This is the Daily note from jamesabrown.net School is out and summer is starting for most children.
Speaker A:
And that reminds me of one of the scariest stats I've heard recently.
Speaker A:
According to Common Sense Media, Kids ages 8 to 12 average 5.5 hours of screen time a day.
Speaker A:
Now, I'm not interested in blaming apps or algorithms, but they built something sticky.
Speaker A:
That's what companies do.
Speaker A:
But most kids didn't get that phone or tablet on their own.
Speaker A:
We gave it to them because it bought us 20 minutes of quiet.
Speaker A:
And we could text them when we don't know when they are, but the consequences are dire.
Speaker A:
Lower reading levels, screen addiction, depression, to name a few things.
Speaker A:
Their lives are increasingly worse.
Speaker A:
We made it this way, and we can do better than this.
Speaker A:
