Praise God for you, Christian.
Speaker:It's a great pleasure to connect with you.
Speaker:What part of the world are you in today?
Speaker:I am in Fredericksburg, Virginia today.
Speaker:I am in Virginia.
Speaker:How did you come to meet Jesus?
Speaker:I was born and raised in the church, kind of a generational family of pastors, and so I grew up really, it was like a second nature to know Jesus, so to speak.
Speaker:And the relationship with Christ has grown in countless ways over the years, but knowing him has been seemingly a lifelong journey.
Speaker:How has God's relationship with you as a result of your immediate future been impacted?
Speaker:Say that one more time.
Speaker:I want to answer this with serious clarity.
Speaker:Yeah, sure, no problem.
Speaker:And you can do that as many times as you need to, yeah?
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:How has your relationship with God impacted, as far as your foresight, your future?
Speaker:Just the will of the Lord and staying in the will of the Lord has really shown me the meanings behind past works that I want to not revisit, but explain in further detail using language specifically in the future.
Speaker:So I think just getting stuff revealed, and I believe that some people try to maybe place or do an artwork, so to speak, and they want the meaning immediately, or they want to immediately connect it with something rather than doing it and sitting with it, praying about it, living in a relationship with it and with the Lord, and the revelation will come later.
Speaker:And I think I'm really getting a lot of verbiage, you could say, to those works.
Speaker:It sounds to me, if I had to visually represent what you just said, the difference between cooking at the fireside versus cooking with the microwave.
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:It's a great way to put it.
Speaker:So given the fact that you've seen how your decisions have impacted your future, is there a part of you that says, if I had done this, things would have been so much different in my past?
Speaker:Yeah, if I would have chased monetary gain, going after mammon, so to speak, the personal relationship with the Lord, which would be the most important thing for the human experience, would be nowhere near as strong as a relationship, not even close to as strong as a relationship.
Speaker:I don't want to use the word commercialize, but if I were to be chasing after a check, I'm positive that the relationship with the Lord would not be as strong.
Speaker:Just listening to you, I can feel the energy of what peace means to you in your everyday process, your everyday journey, your everyday thoughts.
Speaker:How are you, or what are you using to ensure that there are checkpoints, that you're not defaulting to decisions that could make you go into everything but peace, or the check, or mammon?
Speaker:That is great.
Speaker:And I think it's something, especially in where I'm at, in the world that I'm in, I believe not only the word, but the usage of Sabbath is not upheld.
Speaker:And that is something that when you do have that 100% pause in the will of the Lord, and not a vacation, and not a day of rest, so to speak, to rest from work, but resting in the Lord, you are able to sharpen your knife to cut off the fat of the animal, so to speak, to really get the flame and yawn.
Speaker:If we're using these cooking references, it's taking that real relationship, silently almost, with the Lord that reveals what to press into and what to stop when it is becoming even the idea of a stumbling block.
Speaker:And I hope that answers your question.
Speaker:Yeah, it does, it does.
Speaker:It's tough.
Speaker:What you're talking about is tough, isn't it?
Speaker:It is tough.
Speaker:It's definitely tough.
Speaker:And I believe when you when you really sit with the word, especially of Christ, there is a peace in those decisions of not following those things.
Speaker:Let's physically put into context who you are, what you're doing, family, life, what surrounds you, for the listener, please.
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:I mean, what we're doing is we are a workshop called Lamb Fabrique, and we are creating a language of freedom with your works or with our works through the lens of Christ.
Speaker:And I can unpack that, but that is what we're doing.
Speaker:Unpack it, please.
Speaker:I'd love to learn more.
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:The question that I've been sitting with is how to do the Great Commission today in the West.
Speaker:And I'm not saying that speaking and preaching directly is at all outdated and it has its place, but we believe that we can make art in a conceptual sense, a language between you and the Lord that transcends the language game, so to speak.
Speaker:And what I mean by that, to make it very at its simplest form, is if you had an encounter with the Lord, a serious encounter that is just between you and the Lord, it was a revelation, it is a testimony.
Speaker:I think sometimes, if I could pause for one second just to elaborate on what I mean by testimony, some people maybe think when you say that word, it just means when I gave my life to the Lord.
Speaker:But we know as believers that we have countless testimonies in our life that sometimes get overlooked or they don't become as foundational as they could be.
Speaker:So what we are really putting forward is if you were to be cooking around the fire and you had an encounter with the Lord, that you could take those objects and create a sculptural piece, for lack of a better word, that becomes a language between you and the Lord directly.
Speaker:Now this artwork, so to speak, or we would remove the word art in this sense to just be a work, would be a language between you and the Lord that go beyond what words can say.
Speaker:Yet, to then put that through the lens of Christ and that experience through the lens of Christ, that work through the lens of Christ, you are then able to share it with others whether you to say words or not is secondary.
Speaker:But the Holy Spirit illuminates and has that lens through Christ to see that work in its truth.
Speaker:That no quote unquote artwork has any validity unless it is viewed through the correct lens of Christ.
Speaker:And we want to have a spark so to speak in the believers to expand the idea of the Great Commission and create a language of freedom between them and the Lord to them, them and them, and then them to others.
Speaker:And I'm sorry if I'm talking too much about that topic, but that is what we are trying to do.
Speaker:No apology required.
Speaker:And what we will do.
Speaker:I mean, I think we are doing it.
Speaker:And it is the best thing that could have ever happened.
Speaker:When did you have an encounter or when did you realize that the first thing you created after your encounter or your experience did exactly what you just mentioned in terms of it being a representation of a spiritual encounter, which in itself be a testimony?
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:I would say my most pivotal encounter to this revelation or task was when I had the Lord lift a oppression for, that's the only word I could think of, from me that was very serious and I was obedient.
Speaker:And I don't know how much I fully believed in Him at the time, but I casted all my suspicions onto Him.
Speaker:And in that still small whisper, in that stillness, I did hear a voice that wasn't mine.
Speaker:And it wasn't the enemy's or anything like that.
Speaker:And it was to just get on my knees and ask Him to see me.
Speaker:And it's very hard, I believe, for a non-believer, a skeptic, even a bit of cynicism, to do that when you're alone.
Speaker:Because I was completely alone and I did this action.
Speaker:And I heard then again to say it out loud.
Speaker:And now you really have to believe.
Speaker:To be on your bed, on your knees, I didn't get on the floor, I'm just in this bed.
Speaker:I'm not in my house, but I'm in this bed.
Speaker:And then I say it audibly and it was very short.
Speaker:It wasn't some long dragged out prayer.
Speaker:And I immediately fell into a deep rest and I woke up.
Speaker:And right when I walked outside, I was in Africa at the time.
Speaker:And the earth was all this red earth.
Speaker:And it was all in the air, it was everywhere.
Speaker:And in that moment, it was an immediate connection to the material of red ochre.
Speaker:And it immediately reminded me of Adam or humanity from the man of red earth.
Speaker:And I believed in that moment a new creation and something that could be molded, something that could have residue, something that could be looked back upon for thousands of years.
Speaker:This all encompassing thing just flooded me.
Speaker:And I've used that material many times and it is a material I will never get tired of.
Speaker:And I could go into the history of the art history of why that material is important.
Speaker:I could go into the biblical history of why that material is important.
Speaker:But there's also, and this is what is important to the individual relationship and language of freedom, is that material, when I see it, all that stuff almost gets bypassed, not saying that it's not important, but it gets bypassed.
Speaker:And I remember when the Lord saw me.
Speaker:I remember when he lifted that oppression.
Speaker:I remember when I was made new and that material has stuck with me and has been a incredible just sign of life.
Speaker:Very cool.
Speaker:Thank you for sharing that.
Speaker:I can tell you as a response in you simply communicating that I felt chills all over my body when you said that you walked out and you saw something after again, being by yourself, listening to the voice and then having an experience that even to this day still resonates.
Speaker:Yes, it does for sure.
Speaker:And we can't forget those.
Speaker:And I want to even encourage you, it could be a year to sit and pray and think that it could be the smallest thing.
Speaker:If I could give you one more example, my father would drive me to school every day.
Speaker:And this is a new work that we are working on.
Speaker:So this isn't even completed yet.
Speaker:So just to show you that it doesn't always have to be such a, you know, that was a life changing encounter.
Speaker:Well, they all kind of are.
Speaker:But another testimony is my father would drive me to school every day and he would pray for me every single day right before he dropped me off.
Speaker:And you don't want to forget these moments that somebody else's obedience with the Lord touched and blessed your life.
Speaker:And that is a testimony that even my father would be doing that every single morning without fail.
Speaker:So I called up a junkyard where that car that I drove to school in is sitting and we are ripping out the seats and we're going to, you know, weld them together, make these almost seats of prayer, prayer seats, so to speak.
Speaker:And these are just reminders and again, a language of thanksgiving that can be dove into for a lifetime, a lifetime they can be just dove into.
Speaker:So I encourage you really to, I would love to see a work that you put out and it could be a fork.
Speaker:We don't have to paint the Mona Lisa, you know, because the craftsman is in heaven.
Speaker:So I would love to see any work that you would put forward and we'd love to show it.
Speaker:Yeah, I appreciate that.
Speaker:The thing that comes to mind is the power of the seed, even with the earth that you're talking about, that is almost a layer and you standing up after kneeling down, but now being that deposit, yeah, that seed that's deposited into this earth and what comes about, you know, what comes from that and it being so unlimited, yeah.
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:And timeless, right?
Speaker:Because even with the car seats, yeah, you're still tapping into something that, you know, came from such of a far past, but still has a relevance with the foundational principle of gratitude and thanksgiving.
Speaker:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker:Yeah, absolutely beautiful.
Speaker:Let me, let me push your mind in this direction.
Speaker:So five years from today, I asked you back onto the podcast.
Speaker:You don't remember exactly what we spoke about.
Speaker:So you go listen to the conversation right here.
Speaker:What's a message you'd leave for future you?
Speaker:Remain in the will of God and the work will work on itself and you should be more spiritually in tune with the ways of the Lord five years from now than I am in this moment.
Speaker:And if I'm not, then I am failing in the call that he has given us.
Speaker:Well, you've been given a name, my friend, and you wear it well.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Christian, this has been a great honor.
Speaker:The only title I want is Christian.
Speaker:It's been a great honor speaking with you.
Speaker:In closing, is there anything else you'd like to I just want to thank you.
Speaker:And I think that this is an amazing idea and amazing.
Speaker:It's amazing that not only is an idea, but you're actually doing the work.
Speaker:And thank you so much.
Speaker:And I'm glad I get to talk with you and understand you more even with your family.
Speaker:And I have questions for you.
Speaker:But I guess we could do that on a separate interview.
Speaker:Maybe I'll have to I'll have to call you one day.
Speaker:Yeah, no problem.
Speaker:You're definitely welcome to do that.
Speaker:Definitely want to thank Angela for putting this conversation together.
Speaker:Have that in there.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Pleasure.
Speaker:I treasure.
Speaker:Thank you for being on what is inspired by 12 minute converse.
