Shownotes

Like the last couple of episodes, we recorded this in early April. And as you can see, we’re still doing the virtual thing. Some people call this kind of setup “the new normal.” While it’s impossible to say whether that’s true or not, we’re confident that the way we do our jobs and the way employers conduct business will never be the same as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

Here at Rea, we’ve been working to accommodate a growing remote workforce. Many of our policies were already in the process of being created when the order came down from the governor to work from home, if possible, but it expedited those changes within our organization. However, we know that many businesses struggled to accommodate these orders, which resulted in a wide variety of challenges.

Annie Yoder, Rea’s director of development, and Becky Boyd, a manager on our practice growth team — and a long-time member of our remote workforce — join this episode to share some best practices, tips, and insight to help others embrace the possibilities of a work-from-home culture. We’ll also be looking at this topic from both the employee’s and employer’s perspective because there are different benefits and challenges on both sides.

Listen to this episode of unsuitable to learn:

  • How communication strategies and management styles have to change
  • How a remote workforce opens up the talent market and service opportunities
  • Why it’s important for employees to set boundaries and for employers to respect them
