What a coincidence, do you ever say that? And does it mean anything to you if you do?

I believe coincidences are one way we see the connectedness of all, I think they're little magical signs to show us that there is more to our life than what we can see.

I, coincidentally, have recently become involved in the world of coincidences that I never knew existed. A world where scientists and psychotherapists and scholars talk about them and research them - jackpot!

I have several guests coming up to talk about them, but I wanted to open up the conversation again now, and say "let's talk about coincidences"!

On this show, you'll hear about:

  • The importance of recognizing the interconnectedness of life and how it can lead to a more meaningful existence.
  • My fascination with coincidences and how they offer glimpses of a hidden connection behind the scenes.
  • Personal stories of synchronicities and how they bring joy and surprise, sparking curiosity about life's deeper mysteries.

Join me on this journey of discovery and growth as we unravel the beauty of connectedness together. Don't forget to follow and stay connected with me through my website at revkarenpodcast.com and join my Facebook group, Connectedness with Rev Karen. Looking forward to exploring with you!

Rev Karen:

Hello and welcome to the Connectedness Podcast.

Rev Karen:

Just as you might have guessed, I talk about connection and connectedness

Rev Karen:

on this podcast, our connection with everything in the world around us.

Rev Karen:

Whether you see it or not, we're all connected, and it doesn't matter if it's

Rev Karen:

our dog, our cat, our God, our body.

Rev Karen:

And I'll also talk about some more.

Rev Karen:

Abstract connections like our career or our land, our community, our emotions,

Rev Karen:

your body life is all about connection.

Rev Karen:

So the sooner we recognize that, the sooner we can have an

Rev Karen:

easier, more meaningful life.

Rev Karen:

I will talk about these connections through different lenses.

Rev Karen:

Things like synchronicities and coincidences are just.

Rev Karen:

Everyday little bits of magic and miracles that we, we usually dismiss.

Rev Karen:

It's really important that we pay attention to all of this so we can

Rev Karen:

live an easier, more meaningful life.

Rev Karen:

So welcome to the show.

Rev Karen:

I'm your host, Karen Cleveland.

Rev Karen:

Welcome back everyone.

Rev Karen:

So glad to be back here doing a solo show Again, that is not part of a mini series.

Rev Karen:

If you listen to my podcast, to the episodes as they drop,

Rev Karen:

you'll know that . I've been doing a lot of miniseries lately.

Rev Karen:

Safaris and manifestation , and various things.

Rev Karen:

But I wanted to talk today about coincidences.

Rev Karen:

Now I mentioned coincidences in my show description.

Rev Karen:

It is what I want to talk about on the show.

Rev Karen:

And to be honest, I haven't talked that much about it.

Rev Karen:

I love talking about all the different forms of spirituality and how we can get

Rev Karen:

in touch with our personal divine truth.

Rev Karen:

So that's why I love having all the different guests and how we talk about.

Rev Karen:

Connectedness and spiritual nature in different ways.

Rev Karen:

But I wanna talk a bit about coincidence.

Rev Karen:

I have been involved in a coincidence community lately because I was

Rev Karen:

interviewing someone for the podcast who's episode hasn't dropped yet, but.

Rev Karen:

We were talking about, she writes about coincidence, so she studies it and

Rev Karen:

then she dropped a name , and I found out there's this whole world of people

Rev Karen:

out there that are investigating it, that are doing scientific studies, that

Rev Karen:

are doing, all kinds of research and investigating coincidences and I love it.

Rev Karen:

That's what I, love to check out.

Rev Karen:

One of the reasons I love coincidences is because what I

Rev Karen:

think they mean, what I think is, is the background of a coincidence

Rev Karen:

is that it shows our connectedness of all life, of all things to me.

Rev Karen:

Even though we might not know why a coincidence happened or what it's supposed

Rev Karen:

to mean or anything like that, it shows that, that there is a connection behind

Rev Karen:

the scenes and that we are all connected.

Rev Karen:

And so, when a coincidence happens, first of all, it's usually delightful.

Rev Karen:

Not always, but it's usually a delightful surprise.

Rev Karen:

To have something show up just as you're thinking about it or something

Rev Karen:

works out, which is completely unexpected, but exactly what you wanted.

Rev Karen:

. Sometimes, even though they have no meaning for us, maybe we run into a

Rev Karen:

person, maybe, there's a coincidence.

Rev Karen:

It involves another person.

Rev Karen:

Maybe it has meaning to them, and maybe it's not for us.

Rev Karen:

Maybe it's not about us.

Rev Karen:

Maybe it's for someone or something else that we don't even know about.

Rev Karen:

It's like when we get delayed going somewhere.

Rev Karen:

So maybe you get stopped at every single stoplight on your way to work.

Rev Karen:

Maybe there's a reason that you don't know behind that.

Rev Karen:

Maybe the reason you couldn't find your car keys when you tried to leave for work

Rev Karen:

in the morning was because you needed to avoid an accident down the street.

Rev Karen:

But we don't know that.

Rev Karen:

We don't have those kind of insights, so we don't always know what we miss.

Rev Karen:

And so, as I said, I wanna kind of get back to talking about

Rev Karen:

coincidences a little bit.

Rev Karen:

And as I mentioned, I'm having guests, um, in the near future on,

Rev Karen:

on shows, talking about coincidences.

Rev Karen:

I really think this is how we understand that, that we are

Rev Karen:

connected, that there is connectedness.

Rev Karen:

The other thing that I believe about connectedness is that it is the framework

Rev Karen:

for how the spiritual laws function.

Rev Karen:

let's, , take for example, the law of balance or the, the Law of Harmony,

Rev Karen:

which can mean that if there is a product or service over here, If someone is

Rev Karen:

offering something or creating something or has an idea to create something

Rev Karen:

that there's a person over here that needs it, they, they need this there.

Rev Karen:

There can't be, I.

Rev Karen:

A product or service for sale if someone doesn't need it on the other end.

Rev Karen:

So if you need something, if you're looking for something somewhere,

Rev Karen:

there's someone either has created it or is creating it, and you can

Rev Karen:

use this like also a person, like if you're looking for a significant other,

Rev Karen:

a partner in life, if you have that desire, that desire cannot go unmet.

Rev Karen:

So somewhere else.

Rev Karen:

is The solution to the desire waiting to be put together.

Rev Karen:

And I believe the connectedness is what allows these both to exist and

Rev Karen:

to ultimately be brought together.

Rev Karen:

So I think it's important that we talk about coincidences.

Rev Karen:

And synchronicities, maybe little miracles.

Rev Karen:

You know, sometimes I mention miracles or magic I think people

Rev Karen:

don't talk about them enough.

Rev Karen:

I think it's important to get these things out into the world so people

Rev Karen:

start talking about them more because if they remain kind of a hidden thing,

Rev Karen:

then the people that experience them are going to feel like they're weird.

Rev Karen:

And that's not the case at all.

Rev Karen:

It's perfectly normal.

Rev Karen:

In fact, if you tell someone a coincidence story, chances are, it will

Rev Karen:

ignite something in their memory and perhaps they will tell you one as well.

Rev Karen:

So let's start talking about coincidences, about synchronicities, about all

Rev Karen:

these experiences a little bit more.

Rev Karen:

Coincidences can come in many forms.

Rev Karen:

They can be a physical thing you might call a coincidence, like when one

Rev Karen:

twin has something going on and it's sibling miles or miles and miles away.

Rev Karen:

Has the same symptom or feeling and so there's definitely some physical

Rev Karen:

coincidences , I believe it's possible because we are connected.

Rev Karen:

We are all connected, but there's also coincidences that might not be

Rev Karen:

physical, but maybe we thought of something and then something happened.

Rev Karen:

So it appeared first in our head and then it.

Rev Karen:

Out pictured into the world, maybe even precognition sometimes,

Rev Karen:

and it might be a dream.

Rev Karen:

You might have dreamed something was gonna happen and then something happened.

Rev Karen:

And some people might call that deja vu precognition.

Rev Karen:

It's kind of, , variations of the same thing.

Rev Karen:

I really wanna invite you to come along as we talk more about coincidences.

Rev Karen:

I want you to.

Rev Karen:

Email me to get in touch with me if you wanna be on the show, if you

Rev Karen:

wanna talk about some coincidences.

Rev Karen:

So let me just tell you about one of my coincidences and, and this

Rev Karen:

might be a little more synchronous.

Rev Karen:

and then the coincidence happened.

Rev Karen:

So all these things had to fall into line in order for this to happen.

Rev Karen:

, so let me just tell the story and then we'll talk about it a little bit.

Rev Karen:

So, I have a favorite band, and this favorite band was, um,

Rev Karen:

they've been around, many years at the point of this story.

Rev Karen:

. I think this story happened probably 15 years ago.

Rev Karen:

I'm not even sure.

Rev Karen:

15, 20 years ago they, and they had already been around for quite a long time,

Rev Karen:

and being a fan from the very beginning meant I knew a lot of their B-side songs.

Rev Karen:

I, and listened to every song on their albums.

Rev Karen:

when you're a big fan of someone, you, you probably know.

Rev Karen:

The songs that you are, your favorites are not the hits.

Rev Karen:

You know that the hits are not their best songs at all.

Rev Karen:

Anyways, so this band was coming to town.

Rev Karen:

They were going to be part of, , a festival here in Seattle, bumbershoot,

Rev Karen:

where there's a bunch of artists playing.

Rev Karen:

I don't know why I didn't buy tickets.

Rev Karen:

I'm not sure what, what my thought was behind not buying tickets to bumper Shoot.

Rev Karen:

Perhaps I didn't have the money, but I don't really know.

Rev Karen:

But in addition to needing to get into the festival, you also

Rev Karen:

had to buy tickets for the band.

Rev Karen:

And several months before they started on tour, they had sent out to all

Rev Karen:

their fans, . Hey, send us the three songs you want us to play on our tour.

Rev Karen:

And so I selected, you know, three songs and I sent them in.

Rev Karen:

I don't remember what all the songs were at this point, but they were my favorites.

Rev Karen:

They were not the hits.

Rev Karen:

They were not their hits.

Rev Karen:

So I send them the three songs.

Rev Karen:

They come to Seattle.

Rev Karen:

I don't have tickets.

Rev Karen:

I don't know why I, but I don't, but I decided I had to go anyway.

Rev Karen:

So I went down to Seattle Center, you're in Seattle, you know the Seattle Center.

Rev Karen:

I went down and I thought about going into bumper shoot, and I could see

Rev Karen:

the line for the stadium before I actually went into bumper shoot.

Rev Karen:

And so I looked at, at it and I thought, I'm not even gonna pay to get in.

Rev Karen:

Nevermind.

Rev Karen:

I don't know why I came down here.

Rev Karen:

So I walked around the corner of the stadium to to the back

Rev Karen:

because that's where I had parked.

Rev Karen:

And I saw a line that was moving a very small line, you

Rev Karen:

know, one, two people wide.

Rev Karen:

That was all, it wasn't a big crowd like in the fist festival side.

Rev Karen:

And I thought, well, I'm gonna get in this line and see what happens, because

Rev Karen:

looks like they're going in the stadium.

Rev Karen:

So I get in line.

Rev Karen:

I don't know why they didn't check for a wristband.

Rev Karen:

When I entered the stadium, I was not talking to anyone.

Rev Karen:

, but I was close to other people who did have visible wristbands

Rev Karen:

on and they just let me in.

Rev Karen:

So I got into the stadium and uh, we were some of the first ones in.

Rev Karen:

I, they, they were some kind of premium or v i p or I don't know what these

Rev Karen:

people were, but I, I got in with them and I was able to sit very far up.

Rev Karen:

In fact, when I sat down, I thought, you know, someone's gonna find me out.

Rev Karen:

I just know someone's gonna find me out because I don't know if we're

Rev Karen:

supposed to sit in special seats.

Rev Karen:

I don't know anything about it, and they're gonna want to see my wristband.

Rev Karen:

I know who they are.

Rev Karen:

But anyways, I sat down, I was very close.

Rev Karen:

I was on . you know, The side bleachers, but on the very side and the very front.

Rev Karen:

So I was very close.

Rev Karen:

No one ever checked anything.

Rev Karen:

I was fine so I was sitting there all night and loving, having

Rev Karen:

a good time watching the show.

Rev Karen:

They played two of the songs and, you know, the, the third song.

Rev Karen:

I had been following the tour all along and I was looking at their set

Rev Karen:

lists of what they were playing every night, and I wasn't seeing my song,

Rev Karen:

the song come up at all, and I thought, well, they're not gonna play my song.

Rev Karen:

And what did they do?

Rev Karen:

They played my song.

Rev Karen:

They played it live and they hadn't played it anywhere else.

Rev Karen:

But then after they left Seattle, I.

Rev Karen:

They continued to play it.

Rev Karen:

So I don't know if there was a really good audience reaction that they continued

Rev Karen:

to play it on tour, but um, so I really felt like I was meant to be there.

Rev Karen:

Now, was that life changing?

Rev Karen:

I don't know.

Rev Karen:

Maybe not.

Rev Karen:

Was it a coincidence?

Rev Karen:

Yeah.

Rev Karen:

Was there synchronistic events that led to it?

Rev Karen:

Yeah, of course.

Rev Karen:

Is there a deeper meaning to it?

Rev Karen:

I don't know.

Rev Karen:

So I'm looking at it 10, 15 years later.

Rev Karen:

It has meaning.

Rev Karen:

I don't know if it has deep meaning, but it certainly felt good at the time.

Rev Karen:

I was certainly glad I was there.

Rev Karen:

The other thing though, about this band that they are a band that

Rev Karen:

truly inspires me when I need to.

Rev Karen:

Do something.

Rev Karen:

So when I need to, to take action, when I need to connect to my divine self and

Rev Karen:

I need a little bit of help doing that, sometimes they're one of the bands,

Rev Karen:

they're, you know, one of the artists that I play So again, I don't know if

Rev Karen:

there may, maybe someone else needed to hear the song further down the line.

Rev Karen:

Maybe there is something else going on.

Rev Karen:

I don't know.

Rev Karen:

You know, I'll never know.

Rev Karen:

But I do know I, I wanted to be there and.

Rev Karen:

All these things fell into place and I was there.

Rev Karen:

And that's not the first time that has happened that there have been

Rev Karen:

events that against all odds I've been in a certain place and then

Rev Karen:

another event that eventually leads to a really interesting coincidence.

Rev Karen:

And sometimes though I wonder, is that coincidence for someone else?

Rev Karen:

You know, does it have a deeper meaning for someone else or is it just.

Rev Karen:

To spark some surprise, some fun, just the joy of life showing up

Rev Karen:

for us, because it can be that too.

Rev Karen:

Maybe it's that too.

Rev Karen:

I don't know.

Rev Karen:

So let's talk about it more.

Rev Karen:

Alright, let's talk about coincidences.

Rev Karen:

Let's talk about connectedness.

Rev Karen:

Let's talk about the synchronicities of life and everything that

Rev Karen:

happens, and why is it happening.

Rev Karen:

Let's explore what's going on because I'm not trying to say I have the answers.

Rev Karen:

But I think it's fun to explore because, , it can bring joy and

Rev Karen:

delight into life when there's sometimes not much joy or delight.

Rev Karen:

Alright, thank you for, for listening, watching, and look

Rev Karen:

forward to exploring this more.

Rev Karen:
