The renal system, specifically the kidneys, is a fascinating system, often overlooked. The complexity of design points directly to our Creator God. God breathed in life in an instant and could, and has, take life away in an instant.
“I was at ease, and he broke me apart; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces; he set me up as his target; his archers surround me. He slashes open my kidneys and does not spare; he pours out my gall on the ground” (ESV Bible, 2001, Job 16:12-13).
The kidneys begin with an artery and end with a vein. The continue with afferent and efferent arterioles, which between them modify to form a glomerulus. The glomerular capsule collected filtrate and allows it to flow through the tubule system (e.g. proximal convoluted tubule, nephron loop, distal convoluted tubule). Adjacent, the peritubular capillaries allow for reabsorption back into the cardiovascular system. Eventually, blood flows along venues into vein and out of the kidneys, while filtrate flows out of the kidneys via ureters and into the bladder for expulsion.
So there you have it, another example of something Biblical represented in our anatomy; another example of God’s powerful design. We pray that our message today has encouraged you and that you will seek the Bible more fervently than ever. Blessing to you our brothers and sisters.
Stress is not the goal, be well.
