“I myself taught Ephraim to walk, I took them in my arms; yet they have not understood that I was the one looking after them.” We are Christian because Jesus found us. He made us to be with him, but we were not there! So he went looking for us. Walking across the earth, passing through crowds and criticisms, the low branches and high grass of scourging and spit, through true thorns, and even the terror of darkness and death - he staunchly followed our trail to find us, free us from the slave-trader, and place us safe and secure within the flock of the Church forever. This is what God thinks of each of us without exception. Each step was personal, each breath from him focussed on us: next to you now at this very moment as you hear this. Open your heart to him and welcome his love.
