Shownotes

This week, I sat down with my longtime co-host Jim Hasley to catch up on everything he’s had going on lately and, as usual, the conversation went in several different directions.

Jim recently wrapped up a stretch of traveling that ended about as badly as it possibly could without anyone getting seriously hurt. While driving with his wife, he hit a moose with his F-150 and totaled the truck. Thankfully, both of them walked away perfectly fine, but the same definitely can’t be said for the Ford.

From there, we got into some bigger conservation issues, including the damage protected marine mammals are causing to salmon fisheries and whether we’ve actually done too good of a job recovering certain species without allowing management practices to keep pace.

We also revisited the ongoing debacle in the Prairie Pothole Region and talked about Pittman-Robertson dollars—where that money comes from, how it’s being spent and why hunters should be asking harder questions when those dollars continue funding programs that don’t appear to be working.
