually, the 10 day course of antibiotics got over.
Speaker A:Gradually it got smaller and smaller and smaller.
Speaker A:And it's not gone today.
Speaker A:It's a month in counting.
Speaker A:It's still there, noticeably bigger than the, you know, an inch below my right knee, but there it is.
Speaker A:Now, if I had been frustrated with the, with the pace of healing, I could have allowed that to frustrate me and make me have bad days or how come, how come the.
Speaker A:It's going to work so you keep going.
Speaker A:My reaching 300 million people, if I thought it ought to happen a certain way or at a certain trajectory.
Speaker A:Come on, I've done this 100, 200, 300, 500 times.
Speaker A:This is my third year of having a big goal.
Speaker A:How come we haven't reached the hockey stick?
Speaker A:Hey, it is what it is and I'm going to keep doing it.
Speaker A:And so I offer you that as just observations about my own growth, my own life, my coaching practice, the books that I'm writing, the music that I do, and by way of encouragement.
Speaker A:You are divine.
Speaker A:You have gifts and talents.
Speaker A:You have the ability to change the world.
Speaker A:If you want help with any of those, this is exactly what I do.
Speaker A:And it's all I do.
Speaker A:I help you See your divinity, your capability and your possibility.
Speaker A:Then I help you with frameworks and tools that melt barriers, move mountains, mobilize superpowers to eliminate fear and obliterate doubt.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:So you can be who you want to be.
Speaker A:And this is all a little piece of it.
Speaker A:So the gradual process is really important.
Speaker A:I have another couple of examples.
Speaker A:I have a client who runs an import business and it involves him being in Mexico a lot.
Speaker A:So he decided I'm going to learn Spanish because I think it'll help me in my business dealings.
Speaker A:So he started with a little phone app and small and simple things.
Speaker A:Now it is over 2,000 days.
Speaker A:Last time I checked with him, 21, 20, 200.
Speaker A:That's six or seven years or eight years.
Speaker A:Every day a few minutes.
Speaker A:And guess what?
Speaker A:Pretty darn conversant, guess what it's done for his business.
Speaker A:All the Mexican people that are the other end of the business, the import business, they all want to talk to him.
Speaker A:They look forward to him.
Speaker A:He's a celebrity in the little towns.
Speaker A:Everybody knows who he is.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because he speaks to them.
Speaker A:He talks to them, he's with them one day at a time.
Speaker A:And if you're standing at the front of that and you say 2,000 days, seven years, I can never wait that long.
Speaker A:Nonsense.
Speaker A:The seven years or 1,000 days or 2,000, they're going by either way.
Speaker A:What are you going to do with him?
Speaker A:I got another client who does art and he many years ago now took up the thing.
Speaker A:I'm going to do art every day.
Speaker A:And he did over 4,010 years, every day, daily art creation.
Speaker A:It honed his craft, it made him better, et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker A:You get the picture.
Speaker A:We live in a world of everything's got to be instant.
Speaker A:I've got to be able to snap my fingers, download and double click.
Speaker A:Real growth doesn't work like that.
Speaker A:Yes, things happen and a video will go viral.
Speaker A:But you know what I can tell you I have another friend who's not a client, but who runs the largest video YouTube video conference in the world and has for 10 years.
Speaker A:I went to the very first one and then I went to the next seven.
Speaker A:And I was an emcee and met a lot of people, including, you know, Mr.
Speaker A:Beast and folks like that.
Speaker A:What I can tell you is he says and shows person after person that's on the stage in this three day conference, three rooms full of stages.
Speaker A:I mean people after people got to keep going, got to keep going.
Speaker A:Your first hundred videos are going to suck.
Speaker A:They Won't matter then the next hundred.
Speaker A:Gary Vaynerchuk talks about he did a thousand videos video a day for three years before anything even happened.
Speaker A:Now he's, you know, one of the most prominent social media influencers in the world.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because he did a thousand videos, then kept on going.
Speaker A:So you can choose to be discouraged or you can choose to just move in.
Speaker A:And now here's what else I know from that video guy is videos go viral now and then you'll see a funny cat video or someone that catches a moment.
Speaker A:Got plenty of wars and conflicts and the crazy presidential race that's going on in the US right now.
Speaker A:You know, I live in Canada, but I'm a US citizen.
Speaker A:My wife and I are both dual national and we're watching that craziness unfold.
Speaker A:Boy, I can't wait for that to be over.
Speaker A:Elections right quick.
Speaker A:So I'm recording this before, but you won't see it till after the election.
Speaker A:Anyway, my point is this.
Speaker A:There can be a viral video.
Speaker A:People think, oh, if I get that one viral thing, I'm set for life.
Speaker A:No, you're not.
Speaker A:90 plus percent of videos that go viral, for some reason interesting people share, it triggers the algorithm.
Speaker A:Their owners do not make a bunch of money.
Speaker A:They do not follow it up.
Speaker A:Not because they couldn't have.
Speaker A:They don't do the small and simple things afterwards.
Speaker A:The stories of people who had their time on the Oprah show.
Speaker A:You know, they thought, well, if I get on there, I've got it made.
Speaker A:No, they weren't ready.
Speaker A:They didn't do the small and simple things afterwards.
Speaker A:Yeah, they got a flood of attention and phone calls and da, da, da.
Speaker A:But their website, their customer service team, their stuff wasn't ready.
Speaker A:So they went boom.
Speaker A:And then just as quick boom back down.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:The small and simple things weren't done.
Speaker A:You don't want to be that.
Speaker A:So I don't know when your big explosion might take place.
Speaker A:I know that it won't take place unless you do the buildup and the small and simple things.
Speaker A:I know that even if it does happen, if you don't have your foundation in place or I don't, it won't matter because you'll crash and burn just like those folks who have viral videos or have appeared in the past on something like the Oprah show or whatever.
Speaker A:So they got their big hit and boost and then nothing because they weren't ready.
Speaker A:How do you get ready?
Speaker A:You choose your purpose.
Speaker A:You start with the small and simple actions.
Speaker A:My goal of 300 million.
Speaker A:You know there's going to be.
Speaker A:There have been some big boosts in the past and there are going to be more, but I won't be able to use them, capitalize on them to reach more people like you.
Speaker A:Unless I do this, unless I give the videos every day, unless I keep the podcast going, unless I find more guests, unless I keep the reach out.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:So that when it happens, and this is true before and now, so I'm not still waiting, but things have happened, but there's more and bigger because my numbers keep going up and I'm ready and I'm making sure that I'm ready.
Speaker A:And so I'm explaining that the most important thing isn't the big home run.
Speaker A:It is small and simple steps.
Speaker A:Now I'm going to take it out of the business and money making frame and put it in one other frame, and that is your own personal development.
Speaker A:If you've got habits or practices you want to change, small and simple is still the way to go.
Speaker A:12 step people, when they leave every meeting, they say, here's to another 24.
Speaker A:Because they're recognizing that 24 hours is just the right amount of goal, just the right amount of hard.
Speaker A:Nobody says for the rest of my life they're aiming for that, but here's to another 24.
Speaker A:So your goal.
Speaker A:Do you know what your life purpose is?
Speaker A:If you don't, let's talk because I can help you find it.
Speaker A:Do you know what it is?
Speaker A:And you say, I don't know how to do anything about it.
Speaker A:Good.
Speaker A:Let's talk.
Speaker A:Because that's my specialty.
Speaker A:If you've started some things and quit, let's talk.
Speaker A:Because that's my specialty.
Speaker A:If you want to write a book about it, let's talk.
