The court will come to order, and call the alleged victim to the stand. Perhaps, in hindsight, the court should have hesitated to do such things.

Tonight we present “Testimony on Charges of Obscenity, Hypnotism, and Unnatural Transformations” a poem by Rob MacWolf, who asserts his right not to testify in this matter, you can find his books from both Bewere Books and Doppelfoxx Publishing, and you can find preview chapters of his upcoming work on his SubscribeStar.

Animals

of

the

jury,

the

task

before you is

thus. To

judge

fairly

and

impartially,

based

only

upon the

evidence

admitted

here,

whether

the

accused

is

a

menace

to

scoiety.

Whether

his

nature

is

so

inherantly

depraved

that

he

must

be

considered

a

monster,

so

repulsive

that

any

who

associate with

him

must

be

assumed

to

have

had

their

coerced.

our

we

fearful.

Call to

the

“Testimony

on

Charges

of

Obscenity,

Hypnotism,

and

Unnatural

Transformations”,

a poem by Rob MacWolf

It

was not

hypnotism.

There

is

no

such

thing,

they

tell

me.
My

mind

was

not

controlled

at

all.

My

will

remained

unaltered.
No

part

of

my

subconscious

has

been

tampered

with,

I

swear

it.
So I say-
               Aye,

your

honor,

I

quite

understand.

My

lawyer
Demanded

I

not

say

this.

I

can

see

he’s

most

unhappy.
I

know

I

have

the

right

to

hold

my

peace,

and

not

to

witness
Against

myself.

But

silence

is

a

treacherous

protection.
It

only

can

protect

you

as

a

prison

would

protect

you.
And

I

did

swear

to

tell

the

truth.

And

I

have

longed

to

tell

it
How

many

years

now?

If

it

please

Your

Honor,

I’ll

continue.

I

was,

as

I

have

said,

not

hypnotized.

What

the

defendant
Did

to

me

was with

my

complete

consent,

enthusiastic.
I have

heard

so

much

slander

on

this

witness

stand,

Your

Honor,
From

those who

think

themselves

my

friends

or

family.

They

know

me
Not

at

all.
               He

knows

me,

though.

He

knew

me

in

a

moment.
He

knew

me

long

before

I

knew

myself.

He

has

released

me
From

all

the

oaths

they

made

me,

as

a

little

child,

pre-pledge

to.
I

longed

to

be

seduced,

and

he

obligingly

seduced

me.
I longed

to

be

desirable,

and

he

indeed

desired

me.
I

longed

to

be

enslaved.

For

just

as

much

as

I

desired

them
I

feared

the

things

that

I

desired,

and

wished

that they

could

happen
Suchwise

as

would

not

lay

responsibility

upon

me.
Had

he

attempted

hypnotism,

he’d have

found

it

needless.
I

own

that

we

were

guilty.

It

was

guilt

that

we

aspired

to.
We

drank

forbidden

things.

We

danced

profane

forbidden

dances
To

music

that

he

taught

me,

growled and

low,

with

my

ear

pressing
Direct

against

his

throat,

lest

human

hearing

could

not

catch

it.
He

led

me

on

forbidden

paths,

beyond

civilization.
We

howled

unto

the

moon

together,

out

among

the

wastelands.
The

court

does

not

have

laws

yet

promulgated

to

prohibit
The

length

and

breadth

of

all

the

crimes

we

did

to

one

another.
He

gave

me

of

the

fruit

of

knowledge,

and

I

gladly

ate

it.
He

took

me

and

transformed

me—which

the

court

calls ‘hypnotism’—
My

human

body

unto

one

like

his,

all

full

of

glory.
He

said

I

was

an able

student,

in

between our

kisses.
All

the

unholy

powers

and

perversions

he

partakes

of
He

shared

with

me. And

with

my

new-made

body

I him

worship.
He

taught

me

who

I

am,
               And

who

I

always

was,
                         Forever
And

ever,

world

without

end.

I’m

forever

grateful

for

it.

I

know

I

have

the

right

to

hold

my

peace

and

keep

my

silence.
But

that

implies

the

right

to

speak

my

piece,

to

break

my

silence,
And

silence,

I

have

heard,

is

death.

And

death

is

a

harsh

sentence.
So

I

will

speak,

to

save

him,

just

as

he

once

spoke

to

save

me.

But

now,

of

course,

Your

Honor,

you

have

heard

my

testimony.
You’ve

listened

to

the

rhythms

of

it.

All

the

court

has

heard

them.
The

bailiffs

and

the

wardens

and

the

officers are

breathing
In

easy

time,

unconscious,

to

the

cadence

I’ve

been

speaking.
It

was

not

hypnotism,

then,

when

first

we

violated
Your

petty

laws.

But

I’m

an

able

student.

And

I

promised
To

tell

the

truth

and

nothing

but

the

truth,

and

so

I

tell

You

shall

not

lift

a

finger

when

I

leave

the

stand.

The

bailiff
Will

make

no

move

to

hinder

me

releasing

the

defendant.
And

not

a

one

of

you

will

stir

when

he

and

I

together
Are

taken

from

this

place,

and

thence

to

where

you

cannot

follow.
No

more

than

could

the

lawyer—and

I’m

sorry,

sir—prevent

me.
It

was

not

hypnotism,

then.

But

if

the

court

has

questions
About

what’s

happening

now?

Well,

you

will

need

a

new

subpoena
To

make

me

take

the

witness

stand

again…
                    If

you

can

find

me!
