As entrepreneurs, we all are stepping into the unknown to some degree. This can be a good thing or this can be a bad thing. It really depends on what, exactly, the unknown is. Your unknown may range from uncertainty in specific areas to simply not knowing what you don’t know. So with this inherent risk, how do you determine what is worth pursuing and when you should seek more knowledge before you embark?
To dig into this further, I (Daniel) chatted with Matthew Behringer, the Managing Partner of TKSoftware Inc. Matthew related how his foray into the unknown led to many hard lessons learned. He cautioned other entrepreneurs to not forsake the wisdom of others who can offer sage advice into your venture. Matthew also discussed finding ways to pivot, balancing a partner relationship, hiring character, and implementing the right ideas.
“We didn’t know what we didn’t know… I wouldn’t recommend to anybody else to step out at the same level of unknowing... Everything we’ve learned along the way has been learned through the school of hard knocks. Which is a tough school.” -- Matthew Behringer
