Shownotes

In Episode 4 of the September Reset, Sidney talks about one of the most important questions we can ask as we head into the final months of the year:

What deserves my best energy right now?

It’s easy to look at everything we haven’t accomplished yet and feel like we need to squeeze it all in before December 31. But a long to-do list isn’t the same thing as a list of priorities.

Sidney explores the difference between the two and offers a simple exercise for getting clear about what matters most.

The September Reset

Start by writing down everything you want to accomplish, finish, experience, improve, or make time for during the rest of 2026.

Then choose three priorities.

Not ten. Not fifteen. Three things that, if you accomplished them over the next few months, would make you feel like this season was well spent.

And then make another list:

Not Now.

Some goals and dreams may not fit into this season, and that doesn’t mean they have to be abandoned. Putting something on the “not now” list gives you permission to protect your current priorities without giving up on what you want to do someday.

Sidney also looks ahead to 2027, not by trying to plan every detail, but by asking a bigger question:

What do I want next year to be about?

Growth? Family? Adventure? Health? Freedom? Building wealth? Simplifying? Creating more space?

You don’t have to know every turn in the road to know what direction you want to go.

Priorities Can Change

Another important part of the conversation is giving ourselves permission to change our priorities.

What mattered five or ten years ago may not matter in the same way today. Our families, careers, circumstances, dreams, and responsibilities change. Letting go of an old goal isn’t necessarily failure. Sometimes it’s simply recognizing that life has changed.

The goal isn’t to do everything.

It’s to give our best energy to the things that matter most.

This Week's September Reset

Take some time this week to:

  • Write down everything you want to accomplish for the rest of 2026.
  • Choose your three priorities.
  • Create a “Not Now” list for the things that can wait.
  • Think about what you want 2027 to be about.
  • Ask yourself: What deserves my best energy for the rest of this year?

Because we can do everything.

We just can’t do everything at once.

And maybe that isn’t a limitation. Maybe it’s what allows us to be fully present for the things we choose.

Build it thoughtfully. Protect it wisely. Pass it on with purpose.
