Shownotes

Billy Partson Nalondebwa is an Apostle, Founder and Director of Billy Partson Ministries and a pastor at The Chosen Church.

Born in 1993, Billy encountered Christ at a very young age while living in the village with his grandmother. At the age of five, he joined a small church meeting under a tree and began serving as a drummer during worship. His passion for God quickly grew, leading him to preach even in banana plantations, imagining them as people.

As a child, Billy led fellow children into fasting, evangelism, and charity. At the age of twelve, through deep study of Scripture and exposure to Christian teachings, he clearly received the call into ministry.

During his secondary school years, Billy actively preached and taught the Word. Some of the fruits of this season include Pastor Simon, now Missions Director of BPM.

Despite early challenges—including ministering under trees—Billy remained faithful. During this time, he wrote his first book, "Secrets Revealed." And many other books, "The Image, leadership series, spiritual growth series, character development, etc "

Transcripts

Speaker:

Welcome to 12-Minute Converse with Jesus Believers.

Speaker:

God chose first to have a conversation with us, his creation.

Speaker:

Our prayer is that this listening space brings growth and transforms your life forever.

Speaker:

Praise God for you Pastor Billy Patson.

Speaker:

It's a great pleasure to connect with you.

Speaker:

What parts of the world are you in today?

Speaker:

I'm in Uganda, Kampala, Uganda.

Speaker:

And Uganda is in the east of Africa.

Speaker:

Tell me what has encouraged you and what keeps encouraging you to be an author?

Speaker:

I got that in me that I would be an author since I was 14 years or 12 years.

Speaker:

It was in my heart that I have to write books.

Speaker:

And I could yearn even to read other people's books.

Speaker:

So it was in me that I write books.

Speaker:

And the Lord put on my heart that I will make a library full of books whereby people come, read those books.

Speaker:

Not only a physical library, but there will also be a digital library whereby it will be accessed by everyone in all languages.

Speaker:

How are you releasing these books?

Speaker:

Are you doing Amazon?

Speaker:

Are you printing them locally?

Speaker:

Tell me more.

Speaker:

Now, I was going to do Amazon.

Speaker:

I tried my first book through Amazon, but unfortunately, I saw it was challenging.

Speaker:

Even when someone bought a book, I was not even receiving money.

Speaker:

Reason being, it was like in Africa, strictly, it has to be like a revenue for $100 for you to receive.

Speaker:

And so I was lacking even that marketing whereby my book to reach many people.

Speaker:

So I'm not after Amazon now because of that challenge.

Speaker:

So I'm praying to God I went to that direction.

Speaker:

If someone has a publishing company, I can engage.

Speaker:

I see how these books can be published.

Speaker:

Even a digital platform that can try to sell my books, I'm very welcome.

Speaker:

So both ways, the publishing company and the digital way, I welcome.

Speaker:

But Amazon, I was challenged with that.

Speaker:

How did you come to meet Jesus?

Speaker:

Now, how I came, I was living with my grandma in a village.

Speaker:

By that time, I was around five years.

Speaker:

I saw the born again people, the Pentecostals, who were Anglicans by that time with my grandma.

Speaker:

And I saw them, they were praying on the mango tree.

Speaker:

I was like, okay, I should just join these people.

Speaker:

And I drum for them.

Speaker:

I was only five years.

Speaker:

I decided to do that.

Speaker:

And even in my playing games as a child, I could just play as a pastor.

Speaker:

So there's something that the Lord had put in me.

Speaker:

Since when I was young, nobody preached to me.

Speaker:

But I just decided that I just need to pray with those people who are on the mango tree.

Speaker:

Even when I was playing with my kids, I was like, I felt like to play like a pastor.

Speaker:

That's how I was.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Is mango one of your favorite fruits?

Speaker:

Yeah, it is one of the mango and pineapple, and even apples.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

So at five, you were playing the drums.

Speaker:

Do you still play the drums?

Speaker:

Yes, we have our local drums.

Speaker:

So it was what I was praying for then.

Speaker:

And I still have the skill, I know, despite now churches, they have the keyboards, the sound system, even the drums, you know, those drums from the Western is what now being used in most of the churches.

Speaker:

We no longer use the local drums unless there's that cultural performance.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

What does church life look like in Uganda?

Speaker:

Now, it's not still under the mango tree.

Speaker:

By the way, even myself, I began the ministry on the mango tree.

Speaker:

The church has progressed because the church in Uganda generally, it had some issues.

Speaker:

When we read from the history, by the time I was born, Idi Amin banned the churches.

Speaker:

He wanted Iran to be a Muslim nation.

Speaker:

So there was that setback in the church of Uganda.

Speaker:

But we thank God and this leadership of President Museven, he gave the freedom of worship.

Speaker:

So the church has revived, it is growing, despite there are few cost challenges.

Speaker:

You find like some churches, even my ministry is part whereby there is some those challenges, finances, you can't do some stuff due to finances.

Speaker:

And you find even people when they come, they expect like, okay, the church is going to help us and then you find the church, it needs also.

Speaker:

So there are those challenges that the church in Uganda is facing.

Speaker:

But again, it is growing, despite of all that.

Speaker:

When you consider who you are today, based on that fate you had in knowing that God called you to be a pastor, when you look at how that worked, do you see in other people the calling that God may have for them?

Speaker:

Yes, definitely.

Speaker:

But one thing I discovered in my journey, which also I put into practice, is not like people should focus externally, we should always first focus internally.

Speaker:

Since my childhood, the Lord put on my heart whereby I could read the Bible, but not with an intention that I'm reading the Bible to minister, but to edify, to learn, to speak to my soul.

Speaker:

That was my focus.

Speaker:

I discovered when we focus internally, to intake what is in us, then we are able to know where we are going.

Speaker:

But the challenge I've discovered today, people are normally focusing on what is internal.

Speaker:

Someone wants to be seen.

Speaker:

People focus on appearance, they neglect the character.

Speaker:

If we focus on building the character to be aligned with God, then the calling becomes visible because growth is always in process.

Speaker:

And calling, it unfolds.

Speaker:

It's not like you discover it once.

Speaker:

You find with calling, every time you spend with God, the calling becomes clear.

Speaker:

It unfolds.

Speaker:

Do you have a family?

Speaker:

I have my grandma, father, my siblings, mother.

Speaker:

I'm not yet married, but I'm hoping soon.

Speaker:

I love the fact that you've found your alignment with God, Pastor Billy.

Speaker:

I love the fact as well that you are part of the new movement for what's happening in Uganda.

Speaker:

You seem to truly believe in what is about to unfold.

Speaker:

So again, really excited for what happens.

Speaker:

If you're listening to this conversation though, five years from today, you put it on and you're listening to it, what's a message you'd leave for future you?

Speaker:

This generation, we should focus on becoming rather than appearing.

Speaker:

Becoming, what do I mean?

Speaker:

Character development, capacity building.

Speaker:

I discovered whatever people want to look externally, the Lord deposited in us.

Speaker:

The issue is to become what the Lord put in us.

Speaker:

Then to appear, it will be easier, but if we focus on appearance, we will lose out.

Speaker:

This has been a great pleasure.

Speaker:

In closing, is there anything else you'd like to share with our amazing audience?

Speaker:

I'm really blessed to have spoken with this wonderful podcast.

Speaker:

I blessed a lot for my brother and I just want to encourage each one of us that we need that alignment with God.

Speaker:

I discovered that faith is a structure of living.

Speaker:

It's not like we are just believing for things.

Speaker:

No, no, no, no.

Speaker:

It is a consistent living decisions with God, a consistent relationship we have with the Lord.

Speaker:

So that's what I can say.

Speaker:

Pastor Billy Patson, a pleasure, a treasure.

Speaker:

Thank you for being on What Is Inspired by 12 Minute Convoys.
