Shownotes

For years, the annual physical has been treated like one of those things responsible adults are just supposed to do. But if your checkup now feels more like blood pressure, blood work, a quick conversation, and out the door, you might wonder what exactly we’re accomplishing.

Some research has questioned whether routine general health checks actually reduce disease or mortality for otherwise healthy adults. That doesn’t mean preventive care has no value, but it does raise an interesting question about habits we follow simply because they’ve become normal. When something has always been part of the routine, how often do we stop and ask whether it’s still serving its purpose?

Scripture (NIV): Proverbs 14:15 – “The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.”

Reflection Questions:

What routines in your life do you follow mostly because you’ve always done them?

How can we be wise about our health without becoming consumed by trying to control every outcome?
