Shownotes

We took a little short break, but we're back with a new episode of Chosen Kin. We dive right into the hot topics in pop culture, from the discourse around Yung Miami's "Spend That" to Essence Fest and Love Island. We get into misogyny, a fanbase that's moving wild, and the importance of community care. This is such a great conversation, so get comfortable, because you're in for a ride.

Speaker A:

Hello, hello, chosen kin.

Speaker A:

I am bia.

Speaker B:

I am harry.

Speaker B:

And we are.

Speaker A:

We are chosen kin.

Speaker A:

I feel like the air horn is really a podcast staple across all podcasts.

Speaker B:

It really is a podcast, you know?

Speaker A:

You know, it's.

Speaker A:

It's been a minute.

Speaker A:

Chosen Kin.

Speaker A:

I know the summer has been summering.

Speaker A:

Me and Harry's schedules have been colliding.

Speaker A:

Like, you want it like a girl fight, like, on Bad Girls Club, where they, like, talk Tesla and everywhere.

Speaker A:

Like, that's me.

Speaker A:

And Harry schedules to have this show for y', all, so be fucking grateful.

Speaker A:

No, I'm joking.

Speaker A:

We're happy to be here.

Speaker A:

We love that you're here.

Speaker A:

You tune in every week.

Speaker A:

Harry, how are you?

Speaker A:

How's life?

Speaker A:

How's things?

Speaker B:

Yeah, life is life thing.

Speaker B:

You know, I feel like I say this every time I come on here, but I feel like the universe throws me something new every single day, so it's like, bro, can I get a break?

Speaker B:

But, you know, I think that this.

Speaker B:

This is.

Speaker B:

This is one of the few things that brings me joy, and I think that I'm having to.

Speaker B:

You know, when we say we are chosen Kin, like, the value that is underneath that chosen Kin, I feel like this is the ultimate test of us living now.

Speaker B:

That value.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker B:

Yeah, Yeah.

Speaker B:

I say.

Speaker B:

I say all of that to say that, yes, it's been crazy.

Speaker B:

Yes, it's been a lot, but, yeah, we're getting through it.

Speaker B:

We're getting through it for sure.

Speaker B:

How are you?

Speaker B:

How you been?

Speaker A:

I love how you take, like.

Speaker A:

You turn any sort of, like, life is shit into a positive, and I appreciate that about you, but I'm.

Speaker A:

I'm in that, like, kind of the season of, like, saying it.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

But I'm trying to stay positive, like, to the people I need to stay positive to.

Speaker A:

I know when to turn it on and turn it off.

Speaker A:

But I am.

Speaker A:

I feel like I'm arriving.

Speaker A:

I feel like I say that in, like, every space.

Speaker A:

I'm, like, I'm arriving.

Speaker A:

I'm.

Speaker A:

I'm grounding myself.

Speaker A:

I'm.

Speaker A:

I'm getting it together.

Speaker A:

It's just been a really busy season.

Speaker A:

I started a new job and went from, like, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker A:

You know, it's like, thanks and yikes.

Speaker A:

You know, it just, like, kind of changed my whole schedule and way of living, which is, like, not bad.

Speaker A:

I accepted it.

Speaker A:

It's what I wanted to do.

Speaker A:

But truth is, I feel like I sing that every episode.

Speaker B:

You do?

Speaker B:

And I'm like, I really do.

Speaker B:

I'm here.

Speaker B:

I'm here for it.

Speaker B:

Sing it.

Speaker B:

Sing it out.

Speaker A:

I'm Loki.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I want to showcase my vocal stems a lot more on this show.

Speaker A:

Like the Carisha song or my scamming.

Speaker A:

We.

Speaker A:

Okay, we gotta talk about that.

Speaker A:

I almost forgot.

Speaker A:

Let me add that to the show.

Speaker A:

But I've been traveling a lot.

Speaker A:

There was a.

Speaker A:

When we took a little break, Chosen Kin.

Speaker A:

A was in Brazil for two weeks and loved that.

Speaker A:

But we'll probably not do that in that way ever again.

Speaker A:

Great trip.

Speaker A:

Beautiful gown.

Speaker A:

It's a beautiful gown.

Speaker A:

Great trip.

Speaker A:

And, yeah, I was very tired and then literally started this job.

Speaker A:

And then I traveled the week of the new job for the job to Charlotte.

Speaker A:

Charlotte is cute.

Speaker A:

Harry.

Speaker A:

We have to go to Charlotte.

Speaker B:

You know, the food.

Speaker A:

Banging.

Speaker A:

Food is so banging.

Speaker A:

I. I wish I had more social time, but I really just spent a lot of time getting smashed with my co workers.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Later, after things were done.

Speaker A:

No, for real.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker B:

I hear the wrong thing.

Speaker B:

You said smashed with you.

Speaker B:

You said, I got smashed.

Speaker B:

And then I was like, smashed.

Speaker B:

And you said with my co workers.

Speaker B:

I was like, okay, fine.

Speaker B:

That makes sense.

Speaker B:

So I get what you're saying initially.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

The cultural difference is differencing right now.

Speaker A:

And I love that.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

And I also appreciate it.

Speaker A:

I feel like living in this current time.

Speaker A:

I was talking to a friend about this.

Speaker A:

I. I had therapy, like, weeks ago.

Speaker A:

I do need to call that lady.

Speaker A:

If you're my therapist, I will call you soon, girl.

Speaker A:

It's just hard to do anything.

Speaker A:

But I was talking to my homegirl and she was.

Speaker A:

I was like, am I depressed?

Speaker A:

And she was like, yeah, like, who isn't fucking depressed in this time?

Speaker A:

And if you're not depressed, you're either not breathing or you're not paying attention or you're deeply medicated.

Speaker A:

Like, everyone should be depressed.

Speaker A:

And if you're not, you're.

Speaker A:

Don't let me get into the politics of things.

Speaker A:

Because, Harry, I know if you're not, there's a reason why.

Speaker A:

Okay, but are you, like, feeling depressed as I am?

Speaker B:

I am.

Speaker B:

I am.

Speaker B:

I feel like I'm going through it.

Speaker B:

You know, I feel like I may be coping in a way that I'm not really proud of, but, yeah, I think that I am.

Speaker B:

I am struggling a little bit with, you know, my mental health, but I feel like I am trying to focus on other things.

Speaker B:

I'm trying to focus on all the million things that I'm doing and just showing up in a way that is a little bit More authentic.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You know, to me.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And I feel like I told myself that, you know what?

Speaker B:

I really can't do anything about it.

Speaker B:

Like, it is what it is.

Speaker B:

The world is coming to shit.

Speaker B:

There's really nothing I could do about it.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

So it's like, literally, I might as well just do the thing.

Speaker B:

And so.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, it is.

Speaker B:

It's been a road.

Speaker B:

But we don't want to.

Speaker B:

I don't want to bring the mood down for the people who are listening.

Speaker B:

Our chosen kid.

Speaker A:

I hear that.

Speaker A:

And, like, if we're going through it, our chosen kin are also going through it.

Speaker A:

So, like, we don't have to put on, like, a smiling face, but at the same time, like, I'm not gonna lie, this may sound up, but I personally feel like depression looks good on me.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Like, I saw your twee.

Speaker A:

The other.

Speaker A:

Your.

Speaker A:

Your thread the other day where you're like, I had no business drinking two cut waters.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And for.

Speaker A:

In me personally, I think you have business drinking two cup waters.

Speaker A:

It is a gnarly series of events because I hit.

Speaker A:

I have one.

Speaker A:

And I'd be like, yeah, babes.

Speaker A:

And I also.

Speaker A:

I hate to say this.

Speaker A:

I'm one of those bitches that I'll drink half the co. Water.

Speaker A:

And while my friends will be like.

Speaker A:

Well, let me not say my friends will be like, shots.

Speaker A:

I will be like, let's take a shot.

Speaker A:

Libra, please.

Speaker A:

And I will pour the shot into the hot water.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Last Sunday.

Speaker A:

Last Sunday, I went to the.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna tell y' all this party, you know, y', all, I'm not worried about safety necessarily for myself, because it's hard to catch me.

Speaker A:

I'm a Libra.

Speaker A:

I'm doing a lot of that.

Speaker A:

Y' all probably not thinking about, but I went to this party called Savor.

Speaker A:

Had the best time.

Speaker A:

I love partying with the bush queens because don't perceive me babes, and if you're perceiving me, perceive me shaking it.

Speaker A:

But all that to say, had cut one and a half, put a shot in there.

Speaker A:

Got to save her.

Speaker A:

Did.

Speaker A:

Had a ball.

Speaker A:

Bell of the ball.

Speaker A:

I love hanging a ball.

Speaker A:

And that's what I mean by depression.

Speaker A:

Looks good on me sometimes because that's when I actually focus on my skin care.

Speaker A:

Well, I always be focused on my skincare, but, you know, a little deeper.

Speaker A:

I was trying.

Speaker B:

Is that.

Speaker A:

Was I fishing?

Speaker A:

Was I fishing?

Speaker B:

I've never seen.

Speaker B:

I've never seen you have bad skin ever.

Speaker B:

Ever since I've known you.

Speaker B:

It's always glowing, so.

Speaker A:

But when I'm sad, it'd be a little dull.

Speaker A:

And I can't do the dull.

Speaker A:

I really can't.

Speaker A:

Especially in the summertime, but that I'm smoking a lot more, which I. Weed is.

Speaker A:

Weed is my medicine.

Speaker A:

I hate this.

Speaker A:

I don't care.

Speaker A:

And drinking a lot more and I'm.

Speaker A:

I'm in the streets in the summertime, I really don't care, but I feel like when you're sad, what does l say?

Speaker A:

I tried to drink it away.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna always try.

Speaker A:

Drink it away.

Speaker B:

She was real for that.

Speaker A:

Like, I tried to put one in the.

Speaker A:

Let me tell you something.

Speaker A:

It may not work.

Speaker A:

I. I come to the conclusion that may not work, but I'm gonna try.

Speaker A:

Do you be drinking it away?

Speaker A:

You try.

Speaker B:

I think that I'm learning, and I feel like.

Speaker B:

I also feel like, because I've been such an emotional.

Speaker B:

Like, I'm an emotional eater.

Speaker B:

If I'm happy, I eat.

Speaker B:

If I'm sad, I eat.

Speaker B:

If I'm.

Speaker B:

If I'm celebrating something, you know, and so I haven't really been doing a lot more eating recently.

Speaker B:

Recently.

Speaker B:

But I think that because the cold waters, for example, I don't know, like, making a cocktail.

Speaker B:

I'm making a.

Speaker B:

Hot water is different.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

I don't know why I would normally have a cocktail and be fine.

Speaker B:

I can have two.

Speaker B:

Be fine.

Speaker B:

Something about having one cut water takes you there, takes you through there really quickly.

Speaker B:

And so in my head, I really want to go through there a little bit.

Speaker B:

I want to get to my destination quicker.

Speaker B:

And so what I'm going to do is I' to do two, and I'm fine.

Speaker B:

I did.

Speaker B:

I did two last night, and I just rolled on the couch, watched Love island, and, you know, I felt really good.

Speaker B:

It was a good.

Speaker A:

I love a roll on the couch.

Speaker A:

I love a roll on the couch.

Speaker A:

You know how you.

Speaker A:

I love hosting a pregame and everybody come back to your house to, like, eat their little food from Cookout, McDonald's, whatever.

Speaker A:

We're not supposed to eat at McDonald's, but, you know, Jesus not finished working on me, but.

Speaker B:

I'm not judging.

Speaker B:

I just.

Speaker A:

Oh, I never stopped, babe.

Speaker A:

That's a Southern classic.

Speaker A:

That's a whole different aside.

Speaker A:

People love to talk about it, but if you're not from the south, you don't know.

Speaker A:

I love to.

Speaker A:

I got Also have a desk blanket, y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

I love to wrap myself up and be like, bye, y'.

Speaker B:

All.

Speaker A:

I love to do that.

Speaker A:

I'm Good for that.

Speaker A:

But I get it, I get it, I get it.

Speaker A:

I feel like, should we get into the topics?

Speaker B:

Let's get into the topics.

Speaker B:

Let's get into that all day.

Speaker A:

All day.

Speaker B:

But this, I want to say this check in has really lifted my spirits.

Speaker B:

You know, I have something to do today and I was like, you know, feeling a little, okay, let's.

Speaker B:

Let's go do it.

Speaker B:

But I feel like now I feel like, yeah, let's go do it.

Speaker B:

Let's go do the.

Speaker A:

Let's go do it, you know, and let's go.

Speaker A:

Whatever motivator.

Speaker A:

There's nothing wrong with having a motivator.

Speaker A:

That's not healthy.

Speaker A:

Whatever motivator you have sometimes, I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker A:

When I've been deeply depressed, my vote motivator has been I have a joint in my living room.

Speaker A:

Let me get out of bed and grab it.

Speaker A:

I hate to say that, but some days, like all you can do is crawl.

Speaker A:

And I just, I wish all of our chosen kin can, like, experience joy in whatever ways and not shame yourself for it.

Speaker A:

Don't, you know, know the lines.

Speaker A:

Don't over indulge, but reel yourself in.

Speaker A:

Back in.

Speaker A:

But if you need a couple cut waters and roll yourself on the bed and watch a little Love island, do it, babe.

Speaker A:

You're not hurting nobody.

Speaker A:

You're not.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, I love our check ins.

Speaker A:

We always come in and be like, like, and then after we're like, okay, let's start.

Speaker A:

So Hot Topics.

Speaker A:

This is kind of attached to like Essence Fest.

Speaker A:

I'd be so jealous about Essence Festival not being there.

Speaker A:

But my people from Baton Rouge, out.

Speaker A:

You will never catch me in New Orleans in July.

Speaker A:

I'm so sorry, babes.

Speaker A:

You will never catch me there.

Speaker B:

Is it that curly?

Speaker A:

Yes, it's hot.

Speaker A:

And then also imagine like something is being so hot, but then being so humid that you feel even hotter.

Speaker A:

Like the humidity takes the heat up to a entire another level.

Speaker A:

And they are below sea level.

Speaker A:

They below sea level.

Speaker A:

And if you think it's hot, where you at right now, Imagine New Orleans.

Speaker A:

Imagine Louisiana.

Speaker A:

Just putting that out there.

Speaker B:

Is it hotter than Texas?

Speaker A:

Depending on what part of Texas.

Speaker B:

Houston in the summer is demonic.

Speaker A:

So it's very similar to Houston.

Speaker A:

They're both coastal.

Speaker A:

Yeah, they're very similar temples.

Speaker A:

But my.

Speaker A:

Let me tell you something.

Speaker A:

This is Holo aside, we love to chat.

Speaker A:

When I was growing up, I would go down to Louisiana during the summers and all my little cousins, you, you can't tell a Southern belle nothing.

Speaker A:

She's still gonna have that relaxed hair, that silk wrap, that silk press in that summertime.

Speaker A:

But now, now in this temperature, I don't see none of my, my Southern bells with no silk press no more.

Speaker A:

And that's when you should be alarmed because my auntie, cousins and them, they will keep that silk press laid middle of July, August, now they transition to naturals.

Speaker A:

And that's, that's alarming.

Speaker A:

That's alarming.

Speaker A:

So the climate, anyway.

Speaker A:

The climate, the climate is changing despite all people saying hot topic.

Speaker A:

So at ESSENCE Fest, people are up in arms because B. Simone, people love to hate B. Simone.

Speaker A:

I'm one of those people, so I can't really judge and.

Speaker A:

But I don't think she came across this child who, this young person who was an entrepreneur, has a set of hats and is promoting her business, sees her in the lobby and is like, hey, I would love to give you a hat for my business.

Speaker A:

Da, da, da.

Speaker A:

B. Simone goes, actually, you don't need to be giving out free stuff to people because this hat of yours, beautiful hat, beautiful gowns, babes.

Speaker A:

This could end up in the back of my car because you gave it to me for free.

Speaker A:

I would like to buy your hat and go to your website.

Speaker A:

So then I feel more tied to it, essentially, is what she was saying, the Internet, up in arms, curious.

Speaker A:

How do you feel about this?

Speaker B:

Sometimes I feel like B. Simone says things that I think is rooted in maybe care.

Speaker B:

But sometimes it comes across like, you know, you don't get the, you know, you know, you're not living with the people or how do I put this in a way?

Speaker B:

Because then I, I try not to be, I try not to be shady.

Speaker B:

That lady doesn't know me, so I don't want to, you know, come for her because I don't know her.

Speaker B:

But I think that sometimes I feel like sometimes you just be saying things to say things.

Speaker B:

And I think that that's a little bit problematic to me.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And I'm like, I could buy or.

Speaker B:

There are many times I've gone through somewhere, someone stops me to engage with me.

Speaker B:

And I like you because I think that you are a young black person trying to do something nice.

Speaker B:

I will purchase and I would toss it and never go back to it again.

Speaker B:

If it's like disposable income, it's like a ten dollar thing that you want me to buy, I'll buy it.

Speaker B:

Like, I don't think it, I don't think that matters.

Speaker B:

I think that this Person sees you and sees the value in you having your thing for free.

Speaker B:

So just take it and be like, hey, this person gave me this free heart.

Speaker B:

Go check them out.

Speaker B:

Go support them.

Speaker B:

It looks really good, and it feels really good, too.

Speaker B:

If you don't want to do promo, you can be like, thank you so much.

Speaker B:

I will not do promo for you, though.

Speaker B:

But I really appreciate the gift.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker B:

But you don't have to be like, use it as a teachable moment for them and for the Internet.

Speaker B:

Like, I think that that's my issue.

Speaker B:

Like, everything is not a teachable moment for the people.

Speaker B:

I don't feel like.

Speaker B:

I don't feel strongly about it.

Speaker B:

And I think also, I think it was after the whole my finances situation, and we had to go to H M and then the Wearing the shorts to the.

Speaker B:

To.

Speaker B:

To.

Speaker B:

To.

Speaker B:

To preach to the people.

Speaker B:

Like, you know, at some point, I don't know, she.

Speaker A:

She takes herself so seriously.

Speaker A:

Like, she takes herself way seriously than I think anyone takes her.

Speaker A:

And I understand it.

Speaker A:

Like, I. I get it.

Speaker A:

And I also think, you know, as I have a podcast mic in front of me, I think when people have mics in front of them for a little too long, they think they're very much important.

Speaker A:

And she sips her own Kool Aid, and everyone around her sips her Kool Aid.

Speaker A:

So I get it.

Speaker A:

But I also feel like, yeah, you should have just took the hat.

Speaker A:

I think there's a way of saying.

Speaker A:

There's always a way of saying things.

Speaker A:

I say this about everything.

Speaker A:

There's a way of saying things.

Speaker A:

And she could have said that a lot differently.

Speaker A:

I don't think she was harsh in her messaging or, like, the way she said it to the girl, But I think the logic was a little of much of a reach.

Speaker A:

But I don't think the Internet should be up in arms about this.

Speaker A:

A reach.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

There's so many other things to be upset with.

Speaker A:

Be Simone for, like, that she has done, like, honestly.

Speaker A:

But is.

Speaker A:

This just didn't make sense to me.

Speaker A:

I'm like, meanwhile, ESSENCE was being overshadowed by this moment.

Speaker A:

But Kehlani, beautiful performance.

Speaker A:

Beautiful performance.

Speaker A:

Lotto Big mama got on that stage like, Cardi.

Speaker A:

Like, there were so many moments in ESSENCE Fest that were just like, oh, this is amazing.

Speaker A:

And now we have this BC list celebrity taking up headline.

Speaker A:

That was rude.

Speaker A:

Was that rude to me?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

You know, be who you are for your mic.

Speaker A:

But, like, I'm being honest.

Speaker A:

Like, I wouldn't put B. Simone, like an A list celebrity, you know, but, like, now we have this moment being overshadowed because of this, and it's like, okay, I get it.

Speaker A:

I. I understand the discourse, but it's really not that deep to be trending.

Speaker A:

It's really not.

Speaker A:

She's done worse.

Speaker A:

I just think she gets people bothered by, like, her.

Speaker A:

She is this, like, way of being.

Speaker A:

Like, when entrepreneurs make on being entrepreneurial, their personality, it irks people, and I understand why, because everything is not about the business.

Speaker A:

Everything is not about a moment.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But mind you, you just was telling us that you had a shop at H M. Why.

Speaker A:

Why do you think this little girl wants advice from you, but she just knows you from.

Speaker A:

And, like, you being all wilding out and stuff, and this is that.

Speaker A:

And the third.

Speaker A:

Just take that and pour life into this young, young lady and call it a day.

Speaker A:

Like, take the hat, babes.

Speaker A:

Take the hat.

Speaker B:

Yeah, just take that.

Speaker B:

And, you know, like, it's not a T shirt.

Speaker B:

One woman, she said hats at the lobby of Essence Fest.

Speaker B:

It's not that deep.

Speaker A:

It's not that deep.

Speaker A:

Yeah, okay.

Speaker A:

I'm glad we talked about that, because I was just like, lord, I don't know why people so.

Speaker A:

So on this, I do agree that,.

Speaker B:

You know, she gets the girl.

Speaker B:

She gets the girlies riled up, like, every.

Speaker B:

Everything she does.

Speaker B:

And I think that.

Speaker B:

But I also think that there's a part of her that knows that she gets the girl is riled up, and that is currency for her, and so she's gonna do it anyways.

Speaker B:

I mean, we're talking about it now, you know, on the podcast.

Speaker B:

I think that that is something that happens.

Speaker B:

Like, she knows that there will be conversation from this situation that I'm gonna do, but, like, I'm just like, girl, no one.

Speaker A:

We shouldn't care that much.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm gonna switch gears a little bit.

Speaker A:

Have you seen the discourse around, like, Brandy's appearance online?

Speaker B:

Yes, I heard thing.

Speaker A:

I think she was in Macomb, Mississippi, and was accepting a key to the city, which is.

Speaker A:

I love that for her.

Speaker A:

I'm glad she's, you know, staking claim to her Southern roots.

Speaker A:

I really appreciate that about her, but people are like, she doesn't look well and not.

Speaker A:

I don't know if people are.

Speaker A:

I think some people are saying she doesn't look well.

Speaker A:

Some folks are just immediately going into her looks and like, oh, she don't look the same.

Speaker A:

What's going on with Brandy?

Speaker A:

But my question is, have we not learned from, like, Chad Chadwick Boseman.

Speaker A:

And like, you don't know what's going on in people's lives.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

You have no clue.

Speaker A:

So why are you commenting on people's appearance?

Speaker A:

Why do people feel.

Speaker A:

What's up with this culture of people feeling so comfortable commenting on people's appearance?

Speaker A:

And you can go all the way to Love island with this to anywhere.

Speaker A:

Lizzo, you could talk about anybody, and everyone has so many opinions about somebody's appearance.

Speaker A:

But don't let somebody record you in a grocery store.

Speaker A:

Don't let somebody post a picture of you online and be like, who is this ugly bitch?

Speaker A:

Like, no.

Speaker A:

Like, yes, it's mean.

Speaker A:

But this parasocial world where you think you can comment on everything.

Speaker B:

I feel like I don't know where.

Speaker B:

Where we.

Speaker B:

And I think that's always my challenge with.

Speaker B:

Even when I was talking about.

Speaker B:

When we were talking about B. Simone earlier on, like, I'm like, I don't know this lady.

Speaker B:

I don't want to give her a lot of grief for, you know, her, but I feel like people need to just focus on their lives, like, focus on important things right now.

Speaker B:

You know, the world is on fire.

Speaker B:

Literally, you know, it is.

Speaker B:

You know, our girl is in New Orleans, cannot wear a silk purse anymore, you know, in the summer.

Speaker B:

So, like, this.

Speaker B:

These are the important issues, because the world is on fire.

Speaker B:

And I'm just like.

Speaker B:

I'm like, I'm Brandy, always guessing, and I don't like the fact that.

Speaker B:

And maybe I'm biased.

Speaker B:

And, you know, I really.

Speaker B:

I love Brandi down, but, like, I feel like Brandi always gets the short end of the stick.

Speaker B:

Every.

Speaker B:

There's always a commentary about how she looks, what she's doing, what she's wearing.

Speaker B:

It's always something.

Speaker B:

And I don't know.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker B:

I don't know how I feel about that.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker B:

It's just.

Speaker B:

It just rubs me the wrong way that that's always the converse, the convo we're having when it comes to her.

Speaker B:

Also, she was just at ESSENCE Fest a couple of days before, and you saw her performance, and she looks good.

Speaker A:

Great.

Speaker A:

She looks great.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker B:

It's like, people forget that, you know, camera.

Speaker B:

There are different camera angles.

Speaker B:

People get you in different.

Speaker B:

Lighting is important.

Speaker B:

Like, yeah, things.

Speaker B:

Things happen.

Speaker B:

It could be a variety of reasons.

Speaker B:

So I don't understand.

Speaker B:

I didn't understand the discourse.

Speaker B:

You know, I was over the discussion even before I even started.

Speaker B:

Like, as soon as I saw it, I was like, y'.

Speaker B:

All, please, y', all, please, please.

Speaker A:

Here we go again.

Speaker A:

And Lord forbid, she's actually going through a health crisis and people are dragging her online.

Speaker A:

And then, you know, she may come out later and be like, yeah, I'm going through this.

Speaker A:

And people are like, oh, my gosh, that was a problem.

Speaker A:

That's the problem.

Speaker A:

Every time someone posts about, like, someone, like, someone pops up in online in the media, and they're like, oh, this person looks crazy.

Speaker A:

Everyone had all these regrets around Chadwick Boseman once they found out that had a.

Speaker A:

Was dealing with cancer.

Speaker A:

And it was like, okay, now y' all have compassion because you know, people's business.

Speaker A:

Compassion and empathy costs you nothing.

Speaker A:

Nothing.

Speaker A:

Have some empathy.

Speaker A:

Unless someone.

Speaker A:

And again, there's people I don't have empathy for, but it's rightfully deserved, you know, but we won't go into that.

Speaker A:

So I just.

Speaker A:

It's like, mind your business and stop commenting on people's appearance.

Speaker A:

Because my favorite thing is when people comment on someone's appearance and that celebrity then be looking at look, going through someone's pro Cardi is good for this Cardi and TS Madison great for this.

Speaker A:

Great for and teaches them.

Speaker A:

Don't you ever talk about nobody online.

Speaker A:

Because just because you're online and does not mean that someone doesn't see your stuff and be like, actually, you edgeless slut.

Speaker A:

Like, where.

Speaker A:

Like where.

Speaker A:

Where are your edges?

Speaker A:

You know?

Speaker A:

Or like, where is this?

Speaker A:

Or where is that?

Speaker A:

You got this on.

Speaker A:

You got.

Speaker A:

How you going to talk about me and my customade archival whatever.

Speaker A:

And here you are in a Kroger bag, you know, no shade like you wear what you want to wear.

Speaker A:

Wear what you want to wear.

Speaker A:

But again, like glass rock, glass house or whatever.

Speaker B:

A Kroger bag is wild.

Speaker A:

But you let me tell you something.

Speaker A:

Them grocery bags thick as thick.

Speaker A:

You can make a.

Speaker A:

You can definitely make a dress out of that.

Speaker A:

People make be making away on my watch day that bag be around my head deep conditioned.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

It's a lot of good uses.

Speaker A:

I'm never gonna drag a little bag.

Speaker B:

I was scribing.

Speaker A:

So let's get into this.

Speaker A:

Nd I re got on the Internet due to the popularity of Spin that and Anthem a ancestral hymn.

Speaker A:

If we want to say that the people are gravitating towards because of the economy, because of summer, because bad girls doing bad girl shit.

Speaker A:

Like, yeah, like people are gravitating towards it.

Speaker A:

It is the.

Speaker A:

The song in the summer.

Speaker A:

I do understand the criticism given, you know, Caresha's Ties to Puff Daddy Diddy Love, as he recently has by.

Speaker A:

But she has said that the way that people have gravitated to this song means that we will never.

Speaker A:

We don't want freedom or we will never be free.

Speaker A:

I have thoughts.

Speaker A:

No, that's literally what she said here.

Speaker A:

She said, we will never know freedom.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

And that was that.

Speaker A:

What.

Speaker A:

I thought that was a joke.

Speaker A:

Because I would talk like that.

Speaker A:

I'd be like, oh, we would.

Speaker A:

You would never know freedom.

Speaker A:

But at the same time, I have a lot of thoughts.

Speaker A:

I have a lot of thoughts.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna let you.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna let you kick us off, because I could talk about all day.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Like, I'm not surprised.

Speaker A:

Like, hater, hater.

Speaker B:

I am not in a tiny bit surprised that she said that.

Speaker B:

Feel like.

Speaker B:

I think it's just when people don't want you to have nice things, like, oh, you know, where somebody's like.

Speaker B:

Everybody's like, you know, God, I really like.

Speaker B:

I really like applesauce.

Speaker B:

I be like, no, I don't like applesauce.

Speaker B:

There's that girl that's like, no, you know, And I think that that's the.

Speaker B:

That's the discourse.

Speaker B:

I was.

Speaker B:

Was listening to Higher Learning, another podcast that I like Rachel Lindsay, and I think they had a very, like, nuanced thoughts around the conversation, around what India said around Young Miami.

Speaker B:

And, you know, like I said, the ties with Didi and everything.

Speaker B:

I think.

Speaker B:

I think I don't have an issue with the song.

Speaker B:

I think I just have an issue with how, you know, society, we're quick to forget and we're quick to move on.

Speaker B:

Because the song is a bop, right?

Speaker B:

If you play the song at any party, that you would get the vibes going, but it's like, literally this person, you know, has stood 10 toes down defending, you know, that man.

Speaker B:

And so it's like, you know, it's like, are there consequences for your action?

Speaker B:

If you can make us dance, do we forget everything you've done?

Speaker B:

You know, is that, like the.

Speaker B:

Is that, like, the goal?

Speaker B:

I think that's the larger commentary that I think think is landing with me.

Speaker B:

There's a people that do things.

Speaker B:

I'm not surprised.

Speaker B:

India.

Speaker B:

I'm on the seals.

Speaker B:

Like, I'm never really surprised at the things that they do.

Speaker B:

I feel like at some point, it starts to feel like they were dog piling on India.

Speaker B:

The girls were saying, she's not a great singer.

Speaker B:

They were saying her music.

Speaker B:

I'm like, that I'm like that?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

Like you can be upset at someone, but you're not gonna come for India Ari's artistry.

Speaker B:

Are you trying to talk to her?

Speaker A:

No, I love India.

Speaker A:

I really do.

Speaker A:

I. I love India.

Speaker A:

I love her artistry.

Speaker A:

I think this is, this is the thing that multiple things can be true in the same time.

Speaker A:

I love India.

Speaker A:

Iri.

Speaker A:

I do think that she has had a really hard time in this industry because she's had a lot of moments where she has been outspoken, which I think artists should be in a very toxic industry that is trying to buffer misogyny, sexism, capitalism, anti blackness, all the things.

Speaker A:

And her experience has been very unique as like a dark skinned black woman singing R B soul, neo soul music with a head wrap on like and make.

Speaker A:

And trying to make that marketable.

Speaker A:

And again, like there's a question around marketable, like what is and what isn't.

Speaker A:

But at the same time, I do think she's kind of missed the mark because I feel like in particular spin.

Speaker A:

That is an entry point.

Speaker A:

Like I've seen one person in particular who I love her social.

Speaker A:

Their social content.

Speaker A:

Erica Hart made like this really cutesy, like reel about spin.

Speaker A:

That being also about like economic justice and like anti capitalism because yeah, stuff that stuff in your bag.

Speaker A:

Do it, do it.

Speaker A:

That's how I feel.

Speaker A:

I have no regrets.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

That's not how I feel just for the people listening, but that's how I.

Speaker A:

Feel because these corporations can get it back.

Speaker A:

Babes, we are suffering.

Speaker A:

So I just.

Speaker A:

And also we have bigger fish to fry.

Speaker A:

Is Karisha is the downfall of our nation?

Speaker A:

I don't think so.

Speaker A:

And also I do think there, there's a lot to say about her position in the whole Diddy trial piece.

Speaker A:

I think in particular she's been like, I haven't had that experience with him.

Speaker A:

And I think some folks have been like, fair.

Speaker A:

And I.

Speaker A:

At times I've been like, fair.

Speaker A:

And also, let's look at the rap sheet babes longer than my arm.

Speaker A:

We can't.

Speaker A:

Longer than my arm in the history of violence and abuse.

Speaker A:

And you know, you can't deny that someone speaking her personal truth is in essence negating everyone else's, like, contrasting experience.

Speaker A:

And that's just, that's just it.

Speaker A:

But I don't think Caresha Young, Miami I don't think she.

Speaker A:

I think she's aware of it, but I also don't think the elevator goes fully up in that sense.

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

And I don't mean it.

Speaker A:

No shade.

Speaker A:

I just don't think she's thinking about it in that complex way of, like, oh, me naming my experience is also, in essence, negating the experience of these victims and survivors.

Speaker A:

Like, and.

Speaker A:

But that's just what it does.

Speaker A:

But I think, you know, her not trying to be in it and having the answer to it, that's like, it's kind of copping a plea.

Speaker A:

Like, I didn't have that experience with him, so don't look at me.

Speaker A:

And she's been really vocal about how she feel.

Speaker A:

Like the industry has turned their backs on her as a result and that this being a hit is a big win for her as someone who, like, again, again, she's like, very clear.

Speaker A:

Like, hey, I did not do anything.

Speaker A:

I was just entangled with this man, in a relationship with this man, and then I broke up with him after I found.

Speaker A:

After all the things went down, and we don't even know why she broke up with him.

Speaker A:

It really could have just been.

Speaker A:

It's not a good look for me.

Speaker A:

And I think that that is hard to swallow because it should just be about your values.

Speaker A:

But I digress.

Speaker A:

But India is like, india, we got other fish to fry.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And people, this other thing I like, too.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna stop right here.

Speaker A:

I like the take that folks have been saying is, like, we don't be charging up these men about their misogyny in their rap lyrics, even in their R B songs and their art, as much as we charge up black women that are on the rise and that are making particular numbers.

Speaker A:

Like, would there be all this heat on Young Miami if this song was not in the top 10 in the hip hop charts?

Speaker A:

Like, would we?

Speaker A:

But we don't have the same energy when, like, for example, YG came out with that song, talking about essentially, his homeboy having a sexual encounter with a trans femme, a trans woman, and her disclosing in that time.

Speaker A:

And that started a whole other conversation of things.

Speaker A:

But I'm like, there are things that we should be focusing on, even within music and arts that we aren't focusing on.

Speaker A:

And I think, in essence, that is misogyny.

Speaker A:

We're ready to be like, boo, black woman.

Speaker A:

You trying to get our kids gyrating and talking about stealing and putting stuff in their bag and valuing money and fuck these niggas.

Speaker A:

Da, da, da da.

Speaker A:

But then in the same vein, y' all ready to, like, put your air guns up for any sort of drake song?

Speaker A:

Definitely 21 savage.

Speaker A:

Anything, like, in that way.

Speaker A:

And not saying that, like, that is also wrong.

Speaker A:

But, like, let's hold equal.

Speaker A:

Yeah, let's hold them equal.

Speaker B:

If we're gonna hold.

Speaker B:

If we're gonna.

Speaker B:

If we're gonna hold one to one standard, then the other should be held to that same standard as well.

Speaker B:

I feel like men be saying the most outlander, outlandish in the music constantly, but nobody holds them to.

Speaker B:

To a certain, like, standard.

Speaker B:

You know, it's like almost like it's assumed that they would say the.

Speaker B:

The things that they say.

Speaker B:

But once you know you're a woman and you see anything remotely close, you.

Speaker A:

Know, it's like we hold women to such different standards, but for all.

Speaker B:

It's the WAP conversation all over again.

Speaker B:

You know, it's.

Speaker B:

It's the WAP convo all over again.

Speaker B:

It's crazy.

Speaker A:

It's the WAP combo all over again.

Speaker A:

But literally, it's like no one talks about what Drake is saying in his songs, and he actually is on in the top 10 of the 1/ hundreds of like, not hip hop, but all genres.

Speaker A:

Like, for example, like, we're not talking about that.

Speaker A:

And I think that's where we deserve more nuance.

Speaker A:

And it just.

Speaker A:

It's disappointing.

Speaker A:

It's disappointing to me because we're having this conversation about black women.

Speaker A:

Like, black women always come up or always are, like, being bashed in a particular way when, you know, for example, caresha is a part of a larger hip hop industry that is largely not in the favor of women.

Speaker A:

Are we going to talk about that power imbalance or are we just going to talk about how she's ruining lives by telling little kids, go spend that.

Speaker A:

Like, y' all just don't like how palatable it is because people are going through it.

Speaker A:

That's why it's palatable, babes.

Speaker A:

That's why it's palatable, babe.

Speaker A:

That's why.

Speaker A:

That's why I don't love the episode.

Speaker B:

That's why it's palatable.

Speaker A:

That's why it's palatable.

Speaker A:

Write that down.

Speaker A:

We always forget the titles after the fact.

Speaker B:

That's right, babes.

Speaker A:

That's why it's about.

Speaker A:

People are going through it.

Speaker A:

That's why it's palatable.

Speaker A:

That might be too long.

Speaker A:

Okay, we gonna keep it moving.

Speaker A:

Reality trash.

Speaker A:

My favorite segment, Love island, is wrapping up.

Speaker B:

You had me watching Love island, and I want to say thank you because, you know, I didn't.

Speaker B:

I didn't realize what I was getting into.

Speaker B:

Now I would say that the fan base is crazy and y' all are doing thing pieces over 20 to 23 year olds.

Speaker B:

It's wild to be.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I don't know who was sign of the discuss you're on.

Speaker A:

Who was y'?

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

I'm retweeting for sure, but.

Speaker B:

Whatever side of the discuss you're on, you know, I think that.

Speaker B:

I mean, I would.

Speaker B:

I mean, people have said some things that I'm like, that's cringe, you know, But I'm like that.

Speaker B:

I don't think anybody is inherently bad or terrible on that show.

Speaker B:

And I just don't like how.

Speaker B:

I don't like the discourse from the.

Speaker B:

But the show in itself is very entertaining to watch personally to me, so.

Speaker A:

And you're watching us, right?

Speaker A:

Yes, I. I'm a long time Love island fan, so these new are actually ruining it.

Speaker A:

Like they're making it too deranged, too parasocial.

Speaker A:

It's too much.

Speaker A:

Like, this is actually three much.

Speaker A:

I really recommend you watching Love island uk.

Speaker A:

It's on Hulu.

Speaker A:

Anybody else also?

Speaker A:

It's on Hulu.

Speaker A:

Love the lingo, the.

Speaker A:

The cadence of it all.

Speaker A:

It's also like, like two times longer if y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

If y' all sick of them hoes in the.

Speaker A:

In the villa down in Fiji for six weeks.

Speaker A:

Them UK baddies.

Speaker A:

12 Weeks.

Speaker B:

12 Weeks.

Speaker A:

They just got out of castle more maybe a week or two ago and they're gonna be on there.

Speaker B:

How about that?

Speaker B:

They in Casa 4 over there a long way.

Speaker A:

Much longer.

Speaker A:

Much longer.

Speaker A:

We at least get like five or six casa episodes in in the uk.

Speaker B:

Like, do they have a break on Wednesday?

Speaker A:

Yes, they have a break on Wednesday, but then they do their after.

Speaker A:

Sun is a live show.

Speaker A:

They do a live taping, like with an audience and like live guests for their after show.

Speaker A:

So they put money into it because it's.

Speaker A:

It's a cult classic in the uk.

Speaker A:

Like, it's a cult classic.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

But they're in South Africa.

Speaker A:

America can never.

Speaker A:

We don't do it as big as uk.

Speaker A:

We don't.

Speaker B:

They should Love island in South Africa.

Speaker A:

Uk.

Speaker A:

The UK is in Fiji.

Speaker A:

But the US did not always use to be in Fiji.

Speaker A:

The budget has upped because there was.

Speaker A:

There was one point in time.

Speaker A:

I was talking to my homegirl about this yesterday.

Speaker A:

There was one point in time that Love island us, they was on the rooftop of a Las Vegas casino.

Speaker A:

Babes stuck up there for six weeks.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker B:

You really are.

Speaker B:

You really aren't OG watcher.

Speaker A:

I am.

Speaker A:

And I watched that season when it came out and it was very cringe because it Wasn't that popular then but they was doing the same things they're doing now.

Speaker A:

Episodes every day up there.

Speaker A:

Like imagine.

Speaker A:

First of all, I'm fine with being secluded to Fiji in a little villa.

Speaker A:

Imagine your villa being on top of a rooftop of Las Vegas, of Las Vegas Strip and you see people but you can't know what time it is.

Speaker A:

You can't read a book, you can't go down there.

Speaker A:

You can't talk to your family.

Speaker A:

All you can do is talk about your connections because that's all they can do.

Speaker A:

Like they can't do much of anything.

Speaker A:

So people are making it crazy.

Speaker A:

But it's about to end.

Speaker A:

And I hate, I feel like it used to be longer when it was less popular that it's super popular.

Speaker A:

They've shortened it to six weeks.

Speaker A:

It doesn't make sense that a six week.

Speaker A:

I will always advocate for it to be just as long as uk but I don't think America has that attention span.

Speaker A:

And I truly think we would come to blows.

Speaker A:

Like I actually truly think the psychoanalyzing of people will be too deep.

Speaker A:

We would actually get in physical fights.

Speaker A:

People would be doxed.

Speaker A:

Not the people on the show, but fan to fans because people are getting into it.

Speaker A:

And I understand.

Speaker A:

I was.

Speaker A:

My cousin is visiting he in the living room blowing it down with my daughter.

Speaker A:

That's why she's not in here causing a ruckus.

Speaker A:

Thank God.

Speaker A:

Thank God.

Speaker A:

And we was into it.

Speaker A:

We was into it about Casey and Titi and Anaya and.

Speaker A:

But the misogyny is misogyny.

Speaker B:

I don't like how the black community is.

Speaker B:

Is divided.

Speaker B:

With KCT we can be team Casey, TT and Anaya.

Speaker B:

We don't have to choose either or.

Speaker A:

But wrong is wrong.

Speaker A:

Wrong is wrong.

Speaker A:

That's all I feel.

Speaker A:

But at the same TT and Casey are growing on me.

Speaker A:

But I think the part that really everyone loves to be like sister soldier.

Speaker A:

You always talk about the political ways of things but our beings are political politicized.

Speaker A:

So the ways that we are attracted to people in that even our day to day is based off of like how we perceive people based off of like race, class, all the things.

Speaker A:

And it's no different and it's no different in the villa.

Speaker A:

So I just say I root for, for black women and black femmes to be treated well.

Speaker A:

And it don't matter who is on the other end of that.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker A:

But all these boy moms are literally they are.

Speaker A:

They are taking Casey to the final and I hate that.

Speaker A:

But they will not Win.

Speaker A:

Over my dead body.

Speaker A:

They will not win.

Speaker A:

They will not win.

Speaker A:

But I am happy for them.

Speaker A:

I don't know if they will last outside the villa or anybody else, to be honest, but it's.

Speaker A:

It's concerning.

Speaker A:

We're split as a nation.

Speaker B:

See?

Speaker B:

And I think that.

Speaker B:

And I think that.

Speaker B:

I understand that Anaya came across a little bit like she didn't want Casey to explore, because she said it with her mouth that if you wanted to explore, go explore.

Speaker B:

You could see on her face the defeat.

Speaker B:

Oh, you know, I'm not enough.

Speaker B:

And one thing, one thing.

Speaker B:

And I like what she said.

Speaker B:

She was like that.

Speaker B:

Yes, I didn't stand behind your door on the first day, but every day after that, I chose you every single time.

Speaker B:

And I think that in as much as Casey wanted to be chosen, Anaya also wanted to be chosen by him as well.

Speaker B:

And I think that he didn't.

Speaker B:

He didn't make a good, consent, concerted effort to do that.

Speaker B:

And he will tell everybody else something different and tell her something else.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Which is why the boys were saying that he was a villain, but they were saying that he wasn't being honest about his feelings.

Speaker B:

So imagine having to hear that from other people, and then you think that we're good.

Speaker B:

So I guess I understand both sides.

Speaker B:

And I feel like Casey, in his mind, is like, I don't want to rock the boat, because in the end, y', all, there's money on the line.

Speaker A:

And so that's also the problem.

Speaker A:

These contestants are very aware because of the popularity that there's money on the line, and they're gonna come out with a career of some kind.

Speaker A:

They're very aware of that.

Speaker B:

And the longer you stay, the longer you can build your social capital, the longer you can build your clouds.

Speaker B:

And so, yes, I like you.

Speaker B:

I like this connection.

Speaker B:

But also, if we.

Speaker B:

We end up breaking up, I'm vulnerable, and I can't leave the villa, and I don't want to leave the villa.

Speaker B:

I want to have a shot at the money.

Speaker B:

I want to have a shot to be here till the end.

Speaker B:

And I think that we are not.

Speaker B:

We're not thinking we're having these convos without having that context that.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

You know, in as much as, you know, anybody is overreacting or whatnot, you know, everybody is treated, everybody likes to an end.

Speaker B:

So it's like, I don't know.

Speaker B:

And I feel like everybody gets so much grace in the villa, but Anaya, everybody.

Speaker B:

Everybody gets everybody.

Speaker A:

Everybody.

Speaker A:

Even sincere babes.

Speaker B:

And then they're blaming her for.

Speaker B:

And I get the thing that, okay, your friend is stuck on this guy.

Speaker B:

You should let her know the truth.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And I'm not my friend's responsibility, though.

Speaker B:

Why is it on me that Melanie is going back to sincere?

Speaker B:

Why is it?

Speaker B:

Why everything I do, every single thing I do is analyze or look at the way she's smiling, look at the way her hair is.

Speaker B:

Or look at the way she's walking, or look at the way she's laughing thing.

Speaker B:

Look at what she said today.

Speaker A:

I'm like, girl, you don't know this person.

Speaker A:

At the end of the day, we see an hour and not even an hour straight of Anaya.

Speaker A:

We see an hour of multiple clips of her or.

Speaker A:

And everyone else in the villa of an hour of 24 and maybe 32 hours of their day.

Speaker A:

We don't see, like, them in full.

Speaker A:

We just don't.

Speaker A:

And it feels really crazy to be like, you're.

Speaker A:

You're crazy, you're trash.

Speaker A:

Like, all these.

Speaker A:

And I understand the same critiques I can put towards, like, Casey.

Speaker A:

I totally under.

Speaker A:

Like, that's why I don't hate him, do I?

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

Have I been able to pull, you know, my own thoughts about personality characteristics based off of what I've seen of all of them?

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

But I don't know these people enough to be like, this person is so insecure.

Speaker A:

Like, the whole insecure thing.

Speaker A:

And I'm tired of hearing about this door because no one was behind Anaya's door either.

Speaker A:

Like, we're talking about, you didn't choose me.

Speaker A:

You don't choose me.

Speaker A:

You didn't choose her either.

Speaker A:

So it's like, again, I think this show has really become about being chosen regardless of how you're being treated, I. E. Melanie and sincere, like.

Speaker A:

And also the show is.

Speaker A:

Has evolved into like, I just want to stay here versus, like, I want my connection.

Speaker A:

And I think that's what's so different between Love Island US and Love island uk.

Speaker A:

And like, the fandoms are different around it.

Speaker A:

Like, people are still intense over there, but people are not creating their own narratives and think pieces like how we do.

Speaker A:

And I think it's because.

Speaker A:

Because I don't think UK is different this way.

Speaker A:

But we're in a social media time.

Speaker A:

And also, like, the era of the tabloid really got us babes of the TMZ and breaking.

Speaker A:

You heard it here first.

Speaker A:

And every.

Speaker A:

Every detail is not news.

Speaker A:

Every detail is not news.

Speaker A:

And that's.

Speaker A:

And that's totally fine.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

And also, these are people at the end of the day, it's not that deep.

Speaker A:

Build a bridge and walk across that.

Speaker A:

Build a bridge.

Speaker A:

Like life will go on.

Speaker A:

Last thing.

Speaker A:

The amount of people voting on this app need to vote in this election period.

Speaker A:

I never seen only so many people organize their votes around couples for Love island.

Speaker A:

When you can't even organize your vote for your local seats.

Speaker A:

Organize your votes for your local.

Speaker A:

For the.

Speaker A:

For the local seats.

Speaker A:

Babes, preach.

Speaker A:

Turn out to city hall.

Speaker A:

Be at.

Speaker A:

Be at the forums.

Speaker A:

You could be on them forums in.

Speaker A:

In threads and X talking about Love island, but you can't.

Speaker A:

It just.

Speaker A:

It sickens me.

Speaker A:

It sickens me me.

Speaker A:

But it's, you know, at the same time connect.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Build a bridge.

Speaker B:

Build a bridge and walk over it.

Speaker B:

I think that with Casey, for example, I think that people.

Speaker B:

He even watching movie night, watching what happened, he could admit that he talked to her crazy.

Speaker B:

And which is another thing.

Speaker B:

Why I didn't get why they were like, it's a double standard.

Speaker B:

Anaya's clip.

Speaker B:

She didn't say one bad thing about Casey at all.

Speaker B:

She saw.

Speaker B:

She had seen a live video and said, he's exploring.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna explore too.

Speaker B:

And she did.

Speaker B:

She didn't bring him up once.

Speaker B:

She didn't talk about his looks.

Speaker B:

She didn't talk about anything about him.

Speaker B:

She just said that was all she did.

Speaker B:

And he on the other.

Speaker B:

On the other end talked about how she was boring, how she looked like a grandma, how she made him feel, all these other things.

Speaker A:

And so there's a giving it up.

Speaker B:

I'm like, there's a difference.

Speaker B:

And I feel like it is.

Speaker B:

It will be stupid to.

Speaker B:

To whatchamacallit.

Speaker B:

Say that there is no difference between both, you know, and to lump them up together and this idea that we cannot love all of them.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker B:

I don't get it.

Speaker B:

Like, I'm like that these are.

Speaker B:

Yeah, they are under 25.

Speaker B:

Say from Bryce.

Speaker B:

And is this Zach?

Speaker B:

They're all under 25.

Speaker B:

These are.

Speaker B:

When I was 20, if I was.

Speaker B:

If you.

Speaker B:

If you had put a camera on me when I was dating.

Speaker B:

Between 20.

Speaker B:

Between 20 and 24 and 4, 25.

Speaker B:

You would hate me from what I was saying?

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker A:

Absolutely you would.

Speaker A:

And I think we would all get the same level of hatred if we had cameras on ourselves in this age bracket.

Speaker A:

Dating.

Speaker A:

It's just.

Speaker A:

It is what it is.

Speaker A:

And also it's.

Speaker A:

What we're dealing with right now is 10 times worse.

Speaker A:

Because the dating scene is indicative of the dating Scene.

Speaker A:

What's happening in the villa is what's happening outside in the real world.

Speaker A:

Like, it's.

Speaker A:

That's just.

Speaker A:

It is.

Speaker A:

Whatever what it is, there's just no cameras documenting it and showing people Monday through Sunday like, that.

Speaker A:

That's just the case.

Speaker A:

And there's nothing wrong with being able to separate.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

The two.

Speaker A:

And I think people need to touch grass.

Speaker A:

And also, it's okay.

Speaker A:

Like, people are like, I'm not watching Love Island.

Speaker A:

I'm.

Speaker A:

I saw something today that was like, I'm 30 and I'm not watching Love Island.

Speaker A:

And I'm like, Babes, I'm 31.

Speaker A:

That doesn't make you special.

Speaker A:

You want to star for that.

Speaker A:

That, like, we watch.

Speaker A:

We watch.

Speaker A:

And also everything.

Speaker A:

There's no.

Speaker A:

You can watch Love island and be politically engaged.

Speaker A:

You can watch Love island and know what's going in your community.

Speaker A:

You can watch Love island and actually have a serious ass job, believe it or not.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But it's love.

Speaker A:

I'm ready for the season to be over.

Speaker A:

Not because I don't love it.

Speaker A:

It's just.

Speaker A:

I don't love y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

That's it.

Speaker A:

I just don't love the discourse, the.

Speaker A:

The noisiness.

Speaker A:

My right timeline is filled with Love Island.

Speaker B:

The discourse has been a while to see.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Why?

Speaker A:

And they're.

Speaker A:

They're not gonna let up because then once they get out the villa and people do their little interview circuit, the interviews have been a little while to watch, too, of these casa people.

Speaker A:

It's just gonna grow and grow and grow.

Speaker A:

Then it's gonna be a reunion, and it's gonna grow and grow and grow.

Speaker A:

It just shows that people need to be tapped into their own lives.

Speaker A:

Like, they're tapped into these people's lives.

Speaker B:

When does the reunion.

Speaker A:

They haven't even put out a date for it.

Speaker A:

Sometimes I think last year had a reunion.

Speaker A:

Both past two years have had reunions before then.

Speaker A:

They haven't always, but because of the popularity, they've started to do reunions.

Speaker A:

But I.

Speaker A:

They haven't even announced a date for it.

Speaker B:

Talks about a reunion or like, maybe like, two months.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I think it's gonna be like, a month after at the most, because they're gonna ride the wave of, like, after show stuff.

Speaker A:

Typically, after the people get out of Love island, they get offered to go to Disneyland.

Speaker A:

So then.

Speaker A:

Then that becomes a whole thing where, like, people do Disney, like, all the social media stuff.

Speaker A:

And then I think they do, like, an episode or two of, like, after the villa.

Speaker A:

So then there's the reunion.

Speaker A:

And then a year from now, they'll be beyond the villa.

Speaker A:

Ciao.

Speaker A:

Beyond the villa was.

Speaker A:

Last season was not interesting.

Speaker A:

The season before that, very interesting.

Speaker A:

And that's how we got beyond the villa because that was actually a Great season.

Speaker A:

Season 6 with Serena, Janae and Leah, and they're doing actual things.

Speaker A:

They're still relevant.

Speaker A:

Like, they're still relevant.

Speaker A:

They're still making a name for themselves.

Speaker A:

Clothes.

Speaker A:

Leah makes a bomb ass.

Speaker A:

She's the re.

Speaker A:

Founder of Skyler Beauty.

Speaker A:

I love their perfumes and they're like, clean.

Speaker A:

It's so.

Speaker A:

And they're unisex.

Speaker A:

It's just like Tea.

Speaker A:

But stuff like that.

Speaker A:

I want to hear about people's businesses afterwards.

Speaker A:

Let me.

Speaker A:

If I like you enough, I'll buy.

Speaker A:

I'll buy some stuff maybe, you know,.

Speaker B:

But yeah, I'm excited to see what happens with everybody after they leave.

Speaker B:

Excited to see, you know, Casey, Auntie Tea.

Speaker B:

I want to see what their interview will be.

Speaker B:

Watching it back.

Speaker B:

How.

Speaker B:

How would they react to everything that, you know, has gone?

Speaker B:

I worry a little bit about Anaya because I hope she has.

Speaker B:

I feel like her family seems like they're very grounded and will be able to shield her from a lot of things, but, yeah, I don't know how she's gonna take all the hate that she's gotten.

Speaker B:

I feel like she's got more hate than sincere.

Speaker B:

I think she was.

Speaker B:

She.

Speaker B:

I would say she's the one that has been the most hated this season.

Speaker B:

And for no reason.

Speaker A:

None.

Speaker B:

Well, just showing her emotions as a.

Speaker B:

As a woman.

Speaker B:

I think that's.

Speaker B:

That bothers me a lot.

Speaker B:

It's like.

Speaker B:

Like y' all hate this chick so much.

Speaker B:

Why?

Speaker B:

What's why?

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Misogynoir.

Speaker A:

That's why I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm a little concerned about, you know, how she would handle everything coming out.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I am worried about her mental health for sure.

Speaker A:

And she hasn't even seen anything.

Speaker A:

And her mental health been swirling just being in the villa.

Speaker A:

So it's like I just.

Speaker A:

I do worry about her mental health 100%, but I think she has a strong community around her for sure, which I love for her.

Speaker A:

I was going to also hop into.

Speaker A:

Should we talk Real Housewives or Summer House?

Speaker A:

Summer House is not that much.

Speaker A:

You said summer.

Speaker B:

Summer House.

Speaker B:

Is it because of Amanda and Wes are off the show?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Did you see that coming?

Speaker A:

I. I did.

Speaker A:

Because they can't take the heat and they got to get out the kitchen because Wes knew he was going to get the.

Speaker A:

The Sandoval edit in the whole next season.

Speaker A:

Like the entire especially was the fallout from the city.

Speaker A:

Have you watched it in the city?

Speaker A:

City.

Speaker A:

I love Yukon.

Speaker A:

I hate to say it.

Speaker A:

I hate to say it but Justin Jamal Bieber got it sometimes.

Speaker A:

Like.

Speaker A:

But I haven't watched a little bit of the in the city and it's been interesting.

Speaker A:

It's like before like Sierra actually knew because Sierra's on the show a little bit.

Speaker A:

Like she does her cameos in the city and it's really just about Kyle and Amanda and their fallout and how things transpired after that.

Speaker A:

But it's interesting.

Speaker A:

So I think they've been filming like constantly.

Speaker A:

Apparently they haven't started filming yet even though.

Speaker A:

Though it's summer.

Speaker B:

But to come back from Fiji, I.

Speaker A:

Feel like they might be.

Speaker A:

They might be.

Speaker A:

Which is not going to be too.

Speaker A:

She probably will be in Fiji up until like the end of next week because she has to do it after show.

Speaker A:

I don't think she has to.

Speaker A:

She may not.

Speaker A:

Who knows.

Speaker A:

Because there's no episodes next week.

Speaker A:

But Saturday is typically when the after show is.

Speaker A:

She might be involved in some sort of thing.

Speaker A:

Special episode next week with the.

Speaker A:

The islanders, once they come out of the villa.

Speaker A:

Who knows.

Speaker A:

But I wouldn't leave Fiji either.

Speaker A:

When Megan was in Fiji, she was having a time.

Speaker A:

I would love to go to Fiji.

Speaker A:

F Sounds like a bull.

Speaker A:

It really do.

Speaker A:

But 22 hours on a flight, direct.

Speaker B:

Flight from America to 22 hours direct.

Speaker B:

Or is it like with layovers or something?

Speaker A:

I don't.

Speaker A:

I'm unsure.

Speaker A:

I'm really unsure.

Speaker A:

But they were talking about that on the family episode.

Speaker B:

Cuz since I was like I came here.

Speaker A:

He said I. I really didn't want to come but actually I came here cuz you needed my foot in your ass.

Speaker A:

Basically.

Speaker A:

He said if I don't even sit with people who act like that.

Speaker A:

I said I know that's right, Pops.

Speaker A:

You better lay it down.

Speaker B:

You know what's a real funny with sincere.

Speaker B:

I want to even admit that I knew he was acting a little weird and everything.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But watching it in movie night was like my God.

Speaker B:

So for the people who were actually in the village to not have seen it, it's very possible that they would not have noticed or realized.

Speaker B:

Guys.

Speaker B:

That this guy was moving crazy.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

He was manipulating him for sure.

Speaker A:

Corbin was.

Speaker A:

Corbin felt betrayed.

Speaker A:

Corbin was.

Speaker A:

And also it reminded me of like how hood warriors don't get on me.

Speaker A:

But Huda actually was wild in There she was doing a lot.

Speaker A:

She deserved that perception in the villa.

Speaker A:

Melanie did not.

Speaker A:

And she was kind of getting like, not the hood of edit, but she was getting the hood of edit internally.

Speaker A:

Like, Sincere was using the mouth game to the boys because boys are chattier than men are chattier than women.

Speaker A:

I hate to say it.

Speaker A:

They really chatty.

Speaker A:

They, they.

Speaker A:

They talk about the tea, they spread it around, they gossip.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I don't care what people say.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And it was getting around that Melanie was crazy and Melanie didn't want to do this and Melanie didn't want to do that.

Speaker A:

And I think it's slowly people found out.

Speaker A:

But movie night solidified.

Speaker A:

They're like, oh, sincere has been ear hustling all of us has been literally.

Speaker B:

Like, even the fans were Loki calling her Huda at some point.

Speaker B:

Like, I remember they were comparing her with.

Speaker B:

I was like, what?

Speaker B:

Like, you know, they were really like trying to make her feel like she was like the crazy person.

Speaker B:

And I think that.

Speaker B:

And I think she's very self aware.

Speaker B:

I'll give Bella.

Speaker B:

And so she realized that, okay, I might be coming across like a crazy person.

Speaker B:

So she started dialing it back and started dialing it down.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, Melanie wasn't the most loved, save one.

Speaker B:

People blaming Anaya for.

Speaker B:

I'm like, y' all didn't really like this chick a couple of weeks ago, you know, but literally.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

Now Melanie is getting like, I. I want the most for the girls.

Speaker A:

Melanie, Trinity, Kaden and Anaya.

Speaker A:

I want them to come out, do the things that they desire, have all the access to things.

Speaker A:

I want Trinity to have her little makeup line, makeup collaborations.

Speaker A:

I really want them to have it all.

Speaker A:

Trinity has a million followers before she even has.

Speaker A:

She hasn't.

Speaker A:

She doesn't have her phone and she has a million followers.

Speaker A:

And I love that for her, I followed.

Speaker B:

Would she be the Orlandere of the season?

Speaker A:

Feel like a cross between her and Anaya.

Speaker A:

I do think I.

Speaker A:

What I love is that I.

Speaker A:

What I hope for the girls is that they take their own paths.

Speaker A:

Like, everyone doesn't have to be the influencer.

Speaker A:

Everyone has.

Speaker A:

Doesn't have to be the model, the person that's like, they don't have to.

Speaker A:

To take the same path.

Speaker A:

You can capitalize on the opportunities that make sense for you.

Speaker A:

Like, what were your goals before?

Speaker A:

Don't change it up just because you have this whole piece.

Speaker A:

Like, I hope Anaya does do just to spite all the people, all the black women actually talking about her hair.

Speaker A:

Have hair deals galore.

Speaker A:

Get free wigs, get this scent, get that scent, get them.

Speaker A:

Get all the things that, you know, you hoes could never.

Speaker A:

And y' all was talking about her hair.

Speaker A:

My.

Speaker A:

All she needed was a clarifying shampoo.

Speaker A:

Babes.

Speaker A:

That's all she needed.

Speaker A:

As someone who wears a lot of curly hair, as you see today, it becomes stiff because of all the products that you're putting in it.

Speaker A:

Them challenges that they doing, that's the only thing.

Speaker A:

She just needed a deep, clarifying shampoo.

Speaker A:

And as we know, the boys.

Speaker A:

That's the thing that I hate about the villa.

Speaker A:

The boys, they get a barber sitting there from time to time.

Speaker A:

This time, they sent in a black hairstylist for them, which they have not done in previous seasons.

Speaker A:

But the boys, yeah, they actually are changing things up because you saw Titi's hair change, Anaya's hair changed.

Speaker A:

But I don't know if.

Speaker A:

I think they still probably finesse their own stuff, but at the same time, give grace.

Speaker A:

If.

Speaker A:

If we had to look at you for six weeks with the same hairstyle in Fiji, in that humidity and every day, would you look cute, babes?

Speaker A:

Braids either.

Speaker A:

Braids too.

Speaker A:

Braids too.

Speaker A:

Braids become fuzzy.

Speaker A:

Like, would you?

Speaker A:

We would not.

Speaker A:

And no one's talking about Kayda's hair.

Speaker A:

Because I saw the clip ins, babes.

Speaker A:

The clip ins.

Speaker A:

Hoo, child.

Speaker A:

No one's talking about Kenzie's hair.

Speaker A:

And we know why.

Speaker A:

And we know why.

Speaker A:

We hardest on our own kind.

Speaker A:

But I digress.

Speaker A:

Who.

Speaker A:

That pissed me off.

Speaker B:

I'm here for it.

Speaker B:

I'm here for it.

Speaker B:

I'm here.

Speaker A:

It pissed me off.

Speaker B:

And I. I'm excited to see how.

Speaker B:

How this would end, the aftermath.

Speaker B:

This is my first time watching, like I said.

Speaker B:

And so you know me.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

You made me watch.

Speaker A:

You have to watch the uk.

Speaker A:

UK is sometimes better.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna watch uk.

Speaker A:

And they're actually.

Speaker A:

And all the black folks that are on UK are, like, from the African diaspora, of course.

Speaker A:

Like, it's a lot of folks who are like, like Nigerian or, like, Ghanaian or, like.

Speaker A:

That's what I do.

Speaker A:

Like, is that it's like, even more intercultural than the U.S. u.S. Would be, like, black Americans, but.

Speaker A:

And then there's also a lot of folks who like, of Arab descent.

Speaker A:

And there's.

Speaker A:

It's just like.

Speaker A:

So Irish folks.

Speaker A:

I love seeing the Welsh and Irish folks.

Speaker A:

People on there.

Speaker B:

They are going on right now of uk.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

They're actively putting them on.

Speaker A:

On Hulu.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And they're going to be going probably to like the end of August.

Speaker A:

They're not going to leave to the end of August.

Speaker B:

Do you like this?

Speaker B:

Do you like the UK season right now?

Speaker A:

The UK's A season is really.

Speaker A:

I started watching because the UK season has been getting so much, like, attention and people are loving the season.

Speaker A:

What am I going to good.

Speaker A:

My good friends shout out to Raishma even more of a Love Island OG person.

Speaker A:

She got her own water bottle with her name on it.

Speaker A:

Like the.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Because they sell it.

Speaker A:

They sell it.

Speaker A:

I actually want one.

Speaker A:

But she was like, are you watching uk?

Speaker A:

And we have for past couple years have been like, you watching this, you watching that?

Speaker A:

And it's UK is always so much better than us.

Speaker A:

You just have to get through maybe five episodes to catch a group.

Speaker A:

Same with us.

Speaker A:

You have to catch a groove.

Speaker A:

We're like, okay.

Speaker A:

They meeting each other.

Speaker A:

Awkward conversation.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

But UK is so much better.

Speaker A:

I promise you, if you like us, you gonna like UK more.

Speaker A:

10 Times more.

Speaker B:

I'm excited.

Speaker B:

I'm excited to get into the Love Ian fandom.

Speaker A:

You know, But I feel like, you know, I'm glad you.

Speaker A:

You recognizing your place.

Speaker A:

You.

Speaker A:

You took your shoes off before when you walked in the house.

Speaker A:

Unlike the rest of y' all uncouth ass sluts.

Speaker A:

No joking.

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

Let me not say sluts.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

Those are my words of endearment.

Speaker A:

So don't take it too personally.

Speaker A:

Chosen Ken.

Speaker A:

Like, I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

Y' all aren't sluts the other on the Internet.

Speaker B:

But yeah, I get it.

Speaker A:

I'm just saying we talked about Summer House a little bit.

Speaker A:

Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion is coming up.

Speaker A:

Apparently someone's pregnant.

Speaker B:

According to Claudia Jordan.

Speaker A:

People mad at her because, girl, you're not on the show anymore.

Speaker A:

Like, why are you telling people's tea?

Speaker A:

And then she's like, it was set on stage.

Speaker A:

Well, it should have stayed on stage.

Speaker A:

It should have stayed on stage.

Speaker A:

Who do you think is.

Speaker A:

Who you think is pregnant?

Speaker A:

I think it's Kelly.

Speaker B:

That will be insane.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker B:

Kelly will be insane.

Speaker B:

She said someone said Finky Cole.

Speaker B:

Cole in the comments because it only made sense not to be Pinky Cole.

Speaker B:

But I hope it's not.

Speaker A:

It's not Shamia.

Speaker A:

It's not Shamia.

Speaker A:

No shade.

Speaker A:

It's not Shamia.

Speaker B:

So he's pregnant for Jarvis.

Speaker A:

I think.

Speaker A:

I think Kelly might be pregnant with.

Speaker A:

From Jarvis.

Speaker A:

I think she needed another ticket.

Speaker B:

Portia.

Speaker A:

Another meal portion of.

Speaker A:

Because, you know, she's.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

Well, her girlfriend might be.

Speaker A:

But I don't think so.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure.

Speaker A:

I don't think.

Speaker B:

Michelle.

Speaker A:

No, I don't think.

Speaker A:

Hey, Michelle.

Speaker A:

Hell no.

Speaker A:

Phaedra said I'm done raising these babies.

Speaker A:

Babies.

Speaker A:

I think it's Kelly.

Speaker A:

Or it could be Pinky.

Speaker A:

I don't want Pinky to be pregnant.

Speaker A:

She got a lot of kids.

Speaker B:

She's got three kids, right?

Speaker A:

I thought she had more than three, but they're really young.

Speaker A:

They're like, yeah, back, back to back, back.

Speaker A:

I think it might be Kelly.

Speaker A:

I think so.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Give me the chaos.

Speaker A:

Kelly, you know, you pregnant girl.

Speaker B:

Well, we're gonna find out pretty soon that they will be back to know if our predictions were right, if it was Kelly.

Speaker A:

Cuz when is it?

Speaker A:

Well, you know they not gonna say it until part three.

Speaker A:

I hate, I hate Bravo.

Speaker A:

I hate Bravo.

Speaker A:

They be like of a three part.

Speaker B:

Series finale reunion and then the part.

Speaker A:

One, it'd be like we barely got into the mess and in the trailer be like the real two always be.

Speaker A:

Unless it's summer house reunion, which they got to equate because they said all that.

Speaker A:

Andy, we need to talk.

Speaker A:

Like Sierra said, bump the cards up.

Speaker B:

It was the elephant in the room.

Speaker B:

So I get it.

Speaker B:

I get it.

Speaker A:

Exactly, exactly.

Speaker A:

I'm trying to see when is it the reunion?

Speaker A:

When does it come out?

Speaker A:

July 13th.

Speaker A:

So this Sunday, part one.

Speaker A:

That's what it says.

Speaker A:

July 13th, this Sunday.

Speaker B:

They still got a new episode down.

Speaker B:

Finish Scotland then.

Speaker A:

Why does it say that?

Speaker A:

Hey, child, let me.

Speaker A:

I hate the Google AI thing.

Speaker A:

They do have to finish Scotland.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

This is where Shamia and Portia get into it.

Speaker A:

I'm ready for that, actually, because we.

Speaker A:

We all have been ready for it.

Speaker A:

And Shamia just been avoiding it like the plague.

Speaker A:

And Drew, you're reaching.

Speaker A:

Everything is not about Portia.

Speaker B:

Drew is.

Speaker B:

And I'm like that.

Speaker B:

And I'm like that.

Speaker B:

I get it.

Speaker B:

Shamia has a bunch of things that she.

Speaker B:

She could be dragged for.

Speaker B:

But I think that y' all are coming for her too much that people are gonna love her again by next season.

Speaker B:

I'm just like that.

Speaker B:

Like Angela, let her go.

Speaker B:

Like, let it go.

Speaker B:

Like some things just let it go.

Speaker B:

Like Drew, let it go.

Speaker B:

Let it go.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Let her go.

Speaker A:

It made me think of like someone got her hair and it's like, let her go.

Speaker A:

Like that's how it sounded like let her go.

Speaker B:

Like when women got Candace.

Speaker B:

Let her go.

Speaker A:

Let her go.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

I agree.

Speaker A:

I feel like the reunion is going to be good.

Speaker A:

Apparently Portia said she was kikiing with Andy the entire time.

Speaker A:

Andy had like a lot of you know, Andy gets his cryptic like, how was the reunion?

Speaker B:

That's what he said.

Speaker A:

Always.

Speaker B:

I'm like that.

Speaker A:

You said apparently K. Michelle was unbelievable.

Speaker A:

That's what they said that I'm like, I really hope she come out swinging.

Speaker A:

I want more for K Michelle.

Speaker B:

But she all photo afterwards.

Speaker B:

So we'll see.

Speaker A:

She did.

Speaker A:

I'm not shocked because she actually was doing Shamia dirty K Michelle is the drama and I. I know I understand how she feels around women and d d but she lets her past inform her present all the time with her female relationship.

Speaker A:

Female relationships.

Speaker A:

And it's sometimes just not that deep.

Speaker A:

Stand up for yourself.

Speaker A:

You don't have to take it to hell by for standing up for yourself.

Speaker A:

But you.

Speaker A:

You should say something.

Speaker A:

If Drew was telling you that you need to stand up for yourself.

Speaker A:

Stand up.

Speaker A:

That's embarrassing for Drew to say that.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

The queen of leaving and not attending events like girl, what I just if you had to give someone another season, who would you give another season before seeing the end of the season in.

Speaker B:

The re all of them.

Speaker B:

I. I want all of them back.

Speaker B:

I just want.

Speaker B:

I want Phaedra to be a friend of I don't want her to be.

Speaker A:

A house wife, Miss Congeniality.

Speaker B:

I want them all because I want I. I feel like they're a good group.

Speaker B:

I feel like they are a good group.

Speaker A:

They give me.

Speaker B:

We've had drama every single episode.

Speaker B:

We can't say that about photoback of last year.

Speaker B:

Can't say that around was good last season but we didn't.

Speaker B:

We didn't have drama every.

Speaker B:

Every, every episode.

Speaker A:

We need a Karen.

Speaker A:

We need a Karen.

Speaker B:

True.

Speaker B:

And so it's like, yes, bring them all back.

Speaker B:

Phaedra can be a friend of mine Cynthia was afraid of but she was in all the drama.

Speaker B:

So maybe give her a peach but she doesn't.

Speaker B:

But maybe Phaedra and s and Cynthia can be friends off and yeah, if.

Speaker A:

I was Cynthia I would never want to get back on this show.

Speaker A:

Child, give me friendo so I can go about my business travel.

Speaker A:

Do all.

Speaker A:

You have so much more flexibility being a friend of so I get it.

Speaker B:

And I feel like a friend of money.

Speaker B:

Cynthia's friend of money is not what Shamia was making as a friend of Absolutely not.

Speaker B:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Absolutely not.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Keep both of them as friends of Phaedra and Cynthia and keep the Cast as is.

Speaker B:

I like it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Bring Candy back to shake things up a little bit.

Speaker B:

But Candy's.

Speaker A:

Candy is never coming back.

Speaker A:

And I understand.

Speaker A:

She got so much other stuff going on.

Speaker A:

Broadway production.

Speaker A:

She's producing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

She got a whole life.

Speaker A:

I think we should let Candy live the rest of her life without being followed by cameras.

Speaker A:

Unless it's fam.

Speaker A:

Her family being followed.

Speaker A:

Followed.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You know, like, Nini does need it.

Speaker B:

I know she likes to pretend like she's hot.

Speaker B:

She's above it, but she.

Speaker B:

I mean, she was with Raheem Shabazz.

Speaker B:

I know offense to my sex workers.

Speaker B:

I love me.

Speaker B:

I love the sex workers.

Speaker B:

I love, you know, the porn stars.

Speaker B:

I, you know, do you do your thing.

Speaker B:

But he was out there in Fire island, you know, Nini, who has said some homophobic things, if I'm being honest, in earlier seasons.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But she was out there with the girlies, you know, and I'm like that.

Speaker B:

Y' all just get her back on housewives.

Speaker B:

Get her money back up.

Speaker B:

Get her money.

Speaker A:

Well, you know, she's on road trip.

Speaker A:

Ultimate girls trip.

Speaker A:

Yeah, she's on there.

Speaker B:

I'm excited.

Speaker A:

So I'm like, yeah, I am excited to see that.

Speaker A:

I feel like that should be good.

Speaker A:

There's gonna be some drama across franchises, so I'm like, that should be nice.

Speaker A:

I do.

Speaker A:

I was talking to my nail tech.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Well, this.

Speaker A:

I got my nails in yesterday.

Speaker A:

Y' all want to see?

Speaker B:

It looks cute.

Speaker A:

I love it.

Speaker A:

Thanks.

Speaker A:

You know, I'm just trying to bring myself some joy in this shitty world.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but she.

Speaker A:

I was asked we.

Speaker A:

That the same topic came up, and she was like, I want to see K. Michelle for another season.

Speaker A:

Like, I think everyone has their.

Speaker A:

Like, their freshman season.

Speaker A:

It's raw, rough, rocky.

Speaker A:

You don't know what to expect even if you've been on reality TV before.

Speaker A:

Like Real Housewives of Atlanta, first season is always a little different.

Speaker A:

So I. I do think she should come back.

Speaker A:

I wouldn't be mad at her coming back.

Speaker A:

I do want.

Speaker A:

I think she needs a redemption season.

Speaker A:

This one hasn't been a good season for Kimish show.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

She would adapt better on her second season.

Speaker B:

So she'll be fine.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

I don't have any doubt.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah, Absolutely.

Speaker A:

Okay, so this is a brief aside.

Speaker A:

I want to, like, give a little bit of time for it.

Speaker A:

As the world has been spinning, there's been a lot going on from the disappearing, disappearances, and killings of.

Speaker A:

Of black young people.

Speaker A:

Apparently, like, thousands of black youth are missing and it's been on my heart heavy.

Speaker A:

And also speaking of, like, want to say a few names just to bring them into the space.

Speaker A:

Nolan Wells, who was recently found ashore in Mississippi, and they're trying to figure out what happened with his, like, tragic death.

Speaker A:

And then also a few folks have been found hanging in parks, and there's been claims of suicide, but very few.

Speaker A:

A couple of young people.

Speaker A:

I just want to name Juliana Nitsa and Tonina Miller as a couple of folks that.

Speaker A:

That have been on my heart heavy.

Speaker A:

And it just feels like a really rough time for black people.

Speaker A:

It always has been a rough time for black people, but especially now as, yeah, more and more of our black young people and black adults are being killed or dis or disappearing for who knows?

Speaker A:

So I just wanted to bring them into the space and also want to head into kin lessons and kind of like, reground us.

Speaker A:

We started on, like, a little, not rocky note, but we just.

Speaker A:

We got into.

Speaker A:

We got into the pieces of how rough life is.

Speaker A:

e're, like, over halfway into:

Speaker A:

I'm curious if you have thoughts, Harry, as I know you're grappling with stuff.

Speaker A:

I'm grappling with stuff.

Speaker A:

And we're doing the best we can, but.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

How.

Speaker A:

How are you, like, keeping yourself afloat and grounded and in remembering the lessons from earlier this year.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And, you know, when you were talking about, you know, the missing, you know, you know, the tragedy that's been going on with, like, black youth and all these things, it just kept.

Speaker B:

I think the thing that has been on my mind is community care is most important right now or than ever.

Speaker B:

And I think that we use that very loosely.

Speaker B:

And I think that with everything that is going on, even with me personally and with, you know, with all that's happening in the world, I think that we gotta hold each other a little bit closer.

Speaker B:

And I don't mean you have to be best friends with someone.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

But you are.

Speaker B:

Oh, where is Shannon?

Speaker B:

I haven't seen Shannon in a while.

Speaker B:

Shouting the black name.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

Keep that in.

Speaker B:

I'm so sorry, y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker B:

I'm trying to be.

Speaker B:

I'm trying to go deep here.

Speaker B:

Like, you know, if.

Speaker B:

Where is Shannon?

Speaker B:

Where is Toby?

Speaker B:

Where is.

Speaker B:

Where is Rebecca?

Speaker B:

Like, you know, check in on your people and let's practice community care as we go into the end of the Year because, you know, I feel like that's how we care for each other.

Speaker B:

We have to embody the practice of looking out for each other.

Speaker A:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

You know, I know people don't like to share their locations.

Speaker B:

Let at least one of your friends have your location.

Speaker B:

Let your friend know where you are.

Speaker B:

Let's lean into really caring for each other in this moment.

Speaker B:

Because you know what?

Speaker B:

I don't want to be a downer, but, like, we are really the ones that got each other right now.

Speaker B:

And so, yeah, like, even with, like, my friends, they know everything.

Speaker B:

Like, you know, some of them have my locations.

Speaker B:

They know what's happening.

Speaker B:

And even when we're not on the best of terms, you know, it's like, you know, I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm upset, but.

Speaker B:

Oh, where are you?

Speaker B:

Why you.

Speaker A:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker B:

Where have you.

Speaker B:

I haven't seen you, you know, in a while.

Speaker B:

Yeah, because it's really hard.

Speaker B:

It's really hard for a lot of like.

Speaker B:

Like B said when we started, everybody is going through it.

Speaker B:

We're going through it.

Speaker B:

Our chosen kin, they're going through it as well.

Speaker B:

But the only way we can get through it is if we hold each other a little bit more.

Speaker B:

We care and just checking on each other.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And that is my kin lesson.

Speaker B:

It's like, I want to lean so deeply and so heavily into community care because, yeah, I don't know, I feel like I rambled a little bit, but that's where I'm at.

Speaker A:

No, I agree.

Speaker A:

I feel like my kin lesson is, I think, try to check in and be present for each other in the ways that make sense for you.

Speaker A:

It doesn't have to be a long, drawn out phone call.

Speaker A:

I'm someone that has phone anxiety.

Speaker A:

My family will tell you and be annoyed by it and my friends as well.

Speaker A:

But I am really good for a text message.

Speaker A:

I'm good for, you know, sending tiktoks back and forth and sliding in conversation in then and there.

Speaker A:

That's the ways that I can do it throughout the week when I may not have capacity, but I also will sit down for a conversation, grab some coffee, like, actually have some intentional time with the people that I love and care for.

Speaker A:

And that doesn't just fill up my cup, it fills up their cup.

Speaker A:

And like, how we had our check in.

Speaker A:

And every time we check in, we'd be like, who?

Speaker A:

I needed that.

Speaker A:

That's exactly what we need in this time.

Speaker A:

And I also really, I think that my.

Speaker A:

The kin lesson that I want to bring up even more is like centering, protecting your nervous system and your health.

Speaker A:

Like getting sleep, really thinking about your water intake, thinking about like, oh, do I have all the vitamins I need to actually be successful today?

Speaker A:

Or have I eaten?

Speaker A:

Has the person around me eaten?

Speaker A:

Like thinking about the things like that and showing up in ways that are tangibly possible and are simple.

Speaker A:

Like some it doesn't have to be anything grand.

Speaker A:

Like you don't always have to go out to the bars, hit the bars hard, get dinner, dinner, rack up a tab or anything, but just, just make the effort.

Speaker A:

And I know for myself this summer I'm really trying to make the effort of staying in intentional community with my friends.

Speaker A:

And also you can make more friends by like doing soft touches.

Speaker A:

Like you meet someone at an event, pour life into a new friendship.

Speaker A:

Because everyone gives you different things similar to relationships.

Speaker A:

Like everyone should be able to breathe life into you in a different way.

Speaker A:

Every relationship is going to give you something different, different.

Speaker A:

And that should be something that is what you need and a value and that's totally fine and that's totally okay.

Speaker A:

And it's also okay to not be okay, but it's not okay to be in isolation because that's not good for you or your community.

Speaker A:

So I just really want to hit that point home and protect your nervous system.

Speaker A:

Work on your nervous system.

Speaker A:

Think about the ways that things that you need to ground yourself every week because if you're not grounded, how you think anything else around you is supposed to go well, y', all, it's not.

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

I know for myself, I need to move my body.

Speaker A:

I need to move my body to actually feel sane.

Speaker A:

I need to take that Prozac on time to feel sane.

Speaker A:

And there's nothing wrong with that.

Speaker A:

Do the things that make you happy and that you need to do.

Speaker A:

As long as it's supporting your health and well being and not harming others.

Speaker A:

That sounds like a plan, girl.

Speaker A:

And I think you should.

Speaker A:

So it's been a beautiful episode of Chosen K. It really has.

Speaker B:

This episode has really fed me.

Speaker B:

So just want to give some love to be at.

Speaker B:

For holding.

Speaker B:

For holding.

Speaker B:

Holding down the chosen kin fam.

Speaker B:

Lots of appreciation for you and appreciation for you.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I love you dearly.

Speaker A:

You're my kin.

Speaker B:

So yeah, my K. Yes, I know.

Speaker A:

We need a little follow us on social.

Speaker B:

Follow our instagram.

Speaker B:

I know we want to be.

Speaker B:

It's a little dry but follow it right now.

Speaker B:

We're getting there.

Speaker B:

It's hard for people.

Speaker A:

It's hard for the people yeah.

Speaker A:

If you look at our grid and be like, oh, there's some stuff here, like feel free to engage.

Speaker A:

But it's like, yeah, imagine what we owe ourselves from what we owe the Chosen Kin podcast grid.

Speaker A:

We working on it, we working, we moving, we shaking and we will see you all soon.

Speaker A:

Like Harry said, follow us on all platforms.

Speaker A:

We do have some things fun coming for in person if all things go right.

Speaker A:

You know know it's a summer, it's retrograde so we still waiting on to hear back from things but we are hoping micro braids, micro locs, sister locks, it's in everything.

Speaker A:

But we're hoping to do something special for Chosen Kin with some like collaborations in a city that we always talk about.

Speaker A:

So I wonder what that is.

Speaker A:

I wonder what that is.

Speaker A:

We'll definitely share more soon, but let us know what you thought about the episode in the comments and please share wherever you listen to podcasts.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we love you.

Speaker B:

We love you.

Speaker B:

See ya.

Speaker A:

See you soon.

Speaker B:
