Shownotes

We’ve all heard that nothing great happens in our comfort zone, but this week, my guest throws that thinking on its head, declaring that a comfort zone is the very thing we all in fact, DO need.

Derrick McManus is a retired South Australian Police officer who operated in the Special Tasks and Rescue (STAR) Group.  He held specialist skills as a sniper, diver and was trained by the military elite Special Air Services Regiment (SAS) in counter-terrorist tactics.  His role was physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding.

In 1994 Derrick was shot 14 times, in less than 5 seconds, with a high-powered semi-automatic rifle; and was left bleeding on the ground for 3 hours before rescuers could get to him.

His very survival defied doctors and this week, Derrick shares his amazing story with us, what went through his mind in those long hours waiting for help and how we can use his lessons to help us feel more able to handle the challenges life throws our way.
