Shownotes

The “soft” dedication of a mural by Shanah Cooley on a wall at Palmer High School between Boulder Street and Nevada Avenue. August 26, 2020, was the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment – recognizing women’s right to vote. The League of Women Voters of the Pikes Peak Region commissioned this mural to commemorate the movement, the milestone, and this anniversary. The project was delayed due to COVID.

Speakers at this soft dedication include Shelly Roehrs, LWVPPR spokesperson; Laurilea McDaniel, School District 11 Visual & Performing Arts Facilitator; Lara Disney, Palmer High School Principal; Dr. Michael Thomas, School District 11 Superintendent; Beth Malmskog, a director of League of Women Voters of Colorado; jury members Jerima King and June Waller; and the mural artist, Shanah Cooley.

A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for December 10 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Donations to cover the cost of this mural project are still needed. Donate here: https://lwvppr.org/content.aspx?page_id=305&club_id=750758&item_id=8103
