Two words in Torah 4 make people flinch: vidui devarim — spoken confession, in front of a talmid chacham. It sounds like something we are not. This shiur is the long answer to why it isn't, and to what the Rebbe is actually asking a person to do. A full shiur on Likutey Moharan, Torah 4 — Anochi Hashem Elokecha — given at Breslov New Hempstead in the weeks before Rosh Hashana. The Rebbe opens by saying a person has to KNOW — not believe — that everything that happens to him is for his good, and that knowing it is a taste of Olam Haba. From there the shiur builds the whole mechanism: how Havayah and Elokim came apart at the briah, how every davar in the world is holding a tziruf of osios haTorah, what an aveira actually breaks, why the letters land on a person's bones, and how vidui devarim in front of a tzaddik who has made himself ayin draws those letters back out and rebuilds malchus dikedusha.
