Shownotes
On today’s show we hear the two birth stories from holistic health coach and postpartum doula, Olivia. Although Olivia is a registered nurse, she admits to knowing very little about birth and the preparation needed to support a positive birth experience. She got lucky when a friend of hers recommended she join her hospitals midwifery-led care model; crediting that continuity of care for her positive hospital birth experience.
Left feeling confused by the lack of positive birth stories she was exposed to and innately questioning the need to birth in a hospital, she dived deeply into the physiology of birth and what environment is best to support the natural hormonal flow of labour; ultimately choosing to birth her second child at home.
Although both of her experiences were positive ones, Olivia shares the contrasts between her two births and the insights she gained on reflection.
