49 And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 50 for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased.
Mark. Mark 6:49-51. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 11 of 30 Days of Days of Pushing Back Fear. Trouble had found them. Quite literally. These experienced fisherman found themselves in the middle of a raging storm. Alone. Dark water all around them, like a hungry monster about to swallow it’s prey. This storm that outsized all their collective skill and resources. You might’ve been there. Might be there. Outmaneuvered. Outgunned. Alone. Anyway, when God shows up, they think it’s death walking in to seal their fate. You? Me? Sometimes when God shows up in the middle of our stuff, we think it’s fate, about to turn us in, too. God’s words to us, to you, “Cheer up—it’s Me, and I’m here to help. Mind if I get in?” And, if we let Him, that moment changes everything.
