AI is changing construction and remodeling in America — and right up front we dig into how machine smarts are speeding up the slowest part of every project: design and estimation. We promise, there won’t be a robot under your sink installing plumbing tomorrow, but these tools get homeowners real, region-priced numbers fast, keep contractors honest, and shave off a ton of admin so builders can stop living in spreadsheets. Eric G had to jet to the Midwest for a family emergency, so we threw together a remastered best-of for you this week with extras you probably missed the first time around — think bonus riffs and some fresh audio polishing. Later we pivot into practical comfort-talk: how to stop mirrors from steaming up and keep bathrooms and laundry rooms mold-free, with a nerdy love-letter to robust ERV motors (Panasonic, we see you — one of our crawl-space fans has been humming for 18 years, no jokes). So yeah, stories, tips, tech and a tiny bit of humblebragging about products that actually survive homeowner life; stick around, subscribe if you’re into that, and we’ll keep the hammers swinging and the Wi‑Fi strong.

Hold on tight.
Speaker A:We have a great around the house show coming up this weekend.
Speaker A:Help us out and subscribe on your favorite podcast player, Eric G. Had to head out for a family emergency and travel to the Midwest.
Speaker A:So we have a remastered show this weekend.
Speaker A:In the first hour, we discuss how AI is changing construction and remodeling in America.
Speaker B:No, there's not going to be some robot underneath your sink putting in plumbing tomorrow.
Speaker B:But at the same point, this is technology that's helping homeowners get numbers fast and really speeding up the slowest part of the project, which is that design and estimation part.
Speaker C:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker C:And I mean, just, again, I don't want to just go off on how great my product is, but our product.
Speaker C:Yeah, but honestly, right.
Speaker C:It benefits everybody.
Speaker C:It keeps contractors honest.
Speaker C:Because now you can actually go get a number priced for your region, priced by part that's real.
Speaker C:You can't really lie about that.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:In your $60,000 pickup.
Speaker C:Sorry, sorry, Scott Nutter.
Speaker C:But yeah, so, right.
Speaker C:It helps the contractor because he doesn't have to do any of that admin anymore.
Speaker C:None of it.
Speaker C:I mean, you put your own parts in so you can trust the price.
Speaker C:And then it pings your phone when you're on the roof and it says, bit just came in.
Speaker C:You want to approve it.
Speaker C:Or you can set it to auto if you know your prices are good and you literally will not touch the A thing.
Speaker C:Follows up with the client with emails.
Speaker C:If they don't, if they go quiet on you.
Speaker C:It's crazy, dude.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:How do people access this?
Speaker B:So if Mr. And Mrs. Smith are.
Speaker A:In the second hour, we sit down and revisit our discussion about how to keep that mirror from steaming up in the shower and keeping that bathroom or laundry room mold free.
Speaker B:One of the primary pillars of ERVs is the motor.
Speaker B:And if there's one thing that Panasonic does, we build motors.
Speaker B:Our ecm, our electronic commutated motors are so robust, in fact, in our fans, for example.
Speaker B:I have a fan in my crawl space.
Speaker B:It's been running straight for 18 years.
Speaker B:I just use it in the crawl space to evacuate moisture load out of the crawl space.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Continuously moving air.
Speaker B:I go down there about every five years and knock the dust out of the blower wheel, and literally that's all I do.
Speaker B:But it is still running right now.
Speaker B:I haven't looked at it the last couple minutes, but I can walk by one of my foundation vents and I can feel the air coming out of it.
Speaker B:So nice.
Speaker B:We build these robust motors, you know, when you're a builder, one of the things you want is resilience in your products, right?
Speaker B:Holy cow.
Speaker B:You don't want to put something in and then be on that speed dial in three years when your home buyer, your homeowner calls you up and say, yeah, this goofy little fan that you saved money on fails and now I've got steam in my shower area.
Speaker B:It's just, it's just too irritating to go cheap.
Speaker A:All that and more on Saturdays around the House with Eric G. We do this show every week to help you make your home a better place, and you can help us keep it going.
